My husband has the heating on

We're in a small flat in the UK and it's boiling. He's washed some clothes and decided to put the heating on to dry them over the radiators.

"We" tried drying them over a drying rack next to an open window and he decided that they smelled bad after 30 mins so washed them again.

Now every radiator in the flat is blasting out heat and I've got a headache. He won't turn them off.

Is this normal?? Im so pissed off!

Who pays the bills?

Good question. What's the going rate on a drunk hitting his wife these days?

Diddlyumptious · 25/06/2024 18:08

I agree about tumbling can ruin clothes however there's no need for heating to be on to dry clothes, normally and certainly not in this heat 🥵🥵🥵 hope he's paying the electric bill!! 🤑

He doesn't get physical, apart from two times when he was really drunk. But, I just feel like it's his way or nothing. He is a good husband though.

That’s not a good husband. You have a really low bar.

HooverTheRoof · 25/06/2024 18:11

I was about to write something about the laundry I did yesterday being dry already, but then I read your last update as it doesn't seem important anymore. The laundry is not what you should be concerned about here.

Go read that back slowly to yourself.

Ohgoodlord · 25/06/2024 18:00

Well you're obviously not in the UK then.

Why do you say that?

Peacefulbeach · 25/06/2024 18:19

What a dick head. I hope he’s footing the full bill.

Peacefulbeach · 25/06/2024 18:19

Yeh exactly. Talk about contradiction!

Lifeomars · 25/06/2024 18:20

I'd have an emotional meltdown swiftly followed by a physical one in that level of heat and madness!

SarahYou · 25/06/2024 16:43

We have a washer/ dryer.

He won't use it because he says it ruins his clothes.

He's an idiot

For once. please show him this thread

We’re not all in the south.

That's not how a good husband behaves.

BarcardiWithGadaffia · 25/06/2024 18:22

Have you posted about him before, is he the man who is from a hotter country?

As you've already been told many times, he is ridiculous

GingerPirate · 25/06/2024 18:28

Bloody hell.
It's 40 C in my kitchen (house).
Tried to do some work outside, but gave up.
Your husband has a screw loose.

What?

id be gone the first time someone touched me. He wouldn’t get a chance second time regardless of how drunk he was!

have yoh ever hit someone when you’re drunk? How many of us hit our partners when we’re drunk

its no excuse.

Do not show a violent man that you're publicly discussing him fgs.

NeverDropYourMooncup · 25/06/2024 18:34

Is he pissed now?

I very strongly recommend that you stay in an airconditioned hotel tonight and check back tomorrow afternoon/evening to see whether he's still alive - as drunk, putting the heating on in this weather and being a violent prick is a recipe for killing himself from heatstroke.

You do need to leave it until tomorrow because he might become violent again. And it's going to be far too hot for you to return tonight.

DelectableMe · 25/06/2024 18:35

I'm just going to echo what pp have said:
He is not a good husband.

How the actual fuck is he a good husband? He’s a maniac and an abuser it seems.

This, 💯

user1471538283 · 25/06/2024 18:37

It takes alot for me to feel the heat but even I am finding it warm. You must be feeling quite unwell with it.

I'd go out. Find somewhere lovely for dinner and go a friend's or an air conditioned hotel for the night.

This is mental.

Oh Good Lord, Scotland is very much part of the UK actually 🙄

DelectableMe · 25/06/2024 18:38

The washer dryer does not ruin clothes.
He's using it wrongly. However, as pp have said, the laundry really isn't the problem.
He is.

SarahYou · 25/06/2024 18:44

I don't really know what to say, we have been together a long time.

He likes things his own way and when he has a few too many drinks it gets worse and sometimes I feel like I should just be quiet.

I feel stupid typing this out now.

Laundry isn't the real issue here.

But if it was, why has nobody mentioned the 'L' word? Launderette. The ones near me are fantastic. Super-clean, huge dryers,. In 20 -30 mins everything is dry, foldable and doesn't smell, since there's so much space for it to tumble about in.

Clothes are less creased and not 'ruined' or shrunken, I think because I keep more of an eye on them when I'm paying for every 5 mins. In winter I dry 2 or 3 x big 8kg loads at once for around £7 (including towels).

Miles better than a poky washer/dryer or most domestic tumble dryers.
