Vinted seller getting stroppy

MochaMad · 11/07/2024 21:30

5 Vinted parcels were left on my doorstep by Yodel today. I was out all day and by the time I got home the parcels were not there. I have a photo in the tracking for each item of the pile of parcels and it’s marked as ‘left in a safe place: front porch’… I have no porch. They have done this before and the parcels didn’t disappear, but I complained. I have contacted Yodel and they told me to claim via Vinted and they will refund me. Yodel apologised and said the driver was at fault.

The AIBU element of this is that one of the five sellers is getting stroppy with me because I marked her parcel as not arrived. She’s wanting me to report to the police and claim from Yodel and clearly cross with me because the item (£6 hand cream) is now ‘suspended’.

She seems to think Vinted won’t compensate because Yodel have a photo of a pile of parcels on my doorstep.

So far no response from Vinted.

From experience, vinted customer services are really crappy and almost certainly side with the seller most of the time :( good luck, hopefully it's resolved for you, if not claim back through your bank

HollaHolla · 16/07/2024 18:32

God. I have the same problem with Yodel. I've spoken to the driver personally (he doesn't have much English), I've updated the file, I've spoken to the depot. He insists on leaving it on my doorstep, in full view of anyone/everyone. I get it, that they have quotas, and short time scales, but this seems absolutely basic for me. If I see a company uses Yodel, I now don't buy from them.

stopringingme · 16/07/2024 19:22

@MochaMad

Contact - legal @ vinted . co .uk (without the spaces) they are usually more helpful.

Send them the screenshots or emails from yodel confirming they are admitting liability.

Did you have to fill in the forms to say you did not receive thr items.

Also put something on your local Facebook page to see if anyone has got your parcels as it might prick their conscious to return them to you.

On vinted sellers are always suspicious of buyers and think they are trying to rip them off.

You followed the correct procedure and if people bothered to read the T&Cs that they sign up to they would know how things work.

Agree their customer services are terrible - but they definitely don’t side with the seller!

There's no perfect system - I just got charged to pick up a parcel at the post office because someone in Royal Mail didn't realise it was an Evri parcel and marked it as no postage paid - however good the systems are, human error still exists.

And tracking is shit - often doesn't update for days and it's still showing as in a depot right up until the point it's delivered. This doesn't help people at all.

Sometimes no one is in the wrong and vinted should suck it up and pay both parties because that's what the buyer protection fee is for!

Yes - I’ve also had a similar incident lately on top of this 4 stolen parcel palaver, A seller didn’t put on correct postage and I had to pay £7 to receive the parcel (I actually thought it was something else). She’s refusing to sort it out. Vinted won’t resolve it as Royal Mail isn’t part of their tracking system. Again…who pays? ME Vinted customer services really are a shower of shite.

@MochaMad I'm currently waiting for vinted to come back to me on this. Really the post office should refund, as it's their mistake - they can literally see the label when they slap that £7 extra fee on!

Unless you stated that you wanted them left in a safe place then yes its yodels fault, and the contract is between the seller or sender and yodel, not the buyer and yodel. You've done nothing wrong, ignore the comments saying you're being unreasonable.

Vinted doesn’t work that way … the buyer ‘buys’ the shipping label through Vinted, the seller has no control over this. The seller receives a message saying ‘the buyer has sent you a shipping label’. The problem is actually the parcels have been stolen - but that’s being overlooked here ….

Ive sold over 5k items on vinted, I know how it works. Just because the buyer has selected the shipping, doesn't mean its not the seller who sends the item and enters into the agreement with the courier.

bakingmummy21 · 18/07/2024 20:54

This happened to me except I was the seller. Tbh I did freak out a bit when the sale was suspended and the buyer went a bit quiet but I then went through vinted for an update. It took a couple of days but they eventually refunded us both I believe. I did feel for the seller because it wasn’t her fault either and she’d lost out on the item. I think you need to follow the process and see what happens. If you mark the item as received then vinted will release the payment and it’ll be harder resolve. That’s the whole point of clicking “I have an issue” is that it suspends the sale and holds the funds whilst they can investigate.

5, 500, 5k, all the same 🤷‍♀️
The buyer buys the postage and therefore has the contract with the delivery company. The seller needs to show they posted the item, which they did, they have fulfilled their obligation. The buyer needs to address the stolen parcels.

You’ve done what you should have done. I’ve been the seller in this case, and after investigation the buyer had a refund and SO DID I.
because of how the postage is bought by Vinted this is the only way to get your money back.

MistyGreenAndBlue · 11/07/2024 21:35

Tell her YOU cant claim from Yodel as YOU are not their client - she is.
Her job is to refund you and claim back from the courier that SHE hired.

But the buyer chooses the courier.

Yodel have given you this advice because they know the seller will have to pay.

im not surprise the seller is annoyed. I sell stuff on Vinted some months to survive . I’d be making sure you get your refund from Yodel, not the seller .

tttigress · 20/07/2024 08:23

I have recently had some trouble with the delivery of something I bought off eBay.

TBH it actually puts me off buy stuff online, especially from eBay sellers etc. kind of a shame, but I do need to cut down on buying stuff I don't need anyway!!
