To find this disgusting?

There’s still a week before bin collection and this is the state of my neighbours.

This isn’t a one off. It’s constantly like this. Both normal and recycling. Sick of living near tramps that don’t care.

To find this disgusting?

Recycle more so less goes in the landfill bin

They said in their OP that it’s the same with the recycling bins as well.

ChrisPPancake · 26/06/2024 18:12

@whereisshadow have you spoken to them about it ? Or posted in the local Facebook group to properly name and shame?!

Blushingm · 26/06/2024 18:13

VolvoFan · 26/06/2024 17:26

In all fairness, it would be nice if they did weekly collections instead of fortnightly, especially in warmer weather, otherwise the bins get maggots and smell bad.

Ours are 3 weekly collection with a max of 3 bag bags abs no wheelie bins......it's a nightmare!

Bring less into the house that will ultimately go out as waste. Compact the waste you do have. Unless they are a family of ten then what are they filling it with?

Why the assumption that they’re ‘bringing too much into the house’ you have no idea of their family size or what the waste actually is?

OP could ask/suggest that they don’t overfill the bin and keep extra bags inside till collection day so not to attract rats etc but there seems to be a level of snobbery that they are “tramps” and “generate too much waste”.

Waffle78 · 26/06/2024 18:14

My recycling bin went missing 9 weeks ago still no replacement. Luckily our bins are collected weekly or our grey bin would be like this. I don't drive tip not on a bus route half hour walk from our house. I've always recycled as much as possible. So hate putting recycling in general waste.

MotherFeministWoman · 26/06/2024 18:15

Well, they are clearly not going to change so you either do something about it yourself or you ignore it.

Read my post. I said unless they are a family of ten (meaning a very large family). We don't even half fill ours.

Owl55 · 26/06/2024 18:17

Maybe if you have space to spare in your bin you could suggest they top your bin up?

TheCrenchinglyMcQuaffenBrothers · 26/06/2024 18:19

How many people live in the house?

Crumpleton · 26/06/2024 18:19

whereisshadow · 26/06/2024 17:50

No my complaint is their bin is already overflowing with a week to go. It’s hot and it stinks. They allow the rubbish to just blow out into the street and onto other peoples property.

In my area you'd be having to put up with that until the householder sorted it all out.
A sniff of the wrong rubbish in the wrong bin and it wouldn't be collected.

Rightly so though, its not difficult/hard to recycle in this day and age, especially when most things are now doorstep collected.

LunaandLily · 26/06/2024 18:20

Our LA won’t take bins that aren’t fully closed! So you’re forced to take stuff to tip if you’re going to overflow. This has only happened a couple times when moving house, and would definitely be annoyed if my neighbours left their bins like that frequently. It just isn’t a good look is it? Rats etc

NonPlayerCharacter · 26/06/2024 18:20

My first thought was "what are they supposed to do?" and then I realised the answer was "cut down on their waste or get a second bin" so I see your point.

You could contact the council if it's causing a nuisance.

ForestForever · 26/06/2024 18:20

Absolute filthy savages! I’m with you OP sick of inconsiderate and selfish people!!!

The very least they could do is wave their magic wand and make it disappear. Sarcasm side, echo PP’s what would you have them do with it when councils refuse to collect it more than fortnightly? (at least around here).

Neighbours are a family of six with an adult child often there too and theirs is like that after two weeks, not one, including when the youngest were babies. They have the same bins as everyone else.

Blouson · 26/06/2024 18:20

Is that a bumper golden wonder box? They could at least have squashed it, feckless idiots.

Dobest · 26/06/2024 18:20

Notimeforaname · 26/06/2024 17:23

You'll have to move away from all people so.

The dustmen don't go there.

Owl55 · 26/06/2024 18:17

Not something I would risk with neighbours who don't bother sorting rubbish from recycling.

So talk to them?

(Nicely)

Ask them to compact their rubbish down to stop it blowing away. Don't mention the smell, all rubbish smells, that's not on them.

Needmorelego · 26/06/2024 18:26

@Singersong I actually agree with the OP - it is disgusting.
However....as I said - what does she expect them to do.
I live in flats so my bins are communal.
They are constantly overflowing. Wrong items in the wrong bins etc. Lots of large objects being dumped/fly tipped.
But I have -
Talked to the council.
Talked to the representatives of both the Labour and the Green parties when they knocked on my door.
Talked to neighbours.
Put up signs.
Complained loudly towards to sky.
Kicked rubbish out the way while muttering "ffs".
Dramatically moved recycling into the recycling bin rather than regular bin hoping the person who put it there will see.
Shouted "Oi that's a recycling bin and only for the residents of the flats" to random people who put their dog crap in there.
Maybe the OPs neighbours have requested bigger or more bins but haven't received any. Maybe they do religiously sort everything into the correct recycling bin - but they still have a lot.
Until then ....what ARE they meant to do?

Sorenips11 · 26/06/2024 18:26

Do you live on my street op? 😁 my neighbour has a bin with no lid. She stuffs it full of recycling, the council won't take it because no lid. The seagulls/wind drag the top layer of rubbish everywhere. Rinse and repeat every fortnight.

Other neighbours don't have a bin at all. They pile black bags outside their house that are ripped apart by wildlife. Shitty nappies and sanitary towels all over the street for all of us to enjoy 🤢

BotterMon · 26/06/2024 18:28

They obviously can't be arsed to break down cardboard and recycle properly so I'm with you OP. Why don't they just buy a bigger bin or pay for two?

happyhemsby · 26/06/2024 18:29

Tbf my bin looks like that, with a household of 7 and 5 pets it's to be expected when they only get emptied fortnightly. And I have the biggest bin they do 🤷🏻‍♀️

needsomewarmsunshine · 26/06/2024 18:30

With you OP, other people rubbish is a pita, some of the responses on here are laughable. Some people are either skanky or wanting to pile.
I bet most wouldn't be happy about rubbish blowing around their street or garden.
