@Janiie
I know it is unbelievable that in a country of 300 million people this is the best they can do. It is truly scary !

This is why people turn against politics. Even Trump winning in 2016 was a result of people turning off politics. They see him as the anti-politician. You look at the Senate and its full of people who shouldnt be making decisions about their great grand children's future
Pelosi: 84
Bernie Sanders (as much as I love him): 82
Angus King: 80
Dianne Feinstein died in office at 90
Mitch McConnell 82
Chuck Grassley 90, and a few more. Then there are those 70+

And its not just that they are in Senate. They are influential. And even when they hardly contribute (Diane was a very good example of that) they still get voted in. Am not being ageist. I know several of them are very active and could outrun me. But when the system allows this, you get Biden and Trump for presidential candidate. People see same circus, same clown, shame shit, different day

The comments on this thread show how batshit crazy the ‘progressives’ are. The liberal left are genuinely threatening, violent and intolerant. Wonder how they square this with their fake morality.

Exactly this. The self proclaimed called “good guys” are quickly on the path to being the “bad guys”, yet the worrying thing is that they genuinely don’t even realise it.

When the pendulum swings too far right it is an awful thing (eg Hitler), but the swing to the left that is currently happening is no good thing either.

Unfortunately the vast majority won’t realise this until it’s gone too far and then we will spend decades picking up the pieces.

Or being a bit cynical, if you wanted to keep winding up Trump supporters, what sort of things would you post ? Not saying anyone on here is bot or a troll, but there must be thousands of them around the world right now rubbing their grubby little hands together in glee, such is the scope for furthering division.

Why are you assuming the gun-toter was right wing?

The rhetoric of 'left wing = good, right wing = bad' that the media wants you to believe was put to bed years ago.

100% some left-wing crazy did this!

Sky News has said that the shooter is thought to have been a registered member of the Republican Party. Hardly the marker of a "left wing crazy".

We don't actually know the motivations of the gunman yet, so best not to make assumptions. The nutter that attempted to assassinate Ronald Reagan had a weird obsession with Jodie Foster and did it because he wanted to get Foster's attention.

What happened yesterday was abhorrent. But it is also pretty grim to see people trying to make political capital out of it. Let's wait and see what the investigation throws up before leaping to any conclusions.

MgW1 · 14/07/2024 12:25

What a ledge fight fight fight!!!! He's controversial business man , he kept Putin close and now look whats happened .....!.young Ukrainian men dragged from their homes and made to fight for what?! Meanwhile on home soil , our new government wants to release a load of prisoners , some of whom were involved in girls grooming gangs , ironic that at the time these girls were being groomed and exploited , Keir starmer had a top job in the police and did nothing 😒

a registered member but donated to Biden?
I wonder if he registered so he could get a security clearance for entering a rally zone

CaveMum · 14/07/2024 12:26

icelolly12 · 14/07/2024 11:18

Doubt he was actually a Republican, he probably registered as one so he could get advance information about where the rallies were etc so he could do his planning

He registered as a Republican in 2021 according to the screenshots circulating on Twitter.

Call me ageist, but I think there should be an upper limit on serving as President or Prime minister. People do lose their mental acuity and stamina. They also get stuck in a rut or regress to attitudes and get are decades out of date. The Church of England has had an upper age limit of 70 for a long time. It makes room for the next generation.

Dymaxion · 14/07/2024 12:28

He was outside the perimeter beyond the security restrictions, although why those buildings weren't included is one question that will probably need to be answered.

Newsenmum · 14/07/2024 12:28

OvaHere · 14/07/2024 09:59

What makes you think that? By all accounts he was a young white man, graduated school, won a national prize for maths/science. There's nothing reported at the moment that suggests his life wouldn't have been just fine. Certainly nothing to warrant him now having no life at all.

Because he would have known that he would’ve been killed for it. So you need a pretty big reason. People in the USA suffered a lot under Trump.

tothesea · 14/07/2024 12:28

Where did the flag come from in the fist pumping money shot? I can’t see it anywhere in the wide frame. I’m no conspiracist but there is something very off about this whole incident There’s a women in a white dress behind Trump who barely flinches when shots sound and films the entire thing. It’s important we are allowed to question what we are fed as information in this messed up world.

There’s definitely more to it than the “oh he was a psycho gun-toting Republican” which most are desperate to be the reason.

We really do need to wait and see what comes out when a thorough investigation has taken place, rather than jumping to conclusions.

It always happens, though. Just this morning so many posters were adamant it was a set-up and Trump had fake blood on him. It was only when it was announced that folk had died they suddenly retracted their statements and changed their tune.

I'm not sure that makes the right any better, just because they don't even pretend.

Horseshoe theory suggests that the extremes at both ends are far closer to each other than the moderate middle, so are you going to try and claim that the conservative right are not threatening, violent and intolerant in equal measure?

It takes two to start a fight (or a war).

Really? Did the 'liberal left' break into Capitol Hill and initiate an insurrection?

ANTIFA, just stop oil and BLM have caused a bit of nuisance here and there. More or less than a few dozen idiots on a day trip to the capitol, I don’t know?

There is so much wrong with this post.

Firstly, the government doesn't want to release prisoners early. They have been left with very little choice because the previous government failed to address an acute lack of capacity within our prison system.

Secondly, please link to your evidence about the grooming gang members being amongst the prisoners that will be released. Everything that I have read has made it very clear that anyone with a history of sexual offences and/or domestic violence etc will be excluded from the early release scheme, so I would be interested to know what you're basing this claim on.

Thirdly, you don't seem to know what you're talking about with regard to Starmer's previous career...he didn't have "a top job in the police".

People spreading misinformation like the above sadly contribute to the toxicity of our political culture. It isn't helpful.

I’m so jealous of the photography skills of the person who snapped this shot. Trump’s head almost dead centre, just enough zoom to get the entire clenched fist, and the stars and stripes also completely in shot, just touching the edge and obeying the rule of thirds. And no blur or camera shake at all. An incredible photo. No doubt Trump will make a lot of use of it on his campaign

They were probably videoing, and it's a still.
Editing is done a lot on professional {and amateur} footage/pictures.

That most definitely will have been cropped down.

"They" will be saying all sorts of things. We need to focus on the evidence, rather than idle speculation.

The truth is, we don't know yet. He might be a left wing nutter. He might be a right wing nutter. He might be just a nutter without a political motivation at all. We'll have to wait and see.

Whatever his motivations, what he did was utterly wrong.
