I love diversity! I hope Switzerland can become as diverse as the UK one day. 🥰🥰🥰

Actually I hope we can become like Sweden! Their diversity is the best. 🤩🤩🤩

I'm having a bit of a Labre sifre moment.

the higher you build your barricades
the taller I become.
the further you take my rights away
the faster I will run.

So, fuck you both Farage and Le Penn. Cos, something inside so strong. And your evil words cannot take this feeling away, however hard you try.

I'm in my 70s now, I never had to face the Nazis like the generation before me, but I recognise them when they come calling.

viva last france, and thank you uk.

Hear hear!

I apologise - I expressed myself really badly. What I am trying to say is that there were many more terrorist attacks in France before 2016, rather than after.

I completely agree that Samuel Paty’s murder was a major incident - and of course it was horrific and tragic.

Don't apologise to these islamaphobes!!!! They want to fracture our beautiful multicultural society! So what if there are terrorist attacks in France! You have different cultural foods and good football players. 🥰

I think far right is a term used by the media to anyone who goes against the liberal agenda.

I remember seeing BLM rioting in USA, many buildings burnt down and over 50 deaths in in the protest yet the BBC described the riots as "mostly peaceful"

I remember seeing the BLM riots in London where a police officer got punched in the face by a protestor and the BBC labeled it "passionate protest".

The list is endless.

This.

What does ‘this’ mean? @Freyaaaa’s post makes no sense and she hasn’t explained it.

I don’t know what the term ‘liberal agenda’ means and Freya hasn’t explained what she means by this.

I also don’t understand the point that Freya is trying to make by mentioning the BLM protests.

Is she saying that the media label people ‘far right’ if they don’t agree with BLM? Because that’s not true and just a lazy attempt to criticise the media.

It's everything the USA + UK is becoming... 🤣

It's odd that you remember more than 50 deaths in relation to the BLM protests, given that there were a maximum 19 (which includes protestors who were killed, and deaths that may not have been linked to the protests at all).

They were called "mostly peaceful" as they were not one protest but many separate protests across 50 states, involving between 15m and 25m people, and 93-97% (depending on what source you prefer) of the protests involved no violence or property damage.

There was massive property and more than 50 deaths.... I'm not going to argue with a fool. I'm just happy we don't have those riots here! Enjoy more peaceful protests from BLM and all the deaths they brings. 🥱

Literally 1-2 billion in insured damaged were claimed from the riots. 🥱

Yes, so I didn't quibble that part of your post. Just the factually inaccurate part about the deaths, and explaining why the protests were described as "mostly peaceful": i.e. because most of them were.

No they weren't.... 1-2 billion dollars in damages is not mostly peaceful. 🥱

If you're feeling sleepy, maybe have a rest and see if that helps rejuvenate your brain a bit.

There were thousands of protests across the US and, depending on the source, between 93-97% (being "most") of the protests passed with no violence and no property damage. Hence the protests were mostly peaceful but, obviously, some were far from.

Incidentally, even at those protests were there were violence, not all of it was by protestors; there were more than 100 instances of vehicles being driven into crowds of protestors (some by scared drivers but some deliberate attacks) and more than 100 instances of journalists being physically attacked by police officers.

You do understand that if the exit poll is correct it will be a hung parliament? No party has won.

Hedgeoffressian · 08/07/2024 03:54

Tony Blair is right. If successive governments don’t listen to the electorates concerns on immigration then we will end up with prejudices and more and more people will turn to populist parties in frustration. Labour only won the election because people turned their backs on the Tories and wanted to punish them. Immigration is one of the biggest issues that people are fed up with. France is a prime example of what can happen. Le Pen almost got in and there are riots and divisions. That’s why people voted for Brexit. They thought it would mean the Uk could finally control immigration. But it failed.

It simply isn’t sustainable for Europe to keep being flooded with migrants. They want to come to the Uk because we have the NHS. Word gets around that we have free health care and social housing - they tell their friends in their home countries and then they all want to come and live here.

Do people honestly think we should just let them all in? It’s no wonder the NHS and schools are so overwhelmed. We don’t have enough housing as it is. So should we just let anyone who wants to live here move here and just build and build until we have enough housing? We are a small country - an island. We need to put the people of the UK first and introduce a points based system.
The numbers are so high at the moment that they have admitted that they aren’t able to carry out proper checks on everyone that moves here.

A lot of people are worried about this but just get shouted down as being ‘far-right’ or ‘racist’ by those on the left who will go along with anything just so they can be seen to be virtuous. I actually think some are going along with it regardless of the impact so the Uk can attone for its colonialist past.

Amazing how people who think they are progressive and tolerant are just as hateful and intolerant as the people they hate

The “Intolerance of intolerance is intolerant in itself” argument holds no water. It essentially legitimises bigotry.

I for one am not going to apologise for hating racists and fascists. I think that should be the response of any decent person.

And on turns the wheel.

OneTC · 08/07/2024 06:07

France have played this game for generations

myotherdogisadonkey · 08/07/2024 06:19

@Anonym00se well said. We weren't occupied by fascists because many many brave men and women fought them and lost their lives .The French were invaded and occupied by fascists in case you forgot. My French pal who resides here has a mixed race child and was bloody terrified when it looked like the Far Right might win because she knows what happens to women and children of different races under the Far Right. She was scared for her relatives !She has heard it from elderly relatives who fought them.So yeah I hate fascists and will oppose them everytime they try and spread their hate . No pasaran!

myotherdogisadonkey · 08/07/2024 06:20

@Sakura7 same my friend !

decionsdecisions62 · 08/07/2024 06:27

@OvaHere We don't have far left. That would be Marxism/ communism. I can't think of any party that really aligns to that? Jeremy Corbyn is the nearest here. Not sure about France.

You could say during the war that both those 'parties' committed atrocities. Who do you think was worse Stalin or Hitler?

TwigletsAndRadishes · 08/07/2024 07:06

I am just curious why civil war seems to be the go to for some posters ? Why civil war and not a glut of satire or comedy ? Why not people finding common ground ? It seems a huge leap to jump straight to civil war ? Most people have plenty of other things to keep them busy don't they ?

How much do you know about the French?

We British like to grumble under our breath and turn to satire to express our dissatisfaction. The French prefer to riot, strike, set fire to stuff and start revolutions.

Whenwillitgetwarm · 08/07/2024 07:13

At the end of the day the French have experienced a far right government who work to betray them in favour of a hostile foreign power - The Vichy government. They have long memories. National Rally are very sympathetic to Putin.

The French will also have seen what Brexit did to our economy and are in no hurry to chop off their own legs like we did. Having Putin backed shouty people blame poor people whilst stripping the country bare. Hard nope.
