Unlike Tony Blair, he comes from a working class background - his siblings would still call themselves working class.

As a very bright lawyer, he could have sought a path which made him rich quickly but instead chose human rights which isn’t an easy route to take and he’s defended ‘the little guy’ against corporations. He’s also anti-death penalty.

Ok, he’s a Sir, and I’ve heard people (perhaps not unreasonably) question why the leader of the Labour Party would have a title like that. But he earned it through work for the criminal justice system.

On the face of it, it seems as though he deserves a chance.

I would much rather have him as PM than a former Bullingdon club member who used to burn money in front of homeless people for the fun of it.

@EmmEmmanuelll

The problem with the reelection of Trump is that people seem to forget he is a sociathpath with an axe to grind and people to avenge.

There is also the fact that he has hinted at altering the law, so he stays in power, and his children take over from him.

Do I think he would. Yes! Oh, the people of the U.S. wouldn't allow it. How exactly would they stop it. He doesn't care. We have only to look at 06/01/2020 for that.

As for Biden. I like him. Do I think he should be running again? No! However, he is. Trump and Biden are the same age roughly. Neither of them should be running on age alone.

Trump can't open his mouth without lying. CNN checked him last night. He told 30 lies in his speech.

Biden has scores of advisors and a team behind him. They will do more than we know. I would rather Biden and his back team than Trump in any way, shape, or form.

For those of you who don't know, Biden speech can be problematic and always has been. He was born with a severe stutter that he has worked on all his life.

BTW, if you had seen the clip straight after Joe Biden called Zelenski, Putin, he corrected himself.

Yes, JB has slowed down. He is not as quick as he used to be or as nimble as he used to be. He gets his words muddled, etc.

He also has to have regular physical and cognitive tests. However, I would rather JB of him and Trump.

Trump running mate JD Vance is as bad, if not worse, than Trump.

What happens in the U.S. affects us all. Another 4 years of Trump terrifies me

Have a look for Jesse on YouTube, who has a YouTube called Ring of Fire. He is a solicitor and talks about politics in the U.S, if you want to get the viewpoint out there

I agree, it's horrifying! Absolutely awful. If anyone is wondering, I think Biden is a much better proposition than Trump, cognitive decline and all. Trump is not fit for political office of any kind. Previous staff of his administration recall having to dumb down important information for him, like they were telling a bed time story.

I think Trump's reaction to his near-assassination is actually a good reminder for us all that he is indeed a sociopath. Rather, than being brave, he simply doesn't register the near attempt on his life and tries to carry on his political message.

Sociopaths lack empathy, not only for others but also for themselves (I watched a diagnosed sociopath talk about this once and she said that she can't empathise with her future self either so she burns bridges and almost died in a car accident but it barely registered on her 'fear' scale.)

I think this is where it is so hard for the American people. They need to pick between one who is no longer in charge of his faculties, and one who , well , trump.

biden is declining fast , he can’t go another year never mind 5, and the American public need to chose between putting trump in or someone who can’t string a sentence together much of the time.

Zonder · 17/07/2024 07:32

You may be right about Biden @Roseyjane but at least they'd end up with a democratic government working behind the scenes.

BIossomtoes · 17/07/2024 07:58

The thought of either of them having the nuclear codes terrifies me.

I think NewOrleans had a mayoral election like this. They had a choice between a known Klansman and a corrupt politician. They went with the corrupt one.

I think the issue with Trump is that really you are looking at someone who isn’t bothered about violence. In fact it’s something he relishes; encourages or works on.

I fear for the States if he is elected. American politics has had frequent violence and assassinations. But I don’t think they have seen anything yet. Both Trump and his VP reckon the last election was stolen. Okay with violence if not directed at them. Scary.
