My husband has the heating on

We're in a small flat in the UK and it's boiling. He's washed some clothes and decided to put the heating on to dry them over the radiators.

"We" tried drying them over a drying rack next to an open window and he decided that they smelled bad after 30 mins so washed them again.

Now every radiator in the flat is blasting out heat and I've got a headache. He won't turn them off.

Is this normal?? Im so pissed off!

I'm seriously grumpy right now because of the heat and my husband is being really nice to me because he knows how much I suffer in the heat, if he put the heating on I think I would kill him

honestanswers · 25/06/2024 17:51

The best thing about this weather is clothes drying within a day/some within a few hours depending on the material!! Why on earth would anyone think putting the heating on in this weather is okay? 🙄

TeapotCollection · 25/06/2024 17:51

To dry your washing, put it onto hangers and hook them onto a curtain rail with the window open

You have worse problems than washing though OP

He doesn't get physical, apart from two times when he was really drunk. But, I just feel like it's his way or nothing. He is a good husband though.

No. He isn’t a good husband. This obviously goes way beyond his idiocy in putting the heating on in sweltering weather. I thought it probably did.

stalecrayon · 25/06/2024 17:53

I have just had mine in for half an hour. It’s 13 degrees and raining where I am in Scotland.

Lots of people where I am have had their heating on for the past couple of weeks, its been cold. Still quite chilly today but no rain, thank goodness. I don't get the issue unless its London or somewhere much warmer than here.

Sometimesright · 25/06/2024 17:56

Send him out for a dehumidifier. ( screwfix was where we got ours from) Put it in a small room with the clothes on a clothes horse. They wont shrink then. Honestly best money I spent last year! Cheap and clothes dried quite quickly too

tommyhoundmum · 25/06/2024 17:57

That's mad. I'm in SW4 and can lend my laundry stand if you would like it

PickAChew · 25/06/2024 17:57

It's clearly not cold where OP is or else she wouldn't be posting this.

ACynicalDad · 25/06/2024 17:58

NTA as they put it on reddit

DinnaeFashYersel · 25/06/2024 17:58

Our heating is on too. It's 13C and raining

Bogeyes · 25/06/2024 18:00

That's abusive. You are suffering.

Well you're obviously not in the UK then.

SeatonCarew · 25/06/2024 18:00

This is not how a good husband behaves OP. Or a sane or reasonable one.

As an aside, does he complain about the bills?

jay55 · 25/06/2024 18:00

It's 30 degrees in my flat I couldn't get the heating to go on if I wanted to.
He sounds insane.

TypingoftheDead · 25/06/2024 18:01

It’s hot where I am - don’t know the actual temperature but I think I’d die in a house if the heating was on as well!

Do you honestly believe that?

Dillydollydingdong · 25/06/2024 18:03

You just need a clothes airer. DH is an idiot.

Alli88 · 25/06/2024 18:03

For drying washing quickly it’s fair enough.

nutbrownhare15 · 25/06/2024 18:04

Good husband does not = assaulting you even if drunk, and always having to get his own way. You matter too. Sorry for the tag@SarahYouI can't seem to delete it!

Dinosweetpea · 25/06/2024 18:04

JFC - he is NOT a good husband in any way.

Washingupdone · 25/06/2024 18:04

Who pays the bills?

Hedgehog23 · 25/06/2024 18:05

Dehumidifier? I wouldn’t have the heating on, you’ll roast!

MartyFunkhouser · 25/06/2024 18:07

I would actually bludgeon him to death.
