Vinted seller getting stroppy

MochaMad · 11/07/2024 21:30

5 Vinted parcels were left on my doorstep by Yodel today. I was out all day and by the time I got home the parcels were not there. I have a photo in the tracking for each item of the pile of parcels and it’s marked as ‘left in a safe place: front porch’… I have no porch. They have done this before and the parcels didn’t disappear, but I complained. I have contacted Yodel and they told me to claim via Vinted and they will refund me. Yodel apologised and said the driver was at fault.

The AIBU element of this is that one of the five sellers is getting stroppy with me because I marked her parcel as not arrived. She’s wanting me to report to the police and claim from Yodel and clearly cross with me because the item (£6 hand cream) is now ‘suspended’.

She seems to think Vinted won’t compensate because Yodel have a photo of a pile of parcels on my doorstep.

So far no response from Vinted.

I’m not out every day - I work from home most of the week. I’m out perhaps 1-2 part days a week. I don’t think it’s unreasonable to expect a courier to at least try knocking on the door and then follow instructions NOT to leave it outside. Try a neighbour or come back. Yodel have told me this is what the drivers are supposed to do.

Anyway….

He did it yet again today. I was upstairs and saw the car arrive. By the time I’d run downstairs he’d gone and left another parcel outside, fuzzy photo of parcel. He did not even knock on the door.

Obviously in future I’ll not chose this option and have it sent to the shop instead.

But some sellers only have Yodel as an option (for those telling me not to use Yodel).

You are in the right.

The seller presumably sent the items with Yodel and Yodel failed to deliver. You have no contract with Yodel - the seller does, so they need to claim from Yodel.

DezTheMoaner · 12/07/2024 13:42

I have had the issue with the locker when I got the wrong item - it wasn’t my fault, because I entered the code I was given. The fault was with the courier who left the wrong parcel In the wrong locker, and I imagine it’s the same in your case. You cannot open any locker except the one allocated to you.

I think lockers are great : I can pick up or drop off stuff whenever I like, but of course the system depends on the delivery person putting the right parcel in the right locker.
Which is why I always check that the parcel has my name and address on it before leaving the locker: I understand that they have cameras, so if it was not my parcel I presume I would be able to prove this....... and you do have to confirm that you have received your parcel via the touchscreen.
You don't say if the issue with your parcel was sorted out?

If you're rarely in and have no safe place then you should use a locker or drop off location. You're very unreasonable indeed.

I or my partner are in most of the time actually…

Yes it was - Vinted refunded me and the seller. Took a good few weeks though.

It was InPost which is digital/QR code so doesn’t have a name and address in the parcel.

Sorry but I think you're BU. A doorstep isn't a safe place for parcels to be left and you should have either arranged for it to be sent to a collection point or tried to be in.

£6 isn't a lot to you but it might be to the seller who is potentially out both her money and the item.

So op should NEVER leave the house even though it could have been nearly two weeks delivery? Hmm that’s logical. Sure my work would understand.
i had a yodel delivery Saturday. I was IN.
they delivered it too the WRONG house, wrong street! Shock

HollyKnight · 12/07/2024 15:11

You can have your parcels delivered to a collection point instead. In my case, Yodel delivers to the local Co-op and Evri delivers to a nearby post office. Sometimes they don't make it that far, but when that happens it's a clear case of "lost in transit" which makes getting refunds and compensation much easier.

But yodel did deliver. And with Vinted, it’s the buyer who pays for the postage label and protection. Seller gets a message saying ‘buyer bought you a postage label’. So, no, OP is not in the right.

OMGsamesame · 12/07/2024 16:01

Everyone saying "it's not a safe place" - OP knows this and has told the courier company this!

I've never used Vinted so unsure of the process.

However, Yodel did not deliver - they left it lying on the ground outside. OP is in the right

No she’s not … yodel delivered - not to OP’s satisfaction, but proof of delivery is there. From the sellers pov, she has proof of delivery 🤷‍♀️ From buyers pov, parcels have been stolen - therefore contact police and yodel 🤷‍♀️

MochaMad · 16/07/2024 12:51

So in conclusion….

Vinted just completed all 4 transactions - leaving me over £50 out of pocket.
Vinted think that ‘delivered’ includes outside a house in full view of the road.
Yodel have admitted fault and now I have to try claiming back from them.
3 of 4 sellers were lovely - very sympathetic (one even offered me a refund)
Yet to see if the stroppy one gives bad feedback.

OP posts:
OooohAhhhh · 16/07/2024 13:00

You need to download the yodel app, it lets you know when a parcel is on its way to you & you can amend the delivery details.

Tbf, it was delivered to your address.

I would chargeback from Vinted. Share the info from Yodel. Or accept the offered refund and chargeback the others.

Vinted are in the wrong here. The law is very clear that chucked outside your front door is not delivered (unless you have specifically asked them to do that).

EsmeSusanOgg · 16/07/2024 13:20

summeroccupation · 16/07/2024 13:13

Tbf, it was delivered to your address.

But that is not the legal definition of delivered under consumer contract regulations (formerly distance selling rules).

TheLette · 16/07/2024 13:29

People quoting the law on what counts as delivered - this law applies to deliveries by BUSINESS sellers only. It does not apply when a CONSUMER seller sold the item.

I'd do a chargeback on Vinted for all the transactions (assuming you paid by card rather than using account credit), but first remove all funds from your account.

MochaMad · 11/07/2024 21:36

I can’t arrange to be in every single day. I go out to work 3 days a week. I have no idea when Yodel will deliver…

But yes - in future I’ll have everything sent to the corner shop to be on the safe side.

I paid for items not received - so am out of pocket too.

Sorry to be dumb, but where do all your other deliveries go? Amazon leave boxes on doorsteps all the time. You should be able to log onto Yodel and nominate a neighbour for parcels.

SayTheWeirdThing · 16/07/2024 13:55

OP - I have had this happen. You can escalate again to Vinted CS and they send a form to fill in that says you will speak to police if needed and sign it. You also have to complain to Yodel and send screenshots to Vinted.

But it's also why I now only use locker delivery. Was so annoying.

SayTheWeirdThing · 16/07/2024 13:56

Also - for posters saying about telling them not to leave things - I have done this for Amazon/Yodel/InPost. I've said there is NO safe space - they pretty much all still leave it on doorstep anyway. It's appalling.

Yes - a couple of Amazon parcels have gone missing in the past and been refunded or replaced with no issues. No quibbles.

I have said no safe place on the Yodel app and suggested my neighbour - but the driver just ignores it. I have now complained to Yodel 6 times and it makes no difference.Yodel admit that the driver isn’t following their guidelines, ie: not doing his job properly,

All future parcels - if I have to receive via Yodel - will go to my local shop.

It’s exhausting following all this stuff up.

I filled in 4 of those forms and they rejected my claim. I don’t get it. Yodel admitted the driver is in the wrong. It’s infuriating and I’m fed up. Putting it down to experience.

@TheLette Unfortunately it was my Vinted credit. I’d sold a load of stuff and decided to treat myself to some things.

I won’t do that again!

I had the same rejection by Vinted when Yodel didn't deliver my order despite filling in all their forms and being willing to go to the Police or whatever they wanted.

Now I get everything delivered to a locker or shop, even though we have a secure parcel room where I live.
