To think there's going to be a Civil War in America

I mean, they're fucked aren't they

Now that Trump isn't getting prosecuted after today for the January 6th atrocities

And Biden 🤦‍♀️ - they might replace him

It's so awful - so terribly polarised

I think it's a real possibility

I am not sure sometimes, but Biden’s lies are much more clear cut and intentional. It’s mind blowing how much he lies.

We might as well just end this conversation, neither of us are for turning. Have a good day

I was genuinely asking, didn’t want to assume anything as I am not American and you appear to think no one can comment on a British forum about anything American, like a thread on Trump unless they are an American voter!

Thanks for the clarification.

You said a lie is a lie and must not be ignored, then don’t want to even consider it when it’s Biden doing the lying.

I was not trying to “turn” you and assumed you aren’t a US voter anyway. Why discuss it at all if you don’t like to know more, though?

I have relatives there, nice part of the states, beautiful home, beautiful area, quite Conservative and upper middle class. They just bought some guns 🙈and my sister in law is home schooling her children, and believe me when I tell you that she was the last person I thought would do that! And yes, she said this is the closest to civil war coming. The tension is high. Not sure about all of the states, but there is something off going on there.

The trouble is though feelings of something being ‘off’ is just stoking the fire, what good is going to come out of arming yourself. I am British though so the idea of buying a gun to protect my family is alien to me and completely ridiculous.

He won't keep the two term limit once he's in.

The 2 term limit is the 22nd amendment to the Constitution. The only legal way for Trump to have a 3rd term is to repeal it with another amendment. Getting 35 states to sign on may take a while, particularly if the country goes to hell in the meantime.

Whether he would willing vacate the WH is a different question

Livelovebehappy · 02/07/2024 10:12

It’s all down to the democrats voting in someone to lead their party who is absolutely incompetent. And obviously has now made sure this is a one horse race. Up against someone else, who could at least string a sentence together that makes sense, and the competition could be on a level playing field. I feel sorry for Biden. He is not well clearly, and was so obviously drugged up to the eyeballs to get him through the debate. It’s unforgivable that people behind the scenes are clearly using him like a puppet to get their manifesto across.

Eh?

why would it be hilarious that I’m not American on a British forum?

the ill-hearted? Loved by all?

are you ok?

HectorPlasm · 02/07/2024 10:15

Atrocities? Really? Mass rape and massacre are atrocities - running into a building is not

Abhannmor · 02/07/2024 10:18

Don't know if it is quite that bad. Two friends over there are planning to move out this year though. One trying for an Irish passport under the grandparents rule. The other has no such option. Its either Canada or moving to a blue state in the North East. Both professional women heading towards retirement. Problem is not everyone has the means to escape the more blatantly racist and misogynistic States.
On the upside Trump might not have the Senate or House on his side.

Everything he said is horseshit! I barely hear him tell the truth.

If one person is in charge for 4 years, in an enormous country where there are many different layers to a functioning government….

How can he say, with any conviction, that when he was in office everything ever was The Best Ever, he fixed XYZ etc. He was the best President ever for veterans, black people etc.

And then go on to say a mere 12 months later the next guy made everything The Worst Ever.

Just using logic - it’s pure shite.

ElecticBetty · 02/07/2024 10:41

Talking of cognitive decline in American presidents -

this is a great podcast talking about clear signs of dementia in Trump.

AgentJohnson · 02/07/2024 10:46

OFFS! Of course there won’t be. He talks a lot and is enabled even more but there are enough checks and balances to keep his crazy to a minimum.

I know he believes what he says but that doesn’t mean you have to.

That’s hyperbolic, of course. Or an opinion. It’s something every politician does.

Is it the same as Joe Biden saying he taught at Penn for four years when he never once taught a class?

Or that his son died in Afghanistan? Or that his son was elected Senator? (That’s probably not a lie, so much as dementia.)

Although your thinking is clearly skewed anyway and you see what you want to see, so there ya go.
Brainwashed.

So are you saying that Trump is misquoted and that he doesn’t lie blatantly?
I know you said clips are shown out of context however, a lie is a lie is a lie and that can not be ignored.

That is not at all peculiar to Trump as far as presidents or presidential candidates go. Including recent ones.

A good general principle is that if you are going to hold a political figure to a certain standard, you should be doing the same for the guys on your side.

The British media is very poor at being realistic about what the Trump administration did in comparison to others. In fact, overall it was a sort of moderately successful presidency. He managed to improve the economy at the time and unemployment. He, surprisingly perhaps, managed to tone down some international issues, and had some fairly good insights from time to time - like telling Germany they were too dependent on Russian oil. He reflected the view of a lot of Americans that they should not be bankrolling or supplying most of the muscle for NATO, and that they should stay out of conflicts without an American interest in the outcome. He walked back from the some of the crazy gender shit ,and talked about protecting American industry and controlling immigration - all concerns of the working class that Democrats ignored for years. He tended to back states'rights which many Americans prefer.

People on here think Obama was some kind of perfect president - he was involved in a ton of wars, and was a huge disappointment to many in terms of breaking up union action, among other things.

People need to stop putting him and others on a pedestal and similarly looking at a distorted or partial version of Trumps presidency.

Youneverevencallmebymyname · 02/07/2024 11:00

I saw this at the time it happened and not in the NYPost. The reason the link in this article won’t come up to show the video is that not long after, Twitter suspended their account for reporting about Hunter’s laptop. They claimed it was Russian disinformation. Proven to be true.

It’s also been proven that Twitter under Dorsey was censoring things that could impact the election on behalf of the DNC.

I find this more damaging than Trump using obviously hyperbolic language.

He won't keep the two term limit once he's in.

Fair play, the 2 term limit was only introduced because the Republicans were so pissed at FDR's winning 4 times in a row.
