To think 'chav' is not an okay thing to call people?

I find the use of chav on Mumsnet shocking. Is this name chavvy? Is this holiday destination chavvy? Is this outfit chavvy? Chavs moved in next door (I'm a leaseholder, they rent!!!!)

I understand its snobbiness but isn't it a bit horrible?

You'd describe it as just that. "Cheap and tasteless looking."

A "chav" is a person. And not only a person, but a stereotype of a person.

"Snobby" specifically refers to a behaviour. Anyone, even the poorest people, can be snobby. "Chavvy" is describing many things. Clothes. Homes. Schools. Behaviours. Even accents. And it all boils down to a caricature of the working class. It's the same as calling someone "ghetto."

It’s not working class though is it it’s a type of behaviour from a sub section of society. You can be right on and virtue signal all you like but we all know who is meant.

Having had the misfortune to live next door to some years ago my leftie sympathy cup has run dry for individuals that behave like that.
