To find this disgusting?

There’s still a week before bin collection and this is the state of my neighbours.

This isn’t a one off. It’s constantly like this. Both normal and recycling. Sick of living near tramps that don’t care.

To find this disgusting?

it looks like they're not compacting anything or even trying to do anything to help the situation.

i would think reporting them to Environmental Health would be your best option.

Christ.

coldcallerbaiter · 26/06/2024 17:43

You are not meant to let the lid hang up….

I put any remainder in a bin bag for next time, I leave it in the garage but at a push it could be temporarily stored in the other alternate bin.

Simbaonedaythiswillallbeyours · 26/06/2024 17:43

My neighbours are exactly like this. Family of four (so no excuses for overflowing bins, every other family copes). They are the only ones on the street that leave their bins on the pavement. They mix up non-recyclables and recycling so sometimes neither get emptied for a month.

They are pig ignorant in general. The council have visited them so they cannot claim they don't know. They just don't give a shit.

K0OLA1D · 26/06/2024 17:43

We sometimes don't have enough room in our bin. So on occasion the lid is open on bin day. Next time I'll just chuck it over the back fence in case a neighbour gets offended

BrightYellowStar · 26/06/2024 17:44

You need to lodge official complaints with:

  1. the local council
  2. the police
  3. environmental health
  4. fire brigade
  5. anyone else you can think of

...and don't forget to cancel the cheque!

In all fairness, it would be nice if they did weekly collections instead of fortnightly, especially in warmer weather, otherwise the bins get maggots and smell bad.

Surely only if you've got rotting meat in there.

sweetpickle2 · 26/06/2024 17:23

That pic is hilarious!

I wouldn't know how overflowing my neighbour's bins are because I don't spend all day nosing in their garden or taking incredibly zoomed in pics to try and shame them on the internet.

Nosing in their garden? It’s out on the front of the house. The rubbish has littered the street numerous times, with it going onto my property. They don’t care. If it’s like that with 6 more days to go then ..

I just want to live on a clean street. Which it used to be until they moved in.

There are a few households in my road that put their bins out like this too. They are larger families though, so create a lot more waste.

They should get a larger bin then

So then it’s not the same situation is it? So I’m unsure why you’re comparing.

OP posts:
S0livagant · 26/06/2024 17:47

Are they a family of ten or something? What are they buying to create so much waste?

whereisshadow · 26/06/2024 17:50

PartyPrepProblemo · 26/06/2024 17:24

Is your complaint simply that your neighbours put their rubbish in the their rubbish bins?

No my complaint is their bin is already overflowing with a week to go. It’s hot and it stinks. They allow the rubbish to just blow out into the street and onto other peoples property.

OP posts:
greencartbluecart · 26/06/2024 17:51

If your rubbish doesn't fit you should

Firstly try and make it fit

If it's occasionally, hold on to the rubbish until next time, otherwise get a bigger bin

You should not be expecting your neighbours to clear up rubbish that falls out - that is so antisocial and I find it hard to believe so many people would admit they would be happy to chance that

I mean you might as well throw it in your neighbours garden because that's where it ends up when the wind blows or a fox or car goes on the rampage

Needmorelego · 26/06/2024 17:51

@whereisshadow so what's your solution?
If the bin isn't big enough..... it's not big enough.

PixieLaLar · 26/06/2024 17:52

So what do you suggest they do?

greencartbluecart · 26/06/2024 17:52

So get a bigger one

That is in the larger bin.

Autumn1990 · 26/06/2024 17:56

for £12 per collection you can get a commercial bin. You can choose if it’s emptied monthly, fortnightly or weekly
we have one in addition to the council bin

HideTheCroissants · 26/06/2024 17:57

TBH I kind of agree with OP.

Generating so much rubbish that it fills a bin to overflowing after one week (assuming fortnightly collections) is unnecessary.

My general waste bin is due for collection early next week (fortnightly collection) and it currently has one small pedal bin liner in it. It will be about a quarter to a third full come collection day. In the winter months I only put it out once a month.

My recycling bin is usually pretty close to full fir it’s fortnightly collection though.

IF I had extra waste I certainly wouldn’t put it in an already full bin to overflow down the street (around here they won’t take a bin that isn’t closed either).

CollyBobble · 26/06/2024 17:58

How do you know it isn't someone else that's added to their bin?

S0livagant · 26/06/2024 18:00

PixieLaLar · 26/06/2024 17:52

So what do you suggest they do?

Bring less into the house that will ultimately go out as waste. Compact the waste you do have. Unless they are a family of ten then what are they filling it with?

CharlieUniformNovemberTangoYankee · 26/06/2024 18:02

I don't know why you're getting so much stick here, your neighbours are being very inconsiderate. And as for 'what are they supposed to do with their rubbish?' how about - off the top of my head- get a bigger bin, take it to the tip, ask a neighbour if there's room in their bin, don't put recyclables in the general waste? What they should NOT be doing is shoving stuff into an already overflowing bin, letting it spill into the street for others to pick up.

GKD · 26/06/2024 18:05

Clearly they don’t have enough space, can you offer them space in your bin?

Singersong · 26/06/2024 18:08

Are people seriously saying they'd be happy with that?

It will stink (and worse in the heat).
It will blow all down the road and I doubt they'll pick it up.
It looks a mess.
It will attract vermin.

OP I would be furious. If their wheelie bins are insufficient (looks like a lot of laziness involved with nothing being recycled or compacted) then they need to take it to the tip. That bin wouldn't even be collected in my area with the lid like that.
