To dig up the patio and put dh under it?

*lighthearted
Obviously I won’t do it. The grounds too hard for a start!
So I’ve just returned home to find the washing machine on with all my white clothes in PLUS ds grey fleece and other none whites.
Dh has done it. I asked him what the grey item in with my whites was and he replied oh your grey fleece I guess. Turns out it’s ds’s dark grey fleece.
I have specifically told dh to not wash my white clothes after he ruined ever white item he washed previously.
He turned all my underwear a dirty grey colour and I could never restore it back to white.
So now I see my brand new white bra in there! The one I replaced my old one with after he ruined it!
Do not reply with how lucky I am to have a dh who can work a washing machine. I’ve worked 6 days this week. Dh will be off for the next 3 days.
He says I’m ungrateful.
I say he should wash only whites or leave my stuff the fuck alone.
Seriously I bought all new underwear after the last time.

DH and I wash all our respective by ourselves. Both have had previous marriages and, I admit, I'm particularly pernickety and I have IBS so do not want him touching anything of mine. Sort the rules and abide by what ever you decide. He also seems to sort washing towels and bedding although I think that's because he retired 6 years before me - and it still rankles! 😁

Greenhelium · 15/07/2024 19:53

You know you can hire mini excavators quite cheaply to dig a patio up ? 😆😆

CRD67 · 15/07/2024 20:24

He ruins your stuff he pays to replace it.

A rather generous penalty considering.

JackyPaper · 15/07/2024 20:56

One of the myriad reasons why I got divorced. If he doesn’t care enough to get your laundry right - then he doesn’t care enough.

LammasEve · 15/07/2024 21:02

I voted YANBU because it's never unreasonable to put your DH under the patio. Just make sure you level it off properly afterwards as it's a pain having a lumpy patio.

Summerinspringtime · 15/07/2024 21:08

Thank you ladies you have all made me smile.

Don’t bury him under your patio, they’ll look there first. Maybe we could have a MN thread where we discreetly offer spaces to pop random DH/DPs instead with a secret code word, I’m thinking property/diy or gardening boards?

I'm fascinated with the idea of a dedicated white wash though, I’m more of a Chuck it all in and hope for the best kind of woman.

😆😆 @watering The hard ground.

Demonhunter · 15/07/2024 21:25

First thing that popped into my head seeing the title was "tick tock Trev's clock" Strange what the mind remembers for word association 😂

Bubbles90 · 15/07/2024 21:48

Start digging up your patio.

There is an obvious solution to this and I don't understand why you haven't thought of it.

Leave the hose running overnight on a secluded part of the garden and the ground will soften up nicely.

😂😂😂

This is why I offered my drive. I think I guessed at 35 bodies total. Help yourselves.

Apart from doing the washing yourself (seeing as he won't leave it alone), the answer is not to buy a lot of white clothing or bedding.

No it's not.

For starters she told him she'd do it herself and not to do her stuff, he did it anyway.

The answer is for her DH to start respecting her or facing the consequences of his disrespect, whatever OP feels that should be.

See the woman who left over a dirty tea cup. It's only ever the tip of the iceberg.

My DH is perfectly capable of separating and washing things, but if I say "please leave X alone", he will. Because he also respects me enough to pay attention to me.

After 25 years I have learnt that DH are mostly useless at laundry and completely untrainable. Let him do the dishes or load the dishwasher instead. You get the odd broken mug but it's safer this way, honestly.

Mine is only allowed to use the washing machine with strict supervision now. He was allowed to wash his own clothes at one point until he accidentally ruined things of mine by putting delicates in a cotton wash which he'd picked up in error. It's just not worth the risk. 😉

Omg this made me laugh!

GabriellaFaith · 16/07/2024 15:54

I would also be cross.

I don't know if you have the space, but we have 4 separate baskets in a tall cupboard and I have labeled them at the front with instructions lol.

1 for whites, 1 for colours, 1 for delicates, 1 for hot wash. The delicates label actually says on it MUM TO WASH ONLY 🤣

Oooooh like an MN modern day Strangers on a Train?!

Daleksatemyshed · 16/07/2024 18:32

I'm glad you've found it in your heart not to bury him under the patio Op. For future reference, just in case, maybe you'd like to start a compost heap?

reesewithoutaspoon · 16/07/2024 19:25

Honestly, I would avoid the patio. It would be heartbreaking to see your slabs sink in a few years time.
