To think about botox

How common is botox and how haggard does it make you look when your older?
I've been thinking of getting a bit as I have a deep line on my forehead but partner said i will regret it when I'm older. I am 32 just now. I would obviously only be getting a few top ups a year. I know people can look terrible after but they are the people who get loads but does a few top ups a year really make you look that bad when your older ? I would maybe get some around my eyes too to hide the wrinkles lol

I’ve been having it since 30 a few times a year. I don’t think it’s a big deal and I look better

I find forehead Botox does make my eyes more hooded and smaller so also interested in maybe looking at getting it for lifting my eyes.

I do hate the very smooth ‘alien’ look though and that was why I stopped getting it and only get my crows feet done now.

I go a couple of times a year and it’s £79 because it’s just one area, so quite affordable.

People are definitely overdoing it, I can spot a lot of Botox a mile off and don’t necessary think it always looks better.

Try it but don’t get carried away would be my advice.

I have hooded eyes and this was a big worry for me. However, my researched showed it was about placement and needle depth which caused things to drop / become heavier.
I have minimal in my forehead and 11s, this is then increased at my review. I have it under my brow line too and this makes a big difference.

Botox rules 😁

I don't give a single shit what anyone thinks, I'm not embarrassed to get it, I look way better, and I'm happy with my choice.

Yes, this is why we are posting on a discussion forum
But it seems that if one has a different opinion to the prevailing one here, god preserve you. Even if more than one person shares this 'wrong opinion', the pack will pick one one and shower them with sarcasm and malice.

It wasn’t a different opinion it was ridiculously arrogant and condescending, and you know it

I’m 42 and have been having Botox since 30. I think it’s brilliant. Started by just having my “11” done (I frown a lot) and now have forehead and round my eyes. Don’t have enough to completely immobilise.

When I started, I found that I had fewer headaches (I think because it physically prevented me from frowning).

Yes, same, much fewer headaches! A nice little side effect.

OptimismvsRealism · 28/06/2024 19:22

Had it regularly since I turned 32 or so. It's like magic.

Owl55 · 28/06/2024 19:24

Look at Cliff Richard , he used Botox for years , now he’s stopped his face has caved in!

Or he would have aged to the same degree otherwise 🤷🏻‍♀️ just more gradually

PeachyKeane · 28/06/2024 22:21

Ffs he's 83! Everyone's face is looking worse for wear by 83 😅

Why so mean? Why was OP trying to be clever?

I was responding to dunkdemunder's comment, not OP
That's how misunderstandings escalate - someone reads content incorrectly. Or doesn't read the thread, and there you are. Accused of something you have not done

So your opinions are relevant?
Those you dont like or go against your bucolic ethos are rude/wrong?

CharlotteRumpling · 29/06/2024 07:07

Not RTFT but consider Tret before you Botox. It's worked miracles for me and I am nearly 20 years older than you. No wrinkles.

Summerhillsquare · 27/06/2024 07:09

I haven't stopped yet but I can't see how it makes things worse down the line? That doesn't make sense.

I think that by ‘freezing ‘ the muscle it becomes slack over time as it is unused - as with any unused muscle, so it can look far worse each time the Botox needs replacing. Facial yoga and massage may help!

ichbrauchenichts99 · 29/06/2024 07:11

No, I wouldn't consider it.
No matter what any of those performing the treatment say, it doesn't look natural.
If you really have to get it done then do your research and pay for the very best you can afford.

rubyroola · 29/06/2024 07:14

I love it! Best thing I’ve done for my looks. All the women I know that have had it I would never have guessed until I got it myself. It is fillers that look obvious.

Bluemincat · 29/06/2024 07:20

I do think that people don't think enough about the long term risks.

I've had it in my jaw muscles as I clench my teeth at night. It worked really well but after doing this for 2 years the muscles have atrophied. Which for me is a good thing as it means I can't clench as much but I'm not sure I would want other muscles in my face doing the same if I had it elsewhere.

I've also read that because you're not using all of your facial muscles it affects blood flow to the area you have it in, which obviously affects skin quality in the long term.

So while I've used it for a medical reason I don't think I would risk using it just for wrinkles as it could really change your face shape and skin quality in the long term.

I didn’t give one, it was your opinion that was given in a condescending way. What you’re saying is fine, but it’s how you said it. Also your phrasing of bucolic ethos makes no sense in your sentence, you’re just making yourself look stupid. If you don’t know what a word means best not use it ❤

The fact that you don't understand what I was saying and intimating in that phrase says it all

This is a conversation about Botox, I think it’s getting a bit OTT in general do you not think?

Shall we agree to disagree and enjoy our Saturday?!

Yes! And I had to Google what bucolic ethos meant 😂😂😂😂

Maddy70 · 29/06/2024 10:27

I have it. It makes me look "fresher" and help my hooded eyelid. You need to maintain it though. Every 3 months so it can be expensive

I've been having it on and off for 5 years I love it. Makes you look so fresh faced. My mum start it a couple of years ago and she looks amazing for 62.

MartyFunkhouser · 29/06/2024 11:17

I had Botox in May, the last time I’d had it was the July before. Around 10 months is as often as I need to go.

I have it in my glabella lines and crow’s feet. I used to have my forehead done, but I have no lines to do (I used to have quite noticeable forehead lines but they seem to have given up after being botoxed).

I really love it. It doesn’t look weird and lots of my friends now go to the woman I see, so it must be good!
