Did anyone enjoy Taylor but felt at 3.5 hours it…. dragged a little?

I admit that i’m not her biggest fan and it was a bit of a fluke that i got a ticket to go with friends.

I enjoy her music and think she’s amazing but a dedicated Swiftie… I am not!

I just felt that it could have been at least thirty mins shorter and would have been more enjoyable. Even amongst the hardened Swifties around us, I sensed a little restlessness.

Anyone else agree?

OP posts:

It’s just really weird, isn’t it? I wonder what’s behind their need to post over and over to be unkind, just because she doesn’t meet their taste in music? Or is there more to it?

Are they unhappy in their own lives? Do they have an issue with successful women? Do they just not like seeing others do well? Are they intolerant of others tastes in general? Do they dislike that someone brings others joy?

Because it doesn’t really make sense to post/talk obsessively about someone who just make songs that you just happen to not like.

The OP literally said that, whilst not a Swiftie, they like TS. They went to her gig with mates, enjoyed it, but thought it was a bit too long.

How did you get from that, to the bullshit quoted above? It's terrifying that this is coming from actual adults. The OP did not say a single unkind word about her - just that the gig was too long for her.

TheTwirlyPoos · 24/06/2024 21:50

I don't think they were talking about the OP, I think they were talking about the stuff that followed.

They weren’t talking about OP I suspect. There was one poster in particular who spouted obsessive, negative comments for an hour straight.

OMG don't tell them that they'll want to kill you!

I was listening to the charts in the car recently when TS had just released her latest 500 songs and the were all completely meh to my ear. I do like some of her big songs but this was like she was just spamming the charts. Do less but better would be my advice - I guess some would say the same about the gig.

'Think what you have just witnessed' - it wasn't the second coming for Christ's sake.

I don’t think she needs your advice 🤣

Fair enough, I think a lot of the posts are blurring into one at this point!

Apologies @FromBackHome, I misunderstood your post.

Some people are so bitter and jealous of this beautiful young woman who has incredible success and a massive fan base.

😂😂😂

dizzydizzydizzy · 24/06/2024 22:54

DD2 said it was the best day of her life and wants to go again.

EC22 · 24/06/2024 22:54

I loved every minute.

hurlyburlygirly · 24/06/2024 22:57

We're going in summer but have had some good training this year with the foo fighters and Bruce Springsteen. All good value for money and great shows. Smile

I feel depressed about both of them
You couldn't have picked two worse people to compare.
Adele is a foul mouthed woman, dragging society down even more and as common as muck. No class. Does she swear like that in front of her son/mother. Deffo no role model.
Elton is the big don't you know who I am type. Remember his outburst at an airport.
Very mediocre too. Appaulling to big for his boots attitude as well.

Mediocre, yeah, right. Elton John is one of the greatest musical talents of the rock/pop era. His back catalogue is up there with Stevie Wonder/The Beatles/Paul Simon.
He behaved quite badly during his drug days which are pretty much behind him now and his well known for his generosity and support of new artists. None of that is relevant to his talent though.

I went to Liverpool, and wished it was just one song longer, proper gutted she removed Long Live from the set list.

In all honesty, some part were not my fav, speaking as a fan since her second album, but the point of the show was to highlight all her eras, all chapters of her life. Shes been in the industry for a long time now, it had to be that long. Plus she wanted to showcase albums that she hadnt toured previously, which was a lot of music. There were parts i sat down for, parts i danced like i was 12 for, parts i screamed out like a (rather expensive) therapy session. Thats the joy of the show, even if you are not a hardcore dedicated full career fan, you can still enjoy the songs you do love, and the amazing show that she puts on.

Whether you like her or not, her success in undeniable, she has music people can relate to even if you dont. Plus, the atmosphere at her shows is just lovely. I dont understand the hate she gets. I feel the released songs that become mainstream are often her weakest, and if people gave her albums a chance, maybe they would understand the hype more, even if it isnt their tastes or style of music.

But music is all a matter of preference, theres plenty of music genres i dislike listening to, but i can respect the artists and their successes without needing to slate them, i just chose not to listen to them. I feel TS gets more hate and judgement than is justifiable.

I agree with this. Her most commercially successful music is not her best music, it's just the songs that do best within the mainstream. She knows what does well with charts vs her genuinely excellent music.

I also don't think a lot of posters on this thread realise that for those 30 and below that stevie wonder, Elton John, Bruce Springsteen etc. aren't huge names to that generation and aren't particularly a relevant comparison. The only one I'd have any interest in as a 31 year old is Elton John and even then I wouldn't sit through a full gig, it's different generations.

Yes, DS said he was surprised he enjoyed the Stones at Glastonbury, I don't think he had really heard much of them Shock He was early 20s at the time.

Obsessive - hilarious! It was clearly a response to the bizarre deification of TS, when the OP had only said something quite mild and reasonable. But sure, the people who aren’t obsessed with TS are the obsessive ones.

MrsClownland · 25/06/2024 08:27

I wouldn't have liked it to be shorter as I wanted certain songs in that were my favourite and there were many others there who loved different songs from different albums - that's the whole point of it being "eras". It wasn't a standard "promote the new album with a few classics" tour.

You think that typing abuse about someone you claim to hate for an hour straight isn’t obsessive? Interesting..

I don’t hate anyone! I’ve never met the poor girl - I’m sure she’s very nice. I think I even said some positive things about her appearance and role model capacity actually.

My posts were critical of the deification of pop stars, and of the mass music industry. Ok I was being a little extreme and provocative in response to the obsessive fandom and claims of genius, but there was no hate anywhere.

And part of it was a discussion about pizza and value with another poster. I am sorry for hijacking your thread with annoying theory bollocks OP, I was distracting myself from the day’s woes! Momentarily channelling my 20 year old argumentative opinionated self haha. The world is calmer without her!

randoname · 25/06/2024 12:49

To be fair to EveningSpread, she's not one of the haterz- we did indeed have a good chat about values, role models etc,

Alwaysthesun24 · 25/06/2024 13:03

@EveningSpread it's possibly me they were referring to - a couple of posters got annoyed with me, apparently because I don't worship TS. You are/were fine. 😬

EveningSpread · 25/06/2024 20:35

@Alwaysthesun24 Ah! Hello, fellow nasty naysayer! 😂

Devon23 · 26/06/2024 15:31

Maybe your entering that age bracket where theatre would suit you better.
