Conservative as Jane rightly pointed to the threat Starmer poses, plus I’m a retired boomer. My username reveals I’m pissing into the wind though.

Ah yes the wealthy "I'm alright Jack so sod the rest" boomer brigade who want to protect their money at the expense of everyone else.

EnglishBluebell · 30/06/2024 21:56

I can’t believe how many people are voting Tory! Have you been living under a rock?! The NHS is on its knees because of the greedy "protect the wealthy at the expense of the poor" Tories. People have quite literally DIED because of the Tories.

You should all be ashamed of yourselves

Houseplanter · 30/06/2024 22:00

And I can't believe how many naive fools there are thinking Labour will make it better.

DuesToTheDirt · 30/06/2024 22:02

Farting · 30/06/2024 21:44

It’s quite clear, Tories have done nothing about it, Labour have no intention of doing anything about it.

🤷‍♂️

Well this is true. Though I think that under Labour (and SNP/Lib Dem/Green) the pushback that has been succeeding recently may reverse.

ComeAlongPeggy · 30/06/2024 22:02

@EnglishBluebell people can vote for whoever they want. I’m voting Tory and don’t feel ashamed. I’m sad that there isn’t a party or leader who I can feel really hopeful about but Sunak feels a safer option than Starmer.

EnglishBluebell · 30/06/2024 22:04

Toasticles · 30/06/2024 11:34

Labour.

I work in a role with SEN youngsters. We now have a 3 year waiting list for autism assessment locally. My friend's dad spent 3 days on a corridor in A and E. My son's mental health was destroyed by the Gove curriculum expectations on him, and he's not alone - school "refusal" has skyrocketed. Academy chains with heads paid 100s of K salaries, and "zero tolerance" policies that don't consider disabilities and discriminate horribly against young people. Millions frittered away by Tories on ridiculous hobbying like Free Schools, Rwanda, PPE. The fucking disaster of Brexit. The scalping of local authority funding; in my job I had 10 years of salary freeze and then 1-2 percent offers. In real terms my pay has plummeted.

I am worried about women's rights, but I am hopeful that either the issues will become clear from looking at Germany etc. and I do think that pennies have dropped that some safeguarding in hospitals, schools, rape centres etc is necessary.

No, I’m not a wealthy, I’m alright Jack boomer. I’m wary of a politician who wants to raise money and has promised not to go for working families. As I’m retired, I’m not working and though he has vowed to honour triple lock, I wonder if I’m in Starmer’s target. Savvy?
Try not to age bash. It doesn’t become you.

I have the right to vote Conservative if I wish. Stop blaming people who don’t share your political views. It’s a free country in case you don’t know.

HairyChin · 30/06/2024 22:09

cardibach · 30/06/2024 20:47

Nope. Life was much better under the last Labour government. Anyone thinking Tories aren’t worse has selective memory. Parties. Proroguing Parliament illegally. Lying. Tractor porn. Liz Truss. And on and on.

Is that you Angela? 🤣

ComeAlongPeggy · 30/06/2024 22:09

And @EnglishBluebell I really, really object to the “everyone is equal and all views are valid…. Unless you don’t agree with me in which case you’re loathsome” sentiment.

Sallyingon · 30/06/2024 22:11

Labour. I want people to be ahead of profits. I think capitalism has gone too far.

SalviaDivinorum · 30/06/2024 22:14

None of the main parties which leaves me with an Independent with a single item manifesto to renationalise the water companies or the Monster Raving Loony Party

None of them represent me, and none of them deserve my vote - except maybe the Loonies. I could certainly get behind mandatory brunch breaks.

I cannot believe British politicians have sunk so low. We'd be better picking a parliament from a random selection of people registered to vote.

pilates · 30/06/2024 22:15

Unsure, but it is annoying when people say I can’t believe you’re voting for ^^

HangryBeaver · 30/06/2024 22:16

HairyChin · 30/06/2024 22:09

Obviously, like for any government, wider world events play a significant role in how well the country does under their tenure.

It might not be entirely the Tories fault but I don't think anyone could argue, with any credibility, that life for most people in the UK has been better under the Tories (Cameron through to Sunak) than it was under Blair and Brown.

3DayStockpiler · 30/06/2024 22:17

Not labour. I don't trust them on women's rights.

However bad the English NHS is, the Welsh NHS which has been under Labour control for 20+ years is far far worse.

Labour cannot be trusted with the NHS. It was Blair who set the ball rolling towards the mess we are now in by bringing in the disastrous partnerships with private companies.

EverythingYouDoIsaBalloon · 30/06/2024 19:28

You really think Reform will keep their promises?

Two things here,

firstly the others have no intention of doing anything about it

and

yes, actually I do think they will.

DarlingCoffee · 30/06/2024 22:22

I am struggling on where to put my vote. I can not vote for a party that do not hold women’s rights within their agenda so this leaves me with the Conservatives and Reform. I am wondering if I will even vote now.

QueenOfHiraeth · 30/06/2024 22:24

I have no idea.
Conservative is really the best candidate, new to this constituency but more experienced, been in the area a lot and pitching in at local events since he was chosen but he is a Tory!
Labour seems like a nice guy, local resident but his campaigning is just "Don't vote Tory", and he's not been seen about the area plus I'm concerned about the bigger issues like women's rights and rising costs.
Lib-Dem - no leaflet, no social media presence so not worth my time
Reform - not a particularly likeable individual
Independent - No, just no! Local snob

Who to vote for? God knows!

IGuessIllbetheFirst · 30/06/2024 22:28

@EnglishBluebell We live in a democracy thankfully and everyone is entitled to their own opinion and make their own choice on how to vote. You may not agree with their opinion, but if you can’t accept that people have different opinions to you without trying to shame them, it is you who has a problem.

I agree with @ComeAlongPeggy, I’m fed up of this puritantical way of seeing the world.

Hungrycaterpillarsmummy · 29/06/2024 21:03

I'm voting conservative. The only party who knows what a woman is.
Also, they have triple locked pensions. Labour want to put a tax on pensions. So no. Tories for me!

Sure, they know what a woman is, but can you help me understand what the fuck they have done/will do for women?

TheNoonBell · 30/06/2024 09:50

Reform

  1. Reduce immigration
  2. Defund the BBC
  3. End the green nonsense
  4. Depoliticise the QANGOS & civil service
  5. Public inquiry into excess deaths & vaccine harms
  6. They know what a woman is
