Confirmed the Blackwall tunnel and the new Silvertown tunnel will become toll tunnels in 2025
£4 per crossing 😡😡 add that to the congestion and ULEZ charge hardly worth going to work !!

In underground car parks or residential parking bays. We also have to pay the congestion charge for lots of deliveries and tradesmen driving in to do work on property. If there are so few people living in the zone, as people seem to be arguing, why aren’t they exempt? I don’t care that much but I don’t want to be told that I’m irrelevant.

So you can afford the (high) cost of a CC zone property, plus the (high) cost of a parking space in the CC zone, plus the general running costs of a car, plus the (high?) insurance cost of parking a car in central London, plus the (high) general living costs of being in central London. But the £1.50 resident's discounted CC rate is just too much?

I would suggest using the public transport system that must be literally on your doorstep but a single tube journey would cost more than £1.50 CC rate so I'm stumped. It must be awful for you.

PuttingDownRoots · 11/07/2024 10:37

What about the other cities with ULEZ? Edinburgh has one now I believe

Coffeerum · 11/07/2024 10:38

hardly worth going to work !!

Correction, it’s hardly worth driving to work. Which is the whole point.

ichundich · 11/07/2024 10:40

I wouldn't drive into London as such but if you need to go to Heathrow or Gatwick it's unavoidable. Public transport not really an option in that case due to most flights being scheduled either stupidly early or stupidly late.

Allfur · 11/07/2024 10:40

Some trades are moving over to cargo bikes

I mean so you’re happy to pay for a holiday, the flights, airport parking etc but £8 on top is too much?

PuttingDownRoots · 11/07/2024 10:46

Just to point out here...
Its petrol cars older than 2005, and diesel cars older than 2015.

It is the generally the poorer sections of society, but its a very small group. The banger we bought for £450 is compliant for example!

Gatwick isn't in London and nor is Heathrow. Depends where you're travelling from but you wouldn't need to go into the congestion zone. Perhaps the ULEZ zone

Tell me you don't know where Heathrow and Gatwick are without telling me you don't know where Heathrow and Gatwick are...

The shills aren't really trying any more, are they?

NGL I am glad I live in a sleepy village in the shires, 3 miles from a little market town. Couldn't be arsed with this shit! LUDICROUS price!

You live in a tiny village in the arsehole of nowhere because you’re annoyed toll roads exist 😂

It's not £8 but £25 plus the toll. It purely penalises poorer people who've not had the money to upgrade their car. Also please don't assume my reasons for flying.

ichundich · 11/07/2024 10:57

What are you on about? Heathrow is within the ULEZ. To get to Gatwick you need to use the Dartford crossing.

Only if you start off on the other side of the river!

You sure as hell don’t know where Gatwick or Heathrow are if you think travelling to either incurs a congestion charge.

PuttingDownRoots · 11/07/2024 10:59

The airport complaint would make more sense for City Airport!

Do you actually know where these 2 airports are located? Confused

Yeah, my bad for living north of London 🙄.

Floopynetzerolady · 11/07/2024 11:00

“Penalising poor people” is such a weak argument. Sorry but it is

and toll roads have existed since 17th century. 🫣

😂 Not everyone lives in Essex mate!

You need to stop now, before you embarrass yourself any further!

Not sure what your point is and I'm certainly not your "mate".

Floopynetzerolady · 11/07/2024 11:06

You don't seem to have any arguments.

My argument is “BAME and poorer Londoners more likely to live in areas with toxic air” and children are actually dying from pollution in London like in Lewisham recently.

Anyway, HTH
