Obviously this is lighthearted but jeez the crunching and slurping is unreal.

This usually happens when you're feeling agitated already or up tense

OMG! My DH is sitting 3 feet from me, eating a salad. "Crunch, crunch, crunch..scrape, scrape, scrape..." Like fingernails on a chalkboard!

I am chanting...."this wasn't in the vows, this wasn't in the vows. I hate to garden, I hate to garden."

Whew, he is done. For now. He lives another day to annoy me another way. Bless him.

All that is left is the strong smell of vinegar. Luckily, I like that smell (our DS does not).

It's the crisp eating. He manages to crinkle up the bag each time he puts his hand in it and then the mindless crunch crunch crunch. Drives me bloody insane.

We do actually need a new patio. And I like the sound of the MN meet up...hmmm...🤔😉

No way!! I thought it was just mine that did that!! (Plus his dad). Absolutely drives me potty.

I'll add to the mix the EXTREMELY loud breathing through his nose while he eats. I can't hear anyone else breathing, because they're girls. He's there breathing in and out of his nose noisily like he's doing some kind of extreme yoga 😡😡

I have joked with mine that he'd be perfect but for his insistence on breathing 😂

I can’t even read the thread,I can’t abide that sound…I can’t be present with certain people eating…it triggers my worst self.i find it so rude and bad manners to eat loudly.it’s disgusting.

Aerialpigeon · 22/07/2024 23:36

Mine gets personally offended that I can’t stay in the room and listen to him eat a digestive biscuit or a cucumber stick

GeneralMusings · 23/07/2024 00:57

Wow so many of us. I'd assumed mine was a sensory/neurodiverse thing. But maybe it's more of us than that?

Certainly my parents used to get so cross with me for flinching or getting upset.

At least now with my daughter struggling too I get it!

I think DP has been reading this thread and seen my comment! We've just eaten toast in the same room (unusual), sitting on the same settee (unheard of) and there was no chomping, inhaling, open-mouth crunching or clicking jaw! There's hope for the man who sounds like he's eating concrete instead of soup!

Nanaof1 · 23/07/2024 20:30

I just had the most horrid experience. Someone was eating really moist banana nut bread and the sound was horrible. It sounded like they had to keep forcing their jaws apart, and it made the most annoying noise.

Then it dawned on me that it was me eating it. Oh Lawd!😬😳
