Voting labour for the first time. Anyone else?

Labour are far from perfect, but I like Keir Starmer and I think they are the best party to turn things around from the awful mess the incumbents have got us into.

He’s not glossy or witty or funny, but he seems decent - (he clearly has a wonderful wife and that only reflects well on him!)

Anyway, just curious - anyone else voting Labour for the first time? I’m 40 by the way and in the south east.

Any tom dick or Harry can already get one.

Under the tories.

Nope that is untrue.

theworldie · 04/07/2024 10:15

Me too too!

Id rather stick with the tories than let muppet Starmer and crazy Rayner do an even worse job of things.

Cant understand any woman voting for Labour. Terrifying.

I can’t understand anyone who is not terrified of the prospect of another Tory government. I really can’t.

Hummingbird75 · 04/07/2024 10:17

Nope that is untrue.

It's really not. Over 90% of applications are approved. Under the tories.

Mnetcurious · 04/07/2024 10:22

Yes I’ll be voting Labour for the first time (also in my 40s) as a tactical vote - the only way to potentially unseat the Tory in my constituency which until now has been ultra safe. They’re not perfect by any means but definitely not worse than the Conservatives- how quickly partygate, Liz Truss trashing the economy, all the lies, numerous scandals, dodgy PPE contracts etc etc etc have been forgotten.

Surely May was older?

Younger - Theresa May was 59 when she became PM - she lasted 3 years.

Agree. It's not just the thought of their fiscal policies grinding the country further into the ground, but also the mental impact of having them continue. Their brand of division politics has inflicted so much damage on this nation – never have we felt more disparate. I am very much looking forward to an era of politicians who want to unite the nation and its people and not just serve their own interests and line their own pockets.

Because they keep us safely in a dangerous world, and are willing to invest in defence. The bearded lefties will be dismantling that in no time.

Because the conservatives recognise women and girls

The conservatives are traditionally and notoriously pro business and good for the economy.

Conservatives can be trusted.

Labour is massive leap into the unknown, and it is what is not being said that is worrying people, and the prospect of a hard left government in less than 12 months time...

There's no way this Hummingbird is a real person. Clearly a parody/sockpuppet. Far too ridiculous to be serious.

Spouting the same nonsense on multiple threads and has been for weeks.

If she is real I’m embarrassed for her 🙈

No..so many reasons. Some being:
Tax
Women's rights
Schooling
Running of the NHS
A quick google will detail they have proven they cannot run a budget. Recent/current examples.

Was going to say exactly the same.

RosaRoja · 04/07/2024 10:29

@Hummingbird75 your posts are getting more and more desperate and offensive. “The bearded lefties”. Plus all the desperate, divisive scaremongering. You’ve done your shift online. Take a break.

pinksheetss · 04/07/2024 10:31

I genuinely have no clue who to vote for :(
Based in Scotland, would usually vote SNP but lost all faith in them.
Won't touch Tories with a barge poll, will never forgive them for how Covid was handled and the huge number of people who lost their lives on their own and family/friends unable to be with dying relatives. Genuinely want every Tory jobless tomorrow.

TerrysNeapolitan · 04/07/2024 10:32

No I won't I do not like labour but the last thing I would do it start throwing insults at you OP like I have seen on the Reform thread this morning. Everyone is an adult here (presumably) so let's all act like an adult. Everyone has a different view and that is politics, vote for who you think will represent you best OP, I would find information about the parties directly. If you think Labour represents you vote for them OP, we are free to make our own decisions and should be free to air them without a torrent of abuse. Have a good day.

maddiemookins16mum · 04/07/2024 10:34

No way. I’m voting Lib Dem.

RosaRoja · 04/07/2024 10:35

Clavinova on shift to drown us in links. This is going well for the Tories.

Well to tell the truth maybe!

I am surprised by the support on here for the conservatives too! It means people are waking up the Labour reality.

Angela Rayner will be PM this time next year, if Labour win. Mark my words

Gilbertwasawuss · 04/07/2024 10:37

Georgieporgypud · 04/07/2024 09:35

Those things are happening under the tories.

And Labour are going to take us over the line. That is plain to see

I think the Tories have been pretty awful and need a serious sorting out, but we can't deny that Labour is going to be an absolute free for all and they are going to wiggle through all the evasive loopholes they have created throughout the last several months.

Gilo2024 · 04/07/2024 10:38

As a female, no. I'll be voting Conservative.

Anyone remember the note Labour left on the desk about 'no money left' when Conservatives came in? It'll happen again if Labour get in

I actually think KS is too old for the job.

For a man of 61 he looks unfit and I have fears as to how he would cope with the sheer hard work of international travel and 24/7 responsibility.

All former PMs age twice as fast as anyone else.

I can see him being challenged by the left in the party before long- the likes of Angela R and Rachel R.

Too old at 61!!! You are taking the piss surely 😲😲😲

I’ll guess Sunak will be on a plane to the US with a one way ticket in August with his non-dom wife. And who is going to be leading the Tories in Autumn do you think? We’ll have to see who still has a seat!
