How long did it take?

this will be my third, I’m out from my 2nd ttc cycle and I’m worried it might not happen.

i track my cycle, use opk and temp. Any other tips?
my first took close to 9 months which I know is normal (partner and I were late 20s) second complete surprise (early 30s). Dh had ‘variable sperm parameters’

8 months with DC1 at 35
2 months DC2 at 38 - but used a DIY insemination method over a period of a week rather than the natural way as I thought it'd be easier (which it was).

Yabu. Why can't you ask in pregnancy or conception?

Beamur · 10/07/2024 12:11

34 - 4 months but miscarried
36 - over a year

IamOliveOil · 10/07/2024 12:15

Came off the pill in sept 2020 aged 35 ttc first time, pregnant in March 2022 resulted in miscarriage. Ttc since, became pregnant again in Feb 2024 now 23 weeks 🤞🏼 a friend of mine first ttc first time aged 38, had the coil out and 6 weeks later positive test. Everyone is different, good luck xx

How does one do DIY insemination?

Put sperm in an empty container, mix with pre-seed lubricant found on Amazon, insert using a Calpol style syringe (i just used a new Calpol syringe), lie on back, legs up and think of England for 30 minutes! Did every night 3 days before ovulation and then over the 3 days of ovulation to increase chances - so 6 days in total.

You can buy nice kits off Amazon to do the same job.

Nelbert19 · 10/07/2024 12:53

4 cycles for first at 33
20 cycles for number 2, eventually conceived when I was 36. I was waiting for my period to start so that I could start taking the hormonal treatment for IVF but I was pregnant instead!

all hormones, anatomy and sperm normal, tracked ovulation etc. She just took her time! 🤷🏻‍♀️

JustSaltPlease · 10/07/2024 12:57

38 first time via IUI

JustSaltPlease · 10/07/2024 12:58

@LindorDoubleChoc

unhelpful and pointless post

That’s interesting, I thought sperm had to be ‘prepared’ as it were. Did he just do his business in a cup?

Second baby conceived at 36 took 10 months.

JaninaDuszejko · 10/07/2024 13:14

My 3DC were all conceived the first month of trying. I was 36, 37 and 40. I am now 53 and have not gone through the menopause yet.

Edited to add: I did not track ovulation, we just had regular sex throughout my cycle. Less stress, costs nothing and more fun.

WobblyBoots · 10/07/2024 13:16

DC1 -35 - TTC 2 yrs
DC2 -38 -TTC 1yr
DC3 -40 - TTC four glasses of wine 😬

I did have a MC at 39 after 2-3 cycles of trying. Then decided not to go for a third.

I was 38, 4th try.

Started TTC age 36. It took almost a year and I conceived a month before turning 37. However, it turns out that I had an underactive thyroid, which was probably contributing to my difficulties.

Yes, I don't know how he got it into the small container but he just did do that, simple.

I then mixed with a teaspoon of pre-seed lubricant which is meant to assist with conception.

There are plenty of videos about it on YouTube.

Thanks for explaining I’d never heard of this before! Props to you, I’m really glad it worked out for you :)

I got pregnant at 35 and I wasn't trying and only did it twice that month and got pregnant with my twins

RobinEllacotStrike · 10/07/2024 13:30

I conceived very easily aged 39 & 42

good luck!

Borgonzola · 10/07/2024 13:31

I am 35 and conceived first go, not even properly trying yet, just under 3 weeks after my coil was removed.

CreativeCraig · 10/07/2024 13:31

My third, just shy of 36, we were careless one evening and 6 weeks later realised we were expecting.

ghostyslovesheets · 10/07/2024 13:32

Number 3 @ 38 - 3 months initially but M/C - then 2 months and further mc then 2 months an she arrived just after my 39th birthday

BenignIntervention · 10/07/2024 13:34

Took one cycle at 27, 3 cycles at 30, 2 cycles at 31…and one contraception failure at 36!

I don’t think fertility falls off a cliff after 35. Everyone is different, though. I don’t think I’d necessarily worry at your age and stage of trying,

SkeletonBatsflyatnight · 10/07/2024 13:34

Dc1, conceived at 36. First attempt.
Dc2, conceived at 40. 4-5 cycles, first cycle of tracking ovulation.

Maray1967 · 10/07/2024 13:41

Conceived DS2 at almost 40 after over 4 years of trying and 3 mcs.

Took 3 years to conceive DS1 at 32 - have one knackered tube after childhood appendicitis and poor ovarian reserve. Told I wouldn’t manage it without ivf - two attempts failed at 31/32 - my two DC were conceived naturally.
