Starmer, JKR, what's most important to most women?

1000 replies

PupInAPram · 22/06/2024 13:14

In my more than 60 years, decades of being a single working parent, many experiences of being on the bones of my arse, Labour Party policies have made huge beneficial differences in my day-to-day life. Worrying if there is a man in the next toilet or feeling uncomfortable with a trans woman has literally never been on my radar. If I'm making a decision about voting for the politician who can bring about the greatest good for the greatest number, it's Starmer every time. I wish JKR would just pipe down.

What's next? Articles from Pink News? From Owen Jones himself?

Fidelius · 22/06/2024 18:03

This thread captures every single well worn and well worn out “talking point” to deny the reality of trans activism’s infringement on women’s rights.
Any weary traveller down this road has heard them all, including the following:

How can you tell is someone is trans without being told? And the particularly prurient “genital inspection” variant.
I don’t mind sharing a bathroom/toilet, why should you?
If you’d ever met a trans woman you’d know they’re women
Objectors are just transphobic - it’s new racism/homophobia
Why should you worry about 0.1% of the population?
It’s violent men we need to watch out for, not trans women
What has JKR ever done for women?
Women should just wheesht

And so on ad nauseam.

All I can say is, I’m grateful for the fact that there are many here who know it’s not about toilets, not about how someone chooses to present, or live their lives. It’s about the slow institutional erosion of the sex category “woman”. If you don’t see it, lucky you with your head in the sand, but it’s here, and it’s coming for your choices, your rights. Unless there are more voices like JKR’s and Duffield’s, that we amplify while we still can

Anyone else disappointed that the predatory lesbian hasn't made an appearance yet? I was hoping for a full bingo card.

I just need the photo of a muscular trans man and poster asking if we're happy with this woman in the women's toilet for a full house

And he would have been put into a women's prison if there hadn't been an outcry.

I really don't think so.

They are quoting YouGov stats which show that most people are spectacularly unbothered about trans people. It's just that all the frothers at the mouth are here on Mumsnet clutching their pearls.

The Scottish government did NOT put a male sex attacker in a women’s prison

Yes they. already have and on several occasions. One 6ft5 male sex offender was even on release put into a homeless women's shelter.

This is the movement JKR is trying to stop! Posted just today.

The small ‘quivering’ minority who HATE us! I’ve read countless posts much worse than this!

Our voice needs to be collective to stop this! Thank goodness JKR is NOT afraid to speak out against this, to show others the vile things they post!

This is clearly a troll account and they exist on both sides.

EveDeservesBetter · 22/06/2024 18:06

I wish JKR would just pipe down.

Women telling women to stop having opinions!!

FFS, let women speak.

WinterInTheAutumn · 22/06/2024 18:06

Men, whether they’re wearing red lipstick and a flowery dress, are STILL a threat to women.

Just because they dress feminine does not mean they are weaker, does not mean they don’t pose a risk, does not mean they WOULD HAVE ANY CLUE, how vulnerable a REAL woman feels when they enter OUR spaces.

Katie Dolatowski was also housed in homeless women.and children's accommodation in England. He's a paedophile.

They absolutely did. Do you think there was only one transwoman sex offender? Transwomen have been found to commit sex offences at a rate several times that of other men. There was an outcry over Isla Bryson but he was hardly the first. Katie Dolatowski was another, who assaulted girls in a women’s toilets.

How many people did they ask? What’s their sample size? You should know as you’re quoting it.

Another bingo! Pearl Clutchers!

But times have changed including the availability of very small cameras for catching us all undressed and then the ability to load it all up on the www for everyone to see.

But surely the men who would want to do such things have always been around?

moonshinepoursthroughmywindow · 22/06/2024 18:09

I don't care who's in my toilet and I would rather have Starmer than any of the available alternatives.

Indeed, that is why women need single sex spaces where men, however they identify, are excluded.

YouGov is generally respected as using large and representative sample sizes.
https://yougov.co.uk/about/panel-methodology
I have no idea exactly how many people were asked across the specific surveys cited.

Methodology | YouGov

YouGov conducts its public opinion surveys online using something called Active Sampling for the overwhelming majority of its commercial work, including all nationally and regionally representative research. The emphasis is always on the quality of the...

I’ve had the misfortune to deal with KD. Absolutely not one of you ‘you all hate trans people you big pearl clutchers’ would want him in your spaces or around your daughters. I also didn’t have to check his willy to know he’s a man.

Though I’m sure we’ll have a ‘he’s not a real trans woman!’ along in a minute.
