To NOT support England ???

I’m not English. I have lived in England for a very long time. I do not support the England football team, I frequently support their opposition!

Colleague has taken the England loss hard, and said ‘ I bet you’re glad they lost’ - I replied that I was essentially a neutral but thought Spain deserved the win.

Hes gone off in a big old rant about how if I live here I should be supporting England teams etc.
I think he should have a wee lie down and chill out!

YABU - you SHOULD support the team of a country you’ve made a life in - even if you are from a former colony of that country

YANBU - of course you don’t have to support a national team that’s not yours

But we don’t know their nationality do we or has it been revealed now!

Sorry, assumption based on what I’ve seen is the Scottish attitude towards the English team.

I’m Scottish. I don’t know a single person who supports England. Even a couple of family members who have married English people don’t want them to win.

However, there is a very small section of fans of one particular football club who align themselves with England, even over their own country. They also align themselves with Israel, orange walks and right-wing fascism. If your support for England is a result of you being part of that small section then you have absolutely no place calling anyone a bigot.

I understand you're trying to wind people up @DanielGault but it's getting boring and it's not coming across as funny, you're just sounding like you can't follow a conversation.
We've established (more than once?) that you don't disagree with me because you haven't referenced anything I've said to either agree or disagree to. And no, you don't need anyone's permission..the very point being made 🥴. Nobody is expecting you to support one team or another.

I’ll remind you how we did, we never got out of the group stages, never have. Sometimes we haven’t even got into the competition, but we’ve won just as many tournaments as England in the last 58 years and at least our reputation is not in tatters - quite the opposite. For a country 10 times smaller most of us are happy with that.

She responded to someone who called her scottish with a nope earlier in the thread, and referred to "the Scots" and queried a poster who suggested she move to Scotland.

Unless she's lied outright with her response it's clear she isn't Scottish.

Come on, our sports are brilliant. And they do have the occasional compromise rules with Aussie rules football. And games in NY and London . I don't think we need to apologise for not having too much competition.
