WHERE is the sun?!! It is ludicrous, I don't remember a June like this for years and I keep depressing myself with the fucking BBC weather app. They promised sunshine and warmth and now they are saying rain, rain, rain. How on earth is anyone supposed to cope? I am going to Barcelona in a few weeks, and I am counting the seconds. AARGH!

Ah @NeverEnoughPants if you look at the OP on other threads you will find she likes to dish it out but can’t stand being disagreed with. Threads about the weather are silly we have no control over it.

Cuwins · 24/06/2024 13:38

Too hot in south east England today. Would be quite happy for the sun to go in for a bit!

SnugglyJumpersMakeItBetter · 24/06/2024 13:38

I'm in Cornwall and feel as you do OP. Absolutely desperate! I feel like I just can't cope with another winter after a summer like this, but I have absolutely no choice! I can't afford a holiday so haven't even got that to pep me up a bit. It stinks.

MsLuxLisbon · 24/06/2024 13:33

Thank you!!

I'll tell you what else brings me down. I see on Facebook or photo memories 'this time 2 years ago' and it's DS in a pool, a sandpit, the park, me and a friend with a cocktail. I then glance out the window... pissing down 😅

the80sweregreat · 24/06/2024 13:39

Hate hate hate the idea of a heatwave now ( or ever )
Some People are actually happy about this too!

Judellie · 24/06/2024 13:40

Lovely and sunnyhere in the north east; weekend was glorious too. Sun's definitely here (finally!)

RobertaFirmino · 24/06/2024 13:41

Roasting here but not in a nice way. Grey sky and no sunshine.

SoundTheSirens · 24/06/2024 13:41

I sympathise OP. I'm not in Glasgow and the weather in my part of NE England is okay today (albeit clouding over now...) but Thursday was literally the first day this year that the temperature reached >20%. We had to get to the fucking solstice and nights starting to draw in again before we got something approximating to summer. It's been unseasonably grey, cold and wet all spring and early summer and it really does play havoc with your mental health to never feel the sun on your skin.

I hope you get some sun and warmth soon OP and enjoy Barcelona, I'm very envious of your forthcoming break!

RaininSummer · 24/06/2024 13:42

Cold and overcast with threat of rain in Devon. Miserable.

MsLuxLisbon · 24/06/2024 13:25

At least you realise it lol. Seriously, though, you're not the only one. Next time someone comes on this site complaining about their income or their relationship or their house, I will respond saying how great my life is!

You started a thread about the weather, and now you're managing to take offense at the responses? We're talking about THE WEATHER. It's the definition of inoffensive small talk.

Thank you so much, and I hope you soon get a break as well. Thank you for getting what I'm saying, some people are so dense it beggars belief.

You're missing my point entirely.

What's your point then? I thought you were saying you're upset about the weather and you think people talking about the nice weather where they are are being mean or flaunting their good fortune, much as if they came onto a thread about an unhappy marriage to say how happy they are.

Was that not what you were saying?

Abracadabra12345 · 24/06/2024 13:44

Scottishgirl85 · 24/06/2024 13:17

I'm a Glaswegian but moved to SE England 17 years ago. The difference in weather is incredible. I spend most of my time being too hot!

Do you ever wish you were back because of the weather? I wouldn't like days and months of grim and grey weather, that's enough to bring anyone down, but the SE is nearly always a couple or more degrees hotter than anywhere else and I wish it wasn't! I'd glad move northwards but as OP said:

"Oh yeah, because everyone can just upstakes and leave family, friends, job, etc. on a whim. Good lord".

Most of us have dependants or things which tie them to an area and most of the year I'm happy living here. But the heatwaves always get us first and stay longer

OP I hope you get some of our sun soon

Oh FFS. It isn't 'small talk' because I was talking about how it has been affecting my mental health. I didn't put (lighthearted) There have been so many threads like this with people having a good moan, none of them have drawn so much downright obtuseness as this one.

Outskirts of Manchester here and it's currently 25 and sunny, so it doesn't always rain in Manchester to whoever pointed that out. Plus according to the Met Office weather forecast, it's only going to last 3 days and then back to late teens/low 20s temps

OP posts:
femfemlicious · 24/06/2024 13:46

Boiling hot here in Enfield 😁

MsLuxLisbon · 24/06/2024 13:49

As I type this, the sun is very gradually coming out and I feel a smile forming on my face. I think I will go out and hope it continues to improve. Thanks to everyone who understood my point. As for the rest of you, you'll see what I mean soon enough once the heatwave ends and we're back to rain, or if it doesn't end and you get weeks of relentless heat, you'll maybe appreciate what weather can do to mental health and try not kicking someone when they're donw.

Baking in East Sussex

taylorswift1989 · 24/06/2024 13:52

I don't think anyone was kicking you OP. Just saying it's sunny where they are.

Alittlefrustrated · 24/06/2024 13:53

NE England here - very hot and sunny, too hot infact.

Idontknowhatnametochoose · 24/06/2024 13:53

Glorious here on South Coast!

Epidote · 24/06/2024 13:57

In West Yorkshire we can do with 3 or 4 degrees less. It is proper boiling.

FrenchandSaunders · 24/06/2024 13:57

It’s an extreme reaction to a poor spring/summer OP. Surely you realise that?

I've just got myself a portable fan 8.99 on Amazon and it's making Yorkshire a much more pleasant experience today!
