Schoolgirls spiked my daughter’s drink with laxatives.

This is more of a WWYD I guess.

My daughter has been bullied recently at school, some physical, some verbal and this week the bullies poured laxatives into her water bottle at lunchtime and I had to leave work to collect her.

I’ve not heard anything more from the school or the parents and the children are still in school.

I’m interested to hear what you think and what you would do in this situation as this is not acceptable.

I would 100% honestly file a police report for assault. How old are they?

CormorantStrikesBack · 12/07/2024 17:28

I’d contact the police.

Blackcats7 · 12/07/2024 17:28

I would be contacting the police. Poisoning is criminal behaviour.

Motomum23 · 12/07/2024 17:29

Definitely police. Your dd has been drugged. What if it had been a huge amount of soluable paracetamol instead.

MounjaroUser · 12/07/2024 17:29

I would definitely contact the police, too. Police first, school second, in fact.

Booksandflowers · 12/07/2024 17:29

Oh my god. What if she’d been allergic or had a terrible reaction? (Other than the obvious which is bad enough!) That could have been so dangerous. I would be escalating and taking to the police as another poster has mentioned.

Valhalla17 · 12/07/2024 17:29

How do you know there were laxatives in her bottle? If you're absolutely sure of this it's very serious indeed.

I would report it to the police and then write to the school to outline the situation and request an urgent meeting on Monday.

Gymrabbit · 12/07/2024 17:30

at my school I’m pretty sure this. Would cause something like a 3 day exclusion minimum.
It would definitely be taken very seriously. Its also illegal coming under the offences against the person act and theoretically could be punished by 5 years in prison.

Allmarbleslost · 12/07/2024 17:30

I would absolutely contact the police.

Valhalla17 · 12/07/2024 17:31

Your poor daughter by the way. I hope she's OK.
I would also get her seen by the GP to check her over and also ensure this is documented for any police action..

BippityBopper · 12/07/2024 17:31

What happened at school? Do you mean they are aware and didn't inform you or that they are unaware of what happened?

WindsurfingDreams · 12/07/2024 17:32

School should be getting the police involved. If they don't then I would contact the police myself and also the LEA and Ofsted and the governors. Wow, your poor daughter.

Quite aside from anything, noone should administer a drug to someone without their consent as they could be allergic to it (or one of the ingredients) or it could be contraindicated for some other reason

Ellegeebee · 12/07/2024 17:32

That is assault and I would be contacting the police as other posters have said. Your poor daughter, I am so sorry this has happened to her.

Frazzledmum123 · 12/07/2024 17:32

Yes another one for calling the police. These kind of kids need to understand that there are serious consequences to their actions and you cannot go about drugging people. Beyond disgusting behaviour and maybe the school will be more inclined to act on it with the police on their back!

KillerTomato7 · 12/07/2024 17:32

Immediate call to the police. This is poisoning. Did your daughter suffer any ill effects?

Everydayimhuffling · 12/07/2024 17:35

Contact the police and then let the school know that I had done so. Then I'd ask them what they planned to do to ensure that children were safe in the school in the future, since they have failed in their safeguarding duty.

Createausername1970 · 12/07/2024 17:36

How do you know they were laxatives?

I agree about reporting it, but only if it's clear cut and you are sure you know exactly who did what.

The other thing I would suggest is be completely sure your DD hasn't done anything equally stupid to them. I am not saying she has, but if you are going to involve the police you need to know it won't back fire on you.

TickTickTockItsaQuartertoTwo · 12/07/2024 17:38

i would also call the police, the school haven’t acted and she could have had a dangerous electrolyte abnormality. Always run it through an adult filter. What would I do if someone in the office did this to me…… don’t dismiss it as they are teenagers.

NeverDropYourMooncup · 12/07/2024 17:39

Section 24 Offences Against the Person Act. Can carry a custodial sentence or extensive community work.

I'd report it to the Police and they can have the absolute fright of their lives.

Mumof1andacat · 12/07/2024 17:40

You need to speak with the police. A spiked drink is a spiked drink regardless of the medication used

CherieBabySpliffUp · 12/07/2024 17:42

I agree with others, contact the police and the school. Though to be fair I would expect the police to contact the school after you have spoken to them.

ouch321 · 12/07/2024 17:43

Not clear what happened.

How did they get hold of her bottle and did they literally drop the tablets into the bottle in front of her, otherwise how would she know?

Presumably she didn't drink it knowing it was contaminated so why did you have to pick her up early?

Doesn't make sense.

clarepetal · 12/07/2024 17:45

Is your daughter OK?

Mumof2girls2121 · 12/07/2024 17:46

I’d report to police. This is actual bodily harm. It’s disgusting behaviour and they should be warned.
im not suggesting sending them to prison but don’t put things in peoples drinks is pretty basic manners.

FateReset · 12/07/2024 17:46

Are you certain her drink was spiked or was it a threat? Or was she ill and suspected something had been added to her water?

I assume you've kept the bottle as even empty it would have detectable traces?

What type of laxative was it? Syrup form or a dissolvable type?
