Sickening behaviour. Surely tasering the man is enough.
He is on the floor tasered so you give him some kickings to the head?

Hope this is properly investigated.
Greater Manchester Police have an awful reputation.

What would your DH do if some thug broke yours or your DDs nose? I dont condone what he did, but I understand why he reacted in that way.

I wouldn't mind seeing thieves and criminals bashed up a bit. I'd draw the line at mentally ill because these people do not have the ability to control their actions.

Even if you're poor, doesn't give you the right to steal stuff that isn't yours.

And you expect every policeman to be qualified to tell a mentally ill thief from a sane one in a split second? Or in the time it takes to decide whether to arrest or toe punt someone’s head?

My DH is not employed to ensure civil rest.

I’d expect my DH to kick (maybe).

I’d expect a policeman to arrest so that he could be prosecuted.

Bex5490 · 26/07/2024 00:28

Aside from the obvious that police should keep to the same laws they arrest people for, it actually messes up the judicial process when police do this type of stuff.

If the man did punch a police woman, how is him becoming a victim of police brutality helping her? Or helping him to be prosecuted for his actions?

MeouwCat · 26/07/2024 00:35

I hope the police officer is reprimanded and allowed to resume his duties. I also hope the supposed victims get nothing in compensation.

People like this sit on juries

Imagine the law agreed with you. Chaos would ensue.

Thank god it doesn’t.

And chaos would ensue if the police sat back and let themselves be target practice for criminals. Because the next targets would be anyone and everyone. Don’t want to risk getting hurt? Then don’t break the law. Simple really.

Justrelax · 26/07/2024 00:56

Obviously the officer's actions were wrong and he has been suspended.

But it's insane that people are protesting and chanting 'no justice no peace'. Get a flipping grip. The justice is the suspension for the wrongful action. Done. The person you are protesting on behalf of is a violent criminal who broke a woman's nose. But it's a nice bandwaggon to jump on I'm sure. I couldn't care less what race the disgusting, violent, criminal thug on the floor is. He didn't deserve to get kicked in the head but he did deserve to get strongly, physically subdued and I hope he gets a very long and unpleasant punishment for his actions.

Are you thick? If someone broke your nose then lay on the floor would you consider him no threat to anyone? You either want police to manage violent criminals by speaking their own language or nothing, scum like that don't respond to anything else.

I'd have to be thick to try arguing with you.

yhk · 26/07/2024 02:03

Regardless of what happened prior to the footage, a police officer has no right to kick and stamp on a person's head when they are laying on the floor. If he was resisting arrest previously, use of force (to an extent) to detain would have course been acceptable.

If the guy did indeed attack the three police officers prior to the video, the officer should have kept a cool head and acted within the law and their training.

If they are both guilty of their alleged offences, I hope they both have the book thrown at them.

lemonmeringueno3 · 26/07/2024 04:27

A human response from the police officers, who were running on adrenaline after a violent confrontation. What sort of audacious thug breaks a police officer's nose in an airport. But of course, completely unacceptable and we hold the police to higher standards, not to mention that he has handed a gift to people who delight in criticising and protesting against them. No idea what the protests of 'no justice' are about - he's been suspended while it's being investigated, there's your justice.

Gummybear23 · 26/07/2024 06:22

pinkstripeycat · 25/07/2024 22:16

You have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. Most of these people are known to the police and you have no idea of what has happened already. You are just looking at a short video clip

Been kicked in the head by armed officers is unacceptable in any situation.

How would you react if this was your family member.

Exactly , judging the situation from a short, clearly edited clip.

Please explain exactly how you know that the clip is edited and the process used to edit it it, so that it shows an innocent Policeman, who didn't kick a subdued man in the head and then stamp on him.

Does anyone remember the Kingsnorth Power Station protest, where Police claimed 70 Police were injuried, with the imputation that the protestors were violent? It turned out to be wasp stings, tripping over, wrenching his back opening a car door etc.

https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2008/dec/15/kingsnorth-climate-change-environment-police

Police were accused of using aggressive tactics, confiscating everything from toilet rolls and board games to generators and hammers. But ministers justified what they called the "proportionate" £5.9m cost of the operation, pointing out that 70 officers had been injured in the course of their duties.

But data obtained under the Freedom of Information Act puts a rather different slant on the nature of those injuries, disclosing that not one was sustained in clashes with demonstrators.

The Police lie, it's that simple. They say that they have body camera footage, why haven't the released it? Surely they want to prove their innocence?

xiaotuziguigui · 26/07/2024 06:58

From what I can gather the guy who was kicked and his brother were there to pick up their mother who was flying in. The mother had some problem on the plane and when she told her sons about it they kicked off at a third party in arrivals I don't know how badly behaved they were at that point.
And that is how they came to the attention of the police.

It amazes me that someone can go to the airport to pick up mum, probably expecting to be back home looking at photos and drinking tea within the hour. But end up fighting police officers and getting their head literally kicked in.
How on earth did it escalate to such levels of violence on both sides? How come it the police were unable to talk them down?

Northernnature · 26/07/2024 07:18

In alot of countries this person would have been shot by police. This was at an airport with all the security risks. No sympathy for someone who breaks a woman's nose. This country is so weak and pathetic at the moment.

Have you found any confirmation at all that the man kicked in the head broke the police officer's nose? Because I haven't.

hmm @Gummybear23 it’s fine to watch a 12 second clip and make judgements, but did you also read this:

”During our response, three officers were assaulted. One female officer suffered a broken nose and the other officers were forced to the ground and suffered injuries which required hospital treatment.”

Do you know what it takes to subdue an unruly suspect who has attacked multiple officers and hospitalised one?

Perhaps some of the keyboard protesters who weirdly open a thread to get everyone piling in (excuse the allusion) could ask themselves what preceded this footage, and what does it take to subdue someone who has been that violent and belligerent in the lead up?

But they had subdued him why keep kicking?!

This is the same force that was found to be illegally strip searching women a week ago.

The attempts to justify the use of potentially lethal force by kicking and stamping someone in the head whilst they are in the prone position is still blowing my mind.

The ignoring of the continued violence on the second man shown to be sat with his hands behind his head following instructions is still blowing my mind.

If the man violently assaulted by this police officer had broken a police officers nose what would the punishment have been? Jail time/fine/community service. It certainly wouldn’t be a kick and stamp to the head handed down as sentence so how are people ok with this! Police officers are not employed to dish out justice!

You really think so? When now he’s become the victim and got a whole city of people on his side condemning the police?

I doubt it.
