Royal Children - Time for State school?

Should the Royal Family children be educated in state schools? Why do they get to attend private schools on taxpayers money? Is this something the Labour government could push for?

Security for them in a state school could be a nightmare.

Meowzabub · 17/07/2024 15:46

No.

Security would be a bloody nightmare in a state school.

Corrag · 17/07/2024 15:46

Don't think that's practical. Can you imagine the security they'd have to put on?

SoupDragon · 17/07/2024 15:46

Absolutely ridiculous.

There shouldn't be "royal" children at all. The UK should become a democracy.

Cangar · 17/07/2024 15:47

This is obviously a non starter for a number of reasons but why would security be harder at a state school?

cupcaske123 · 17/07/2024 15:48

It's never going to happen because of security for a start. We're a nation of fore lock tuggers. We keep an hereditary head of state with unknown amounts of wealth and privilege because we think they're better than us. They therefore deserve the best education money can buy.

microplastic · 17/07/2024 15:48

Why would security be an issue, I'm sure that can be accommodated. Don't think it's strong enough a reason.

Hahahahaha

SemperIdem · 17/07/2024 15:49

I wouldn’t want the “royal children” at school with my child. Would rather my child didn’t go to a school that became a terrorist target.

Even if it was a state school, it wouldn't be your local inner city comp.

I believe this should be the case too.

No, imagine our future king being educated in a school like I attended. Just no.

What about a democratically elected head of state?

coxesorangepippin · 17/07/2024 15:52

Never gonna happen

Why not? We've had threads heavily debating the VAT, with posters saying that private school parents are snobs. Surely the UK state school system is good enough for the royal family. It's good enough for the rest of us.

AngryLikeHades · 17/07/2024 15:53

I hate the fact that the royal children need tight security and surveillance, but they definitely need it! Of course they do!
Why do they need it, because there's some very strange people about and there's also some well meaning people that want to get intrusive photos of them. There's some power hungry dickheads about that would love to hold them to ransom and all sorts. Of course they need security, even some of the minor royals do.

keylimedog · 17/07/2024 15:53

Why should they go to a state school when their parents have the ability to pay for private education without it being a worry? I'd want my children educated by the best means I could afford possible in their position which probably would be a private school in their area.

I don't think children of royalty should be pawns in the game of state school vs public school, I also don't think that the general public should have any say in how another family (even if it's the royal family!) decide to educate their kids / spend their money.

Mate, I'm as working class as they come but this is a shit idea. 😂 If a gunman entered a school looking for the Royal kids how many state school kids would get taken out in the ensuing chaos?

Why should royal children go to state schools more than those of wealthy politicians, celebs, etc. To make a point?

Ridiculous

Meowzabub · 17/07/2024 15:54

You'd be the first person to complain about Security protocols if they attended your child's school.

There is a reason there was an exodus and complaints from the school they moved to a couple of years ago. It is not fun to attend a school with the royal children.

They currently attend schools you know. Surely security measures can be put in, More cost effective than the full cost of their private education.
