The last time we had anything resembling a leftwing government we got the welfare state, the NHS, free education for life, dragged the country out of recession and built loads of social housing. I'd have thought that's the kind of government we need right now.

Yes, I thought that. Professional cameramen and photographers would have been in close proximity to him anyway and are constantly either filming or shooting dozens of shots in very quick succession. That's how they get great photos, not by waiting for the exact right moment, or by just being lucky to be in the right place at the right time. They do it by taking masses of shots in the hope that one or two will be perfect.

If you’re talking about the Rotherham child grooming scandal that was ongoing from the 1980’s to 2013, that was down to the failure of the local authority to report information in their possession about what was going on. They didn’t. The first group prosecutions took place in 2010 - during Starmers’ time as DPP, when a group of five British Pakistani men stood trial. Rotherham Council's chief executive, its director of children's services, and the police and crime commissioner for South Yorkshire police. all resigned. And prosecutions for the Rochdale child sex ring took place in 2012 - again during Starmers’ time as DPP. So how exactly did he ‘do nothing’ ?

Maybe not condemning people for not sharing their own views and in the interests of broadening one’s horizons, being more willing to listen to viewpoints which may not sit well with one’s own, might be a start.
