CNN mentioned that the shooter has donated money to Democrats in the past.

Strange situation. I saw it mentioned that Pennsylvania has closed primaries and a lot of people not Republican registered R to vote for Nikki Haley.

Who knows though. There are Republicans who hate Trump.

If someone shot his ear then someone behind him would have been seriously injured or killed by the bullet
What a load of shite.

People behind him indeed were injured, and one killed.....

Ladyslip · 14/07/2024 09:48

Wow. Only read the first page in this thread but what a classic example of how dumb, morally compromised people can think they are smart and morally righteous.

Morally bankrupt conspiracy theorists preaching that it’s staged, ‘was he fuck’ . And my favorite for sheer stupidity ‘it only nicked his ear’. 🙄. I pity those who can’t see the absolutely lack of intelligence in this.

Democracy relies on candidates being safe to speak and rally and campaign, however much you hold them in contempt. Democracy is essential.

Channellingsophistication · 14/07/2024 09:49

It’s odd that the crowd seem quite relaxed in the video. Im sure in that situation my immediate reaction wouldnt be to get my phone out, I’d be lying on the floor. Or are shootings so commonplace in US now…. This will be very helpful to Trump’s campaign and disasterous that a convicted felon could be president again.

They are valid for those who think democracy is dispensable, sure.

PostItInABook · 14/07/2024 09:50

This thread demonstrates all that’s wrong with the internet. Before it existed the stupid, the ignorant and the nasty were confined to their own social bubbles and we didn’t have to hear or read their inane drivel. Now they post their idiocy in full view of the entire world, like their viewpoint is important and worst of all, like their viewpoint is factually correct and worthy of attention. It gets worse and worse with every passing year. The complete lack of ability to think critically and understand the concepts of accountability and social responsibility alongside the dearth in self-awareness is ever growing within our society. It’s scary how thick and ignorant people are about their lack of knowledge and intelligence.

Did you watch a video were the screams of terror and panic were edited out?

Yes, just what I thought. Staged as hell.

Don't be so ridiculous.

US Secret Service statement. 👇

birchtreeoflife · 14/07/2024 09:44

It’s obviously horrible that someone died,
but I can’t help thinking that every single one in that audience was probably very pro-gun.

Yes, and? Does that mean they think it's ok to kill politicians? I don't think so

Newsenmum · 14/07/2024 09:53

They probably saw the guy with a rifle and thought yep typical Trump fan 🤣

I actually wonder about this guy. He probably wouldn’t have much to live for under trumps government :(

That's quite some commitment to staging (edit - content warning - graphic):

This image really is something else

I read earlier that he is a Pulitzer prize winning photographer and despite the gunshots ran across the stage to get that shot. He knows what he's doing

Did I say that? No.

I am saying this and school shootings is what happens when you allow everyone to have guns. It’s madness. Noone thinks it is right, but it is what will keep happening again and again.

BionicBadger · 14/07/2024 09:55

PerfectYear321 · 13/07/2024 23:52

Agree!
Very convenient how nobody else was shot in such a packed place

Do you feel like a prat now for this comment? You should.

Hedgeoffressian · 14/07/2024 09:55

lazzapazza · 14/07/2024 09:45

There are some proper loopy people on here.

So Trump is willing to risk his life by getting shot at by somebody crazy enough to have their life ended when the US officers fire back?

What has he got to gain? Biden was fucking up his election chances all by himself. Absolutely no need for a fake assassination attempt.

Edited

Exactly. Trump pretty much has it in the bag at this point because the Dems are in denial about Biden’s chances of winning given his obvious state of decline. They need to replace him with someone else while they still have time.

PR stunt? Trump and two others were injured. One person died. The shooter was also shot by Secret Service. But yeah, PR stunt. I don't want either Biden or Trump to be president, but I bet you wouldn't have written this post if Biden had been shot.

nomoretoriesforme · 14/07/2024 09:57

@OvaHere To be fair, Trump was demonised by Bidens campaign and gov supported media. The fact that some outlets couldn't even say that it was the assassination attempt but minimised by saying " the incident at the rally " do tell you how hateful they are towards Trump.

People saw the sniper and pointed him out to security service for a good couple of minutes but they did fuck all about it

tobee · 14/07/2024 09:59

The security lapse is what most stuns me most. A pre announced rally held outside? With buildings perfect for a sniper not far away?

What makes you think that? By all accounts he was a young white man, graduated school, won a national prize for maths/science. There's nothing reported at the moment that suggests his life wouldn't have been just fine. Certainly nothing to warrant him now having no life at all.

LordPercyPercy · 14/07/2024 09:59

Can't believe they missed, what a shame

Don't worry, they managed to kill an innocent bystander.

Goldenbear · 14/07/2024 09:59

Again, why? Why would someone who is voting for Democratic policies change their mind, why would an attempted assassination reframe Trump’s policies as something to vote for?
