GJ better qualified to do it
JB so you thought he was good at reading?

CustardySergeant · 27/06/2024 20:52

Can you remember roughly when that was please? Also, who was the 'he' being referred to?

Time-stamped to relevant part: s

Oh that's really kind, nauticant. Thanks very much.

nauticant · 27/06/2024 21:36

It was very easy to do. On the desktop version of youtube, if you look at the full text below a youtube video there's often a Show transcript button, you press that and you get a box containing the full transcript to the right of the video. You can then do a CTRL+F search with the text you're looking for and all being well you're taken to the relevant part of the transcript that if you click on causes the video to jump to the relevant part.

Nauticant you're a star - I'm on Roku streaming so didn't know that was a thing!

nauticant · 27/06/2024 21:47

That's why I posted the instructions for others. I don't use it often but when I do it's super-handy.

Very useful indeed. Thanks again.

I feel like a right numpty, because everyone else on this thread has probably undrrstood this from the beginning

I only learned this recently, and in fact it had been driven from my mind by all the other ShockShockShock stuff coming out.

This "computer assumed reliable unless proved otherwise" issue is desperately important, and rapidly becoming even more so as AI is inflicted on us (see DWP's new powers and plans, which is a whole other disaster in the making right now).

So cheers to @prh47bridge for reminding us all.

nauticant · 27/06/2024 21:56

Final word on things transcript-y, I'd normally look here for authoritative ones but today's wasn't yet available:

I've gone back and read the comments on the last two days of the hearing on Nick Wallis's blog (there weren’t any for today yet). There are quite a few from IT/software professionals - an interesting read, and for the most part the view is that Horizon was indeed disastrously bad. The view of GJ is generally not tending towards the favourable, to put it mildly.

I also spent a bit of time watching some of the original testimony from SPMs, right at the start of the inquiry. It was truly shocking and hit home very hard indeed. Actually it made me quite emotional. Hearing the constant refrain of 'I didn’t think of it at the time', 'it didn’t occur to me', 'no idea', 'I was relying on what I was told by POL' must be nigh on unbearable for Seema Misra (in particular), Jo Hamilton and all the others to sit and listen to. It honestly beggars belief.

Here is Nick Wallis blog of day 3 of Gareth Jenkins

He also picked up the reading bit, like you did @GeminiGiggles

Please don't feel like a numpty. Most of us lesser mortals who are non lawyers struggle. Thanks to prh47 as usual.

Oblomov24 · 28/06/2024 07:38

This case, as with many big ones, 'The post office' as if the massive corporations/businesses/organisations are some sort of huge entity, which is unaccountable. But they aren't. It's actually individuals, in charge. Who make errors, normally.

A lot has been double Dutch to me, also not a lawyer. Nor an IT person. I've zoned out of the IT if I'm honest. Nauticant had to explain it to me like I was a six year old 😂

Olgipolgi · 28/06/2024 09:34

hoping Mr Maloney is back today. He’s my favourite.

minou123 · 28/06/2024 09:42

I imagine Mr Maloney will ask some questions. I saw him sat next to Jo Hamilton for the last 3 days.

I imagine all the core participant lawyers will be asking questions today
Certainly Mr Henry, as Seema Misra has also been sat next to to him for the last 3 days.

This is going to be a difficult day for Gareth Jenkins.

Almost certainly. He's the barrister appointed by Hudgells and you can see their list of clients here:

You can also see things like this:

(in respect of the former core participant, the late Mrs Lynette Hutchings)

He's aged about 10 years in the last few days, god knows what he'll look like by the end of today!

DanielGault · 28/06/2024 09:51

IT problems. Ironic.

DanielGault · 28/06/2024 09:52

She's ruthless 😬

Olgipolgi · 28/06/2024 10:13

This is shooting fish in a barrel. Has Gareth had a make over ?

HomelessAngua · 28/06/2024 10:18

Not specific to today but...
Surely a good investigator would follow the money.

Wasn't there no money to follow though?

DanielGault · 28/06/2024 10:22

I would hate to be sat in his seat today.

dewfirst · 28/06/2024 10:25

God , she’s good !
