To ask for your woo tales?

I understand this isn't for everyone but I love a good woo story. Even if you've seen/experienced something but aren't 100% sure and are on the fence, I'd love to hear your stories.

I've had a few experiences myself, nothing majorly scary just in my old house I'd often hear loud clear footsteps when nobody could be there and often saw a shadow figure, sometimes right infront of me and other times in my peripheral so can understand why people think they've seen something but can't be sure. I also worked in a pub that had some poltergeist type activity and various figures had been seen by staff and customers. I'd love to hear yours!

I love threads like these but what I REALLY love is tales of strange creatures that have been seen in the UK countryside, anyone remember the poster who was driving in the countryside at 2am with her DH when they saw something weird cross their path? She said it looked like a Goatman, ok I get it's highly unlikely there is a mythical creature wandering around the Northamptonshire countryside but even so!

I adored that story, I talked about organising a trip out there for MNers! In reality it would just be me and no one volunteered to drive the getaway car!

I still like to think there's something out there...

For someone who missed the grandfather clock missing chains story... can the OP/anyone tell it? 🤓

Oh yes, I think everyone was a bit scared, I would love to do something like that even if I am terrified! My ILs live near the New Forest and they say very strange things happen there, lot's of witchcraft in the area apparently

EmeraldRoulette · 09/07/2024 00:06

@Wintersgirl ooh, what have they seen?

FredFredandFreddie · 09/07/2024 00:13

When my friend got married we stayed in a lovely little B&B with some friends in the other rooms. Until the night when the en-suite shower kept turning itself on and off and then a picture fell off the wall. We also thought our friend was moving around for most of the night in the next room, like really noisy clunking around turned out she hadn’t slept in there because she’s hooked up with her ex boyfriend staying on the floor below 🫣😳

the next day we read something in the bar about it being haunted and spent the second night shitting our pants

EmeraldRoulette · 09/07/2024 00:06

@Wintersgirl ooh, what have they seen?

I think it's to do with witchcraft in the area, strange lights coming from the woods in dead of night, someone found pigs hearts surrounded by candles as if it were a shrine, sheep and horses are maimed, that sort of thing, the place has got a creepy vibe I must admit

EmeraldRoulette · 09/07/2024 00:27

@Wintersgirl Oh that's horrendous human activity, rather than woo. Must be very unsettling to live near there 🙁

I don't live there but we get down when we can, my ILs have lived in the same house since 1975 and it backs on to the forest which can make your imagination run wild! The New Forest is stunning but there's something very strange about it. I meant to add there are supposedly big cats roaming the area which makes me nervous when I took their dogs for a walk the other week, I wouldn't fancy coming face to face with that, I've not seen one btw.

When I was a kid,I lived with my granddad
We had a picture of white horses running away from a forest fire
Cheap picture in a cheap white frame-nothing that would catch your eye-it wasn't by a famous artist or anything-but grandad always said it had been painted on the wrong side of the canvas
It lived on the wall just above the sofa (and had done for years-grandad refused to move it)
Every so often it would lift itself off the wall and drop to the floor with a crash
'Another death' my grandad would say as he'd pick it up and put it back-undamaged and the nail intact every single time
Within 20 or so minutes the phone would ring and someone would be telling grandad that such-and-such had died
Human or animal-it happened every single time-i remember it happening (just missing my head) and within a minute, the phone rang and my mother was telling him our pet dog had been put to sleep
It was 'normal' and we just lived with it!

Try the Search function at the top of the page, it should come up.

I saw a friend of mine one evening and I had the strongest sense that she was pregnant, so I asked her. She said no and she had just finished a period. She called me a month later to ask me how I'd known about her expecting. It had never happened before and hasn't ever happened again, but it was such a strong feeling of certainty.

I remember when everyone was obsessed with the Savernake forest story, now it seems to have been replaced by the grandfather clock one lol

My mum was very poorly in hospital, one night I visited her and she told me she'd seen my dad, who'd died some years previous, standing in the hospital corridor. She died three days later.

Wow @Elphame that's a good one! Thank you for sharing. I have a feeling those chains are going to turn up one day...

For people talking about whether the end is the end - I really recommend the Coming Home YouTube channel on NDEs, and better still, a fascinating book called After by Dr Bruce Greyson on the same topic. Not sure what to conclude but it is completely fascinating stuff.

SandandSky · 10/07/2024 01:23

I have a job where I often have to drive home late at night (anything between about 11pm-1am) and my drive is down little country lanes which I’ve always found quite spooky late at night. The place we live is quite famous for being a big witch gathering historically.

One day I was driving home at about midnight when suddenly from the hedgerow a man in black stepped out into the road but he was wearing what looked like a mask with no features on it, just big, dark eye holes. Quite shiny/plastic looking. It sounds silly but a bit like the ghost thing from Mario 😂He stood in the road for a second and then sort of played chicken with my car? Ran right at me and then avoided the car/made me swerve. But when I looked behind me he was fucking gone!!! He could have well jumped back in the bushes etc by the road but I honestly shit myself every time I drive that bit of road now.

Tellmeyourwoostories · 10/07/2024 05:02

@SandandSky omg that's terrifying. It could have been someone playing a prank but realistically if it were a real human they'd have trouble walking out of a hedgerow at ease and normally someone wouldn't play chicken alone, you'd see them with mates mucking about and laughing I guess? Then it depends on how long it would take for him to run back into the hedgerow when you looked back, which surely you'd have seen him running/climbing back in to it again with some difficulty. How eerie!

My DH grandparents lived in a nursing home and passed within a few weeks of each other. We went to clear out their rooms the day after his grandfather’s funeral. He was hospitalized for 5 days before he passed. There were two calendars in the unit - one in the kitchen and one in the bedroom. Both completely blank except he’d circled the day of his funeral and written “this is the day”.

Tellmeyourwoostories · 10/07/2024 05:38

@ifyouinsistthen Oh wow that gave me a shiver Shock

Ifyouinsistthen · 10/07/2024 05:46

@Tellmeyourwoostories - right? it was so strange. He’d underlined “the” and put the whole sentence in quotations. No idea what to make of it. Sometimes I think he knew that was the day he’d be reunited with his wife. The home confirmed there was nothing significant planned for that date.

Tellmeyourwoostories · 10/07/2024 06:12

@ifyouinsistthen I sure hope he's reunited with her, I bet that shook your DH up. What a story!
