A scene straight out of Scandal. Fucking PR stunt that all the far right idiots will buy. The blood soaked face and fist pump photo with the secret service surrounding him, looks so orchestrated. It's likely won him the election. This is no assassination attempt

I mean there are the actual dead people so...

TheKeatingFive · 14/07/2024 09:10

You can’t take the lid off a can of worms and then moan because there are worms everywhere.

Conspiracy theories have been around a lot longer than Trump supporters have

Not RTFT but I agree 😞

Really?

There have been fatalities, but your compass here is trashy TV series?

flapjackfairy · 14/07/2024 09:11

@Janiie
I know it is unbelievable that in a country of 300 million people this is the best they can do. It is truly scary !

Dotto · 13/07/2024 23:46

Did he fuck, sounded like a BB gun

US Secret Service statement. 👇

Definitely not a BB gun. 🤦‍♂️

Donald trump!!
Startingagainandagain · 14/07/2024 09:13

I think the shooter achieved the exact opposite of what he wished to do...

Trump is vile, dangerous and he will be a disaster again for America and the world as president but this has massively increased his chances of winning.

Because him standing back up after being shot, raising his fist and shouting 'fight!' is perfect PR for him. That pic with the flag behind him is what the media dream of and he will be able to spin the narrative of the establishment trying to silence him.

Especially if Biden does not do the right thing by standing aside for a more inspiring candidate to take over for the Democrats then Trump will win.

Scary times.

Senator JD Vance - strongly tipped to be Trump's running mate tweeted this.

Yeah. The strongest argument against Trump is that's he's a danger to democracy. Today makes it harder for Democrats to attack Trump as strongly ad they otherwise would and gives him a great response and attack line.

I'd be very surprised if this doesn't work out well for Trump electorally - I think there'll be something akin to a rally-around-the-flag effect that'll show up in the polls this week.

Hope I'm wrong but Trump is adept at playing the victim when he's the opposite- and here's he's the victim.

BadLad · 14/07/2024 00:44

I’m so jealous of the photography skills of the person who snapped this shot. Trump’s head almost dead centre, just enough zoom to get the entire clenched fist, and the stars and stripes also completely in shot, just touching the edge and obeying the rule of thirds. And no blur or camera shake at all. An incredible photo. No doubt Trump will make a lot of use of it on his campaign

This image really is something else

Jennaveeve · 14/07/2024 09:16

People claiming it was staged when someone actually died and 2 people are critically injured are sick in the head.

Usou · 14/07/2024 09:17

I reckon Melania has to be a suspect.

Seriously, MN moderators are now fine with people advocating for the death of others? In selected cases it would appear - if it's DT or Israelis no problem at all.

Crucible · 14/07/2024 09:18

Yep totally take back all I said, I am so sorry, this is awful. Have they named the person in the crows who was killed? what on earth happened with the sec perimeter?

Crucible · 14/07/2024 09:19

Crowd! Not crows. Bloody autocorrect

ChardonnaysBeastlyCat · 14/07/2024 09:19

Anybody else and this thread would have been gone as not in the spirit.

CaveMum · 14/07/2024 09:21

The Secret Service are going to have some serious questions to answer. Surely it should be standard procedure to lockdown all nearby buildings that might have a vantage point for a would-be assassin, though I’m aware TSSDNCOP (sorry couldn’t resist it 😉)

That being said, whilst I abhor Donald Trump and everything he stands for, it is totally unacceptable that anyone should resort to this level of violence. I hope the Democrats (or by all accounts The Biden’s) open their eyes and realise that this man will win the election if they don’t take action to replace Biden now.

This image is going to go down as being a part of some of the most iconic pictures in American politics.
I do think this has bolstered his chances of winning.

Good on you for coming back and saying sorry

Not sure what went wrong with security

TheFirmBiscuit · 14/07/2024 09:22

And to think Trump was afraid of 🦈

Valeriekat · 14/07/2024 09:24

cupcaske123 · 13/07/2024 23:45

Well they nicked his ear but yeah he was shot at.

1 person was killed and 2 were critically injured at a political rally.
Don't trivialise what just happened.

Agree!
Very convenient how nobody else was shot in such a packed place

errr some one was killed and another seriously injured.

hippopotty · 14/07/2024 01:44

I don't understand the shooter's motive?? You would think a right wing gun totter would go for Biden... So someone who wants Biden to win??

You see, this sort of attitude is so typical of the progessive left. Is it totally beyond your comprehension that angry, sanctimonious people who will resort to violence in the belief that it is justified are not always far right wing? People on all sides who believe they hold the moral high ground will attempt to subvert democracy by any means if they truly believe it's for 'the common good'.

We don't have to look far to see plenty of examples of people who are not acting for the far right resorting to violence or intimidation in the name of whatever cause they think justifies it. The shooting of the right wing Slovakian prime minister a few weeks ago, by a mild mannered 71 year old writer. People hurling things at Nigel Farage, who needs a security team wherever he goes, the killing of Sir David Amess, the bullying and intimidation of Jess Phillips, Shabana Mahmood and Jonathan Ashworth by activists for Palestine. Rosie Duffield, by trans activists. The social justice warrior types on the pro-Palestine marches. The left wing agitators rioting in Paris when they thought Marine Le Pen was going to win the recent election. By contrast, did we see Le Pen's supporters rioting when they were denied their almost certain victory by a hastily cobbled together plot to keep them out? No. We did not.

But as it's clearly okay to spout conspiracy theories on this thread, personally I would not put it past the current government of the USA to take out Donald Trump and stage it as the work of a random individual.

Biden no longer knows what day of the week it is, and there is currently no obvious suitable candidate to step into the breach. Time is running out and Donald Trump is not incarcerated as they'd hoped. I think the Democrats are becoming increasingly desperate. Is there anything they would not resort to, to stop him being the next president? Again, because they believe they have the moral high ground and they tell themselves they would be saving America and saving the world. If it were not for the fact that the apparent shooter is dead but Donald Trump isn't, I'd have put money on it that this was their attempt already.

Linzi2377 · 14/07/2024 09:26

And they say the right is hateful eh?

Echobelly · 14/07/2024 09:27

My DH reckons this has won him the election, but I'm not so sure. The red hat lot will lap this up and there will be conspiracies galore and of course they are already saying Biden ordered it etc, but they are not the majority of Trump voters.

The picture will be iconic though - makes him look brave and defiant. Sadly.

For guys like Trump, shooters usually turn out to be someone from their own side who thinks they haven't gone far enough, or 'voices in their head' types. Although for the red hats it won't matter - if he was a Republican, he'll just be written off as a deep state agent or something.

So will Trump use the killed and injured for more publicity or will he ignore them to keep the focus on himself?
