Holly Valance from neighbours has donated 50k to reform. The mind boggles.

Used to be a fan and loved the last episode of neighbours where she was in London.

Stop the world I want to get off.

She also hosted a fundraiser for Donald Trump recently.

I’ve never heard of her, but this immediately gives me the worst impression of her.
Trump supporters:
the very wealthy & questionably educated
the very poor & uneducated

And you know this how?

Listening to what she says is a good indication.

No educated Americans I know think Trump is a good egg. I spend a lot of time there and they are all deeply embarrassed by him and appalled that people vote for him.

So who would your educated friends be voting for? If they’re educated, surely they understand that Biden is ill? He’s not well at all mentally, and it’s cruel to see how his behaviour is ridiculed globally, when he clearly shouldn’t be in charge of a country which is one of the global super powers. How have Americans allowed this to happen, where their choices are between these two? America has a population of over 300 million and here they are with these two the only contenders for presidency.

So weird, to suddenly dislike someone because of their political opinions, this is why discussions are difficult to have because of people's irrational responses.

Not really it shows their character.

RubySloth · 22/06/2024 18:22

Do you know them personally? I have no opinion on her, I liked her song when I was a kid and that's all I can say as I don't know her.

She's not anything special she's all looks well was she can't sing at all and just looked an idiot prancing around half naked she's talentless famous for doing nothing but flaunting her body nothing good wouldn't mind if she helped people who are sick and dying or goin hungry or etc she's done nothing spectacular like rest of the z listers like herself..

coffeandteav · 22/06/2024 21:19

@Livelovebehappy Starmer was.

Scammersarescum · 22/06/2024 21:39

Well it's her money she can spend it how she likes.

People are allowed different political opinions. I personally can't bear Farage but I wouldn't chuck a milkshake on him or set up a nasty thread about a woman I've never met so people can froth and make personal attacks.

I'm with you @RubySloth there's such a lack of tolerance and acceptance these days.

I have a friend who despite being late middle aged is a life long student. he's become very isolated because he can no longer integrate like a normal human. Anyone whose views differ from his own is right wing and questionable. I can only cope with him in small doses because when I see him he just lectures you for HOURS.

People need to learn to detach more. Just because Holly Valance likes Farage it's doesn't mean she's a bad person.

Different strokes for different folks

Reform UK leader Nigel Farage is under fire after reiterating he blames the West and NATO for the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Surely, that's the same argument made by Seumas Milne in 2015;

https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2015/mar/04/demonisation-russia-risks-paving-way-for-war

Six months later, Seumas Milne was appointed executive director of strategy and communications for the Labour party - a post he held for nearly five years.

Did Keir Starmer and friends complain at the time?

I think Nigel Farage may well have lost quite a few voters with those comments, but be fair, they're no worse than some things Labour has said about certain people in society.

What has Labour said about people in society?

Whenwillitgetwarm · 22/06/2024 23:49

People like Vallance are so rich that everything is a game, an exchange of ideas. Nothing matters. She can be far right or far left, it won’t impact her. If shit hits the fan for the super rich like her, she’ll be on a personal jet out of here.

Things like workers rights, the ability for disabled people to live with dignity, minorities to not feel scared every time they leave their house, don’t matter to her. You know, little people shit. It’s like Dangerous Liasons. We’re stupid toys. It’s all just a game to people like her, Musk, Theil etc.

Do you really need to ask? REALLY............? Hmm

I'm interested. Labour have said a lot of things over the course of their existence, so I wouldn't know which particular things are being referred to.

Yes, yes I do. Not all of us follow politics closely so please include some links/citations regarding what you mean.

Labour have existed since 1900 so yeah, I do need to know what particular statements you are referring to. Once I know, I might agree with you. Smile

I used to not “follow (our US) politics closely,” and then the politicians started making my decisions for me. And that made me very angry.
So then I started following politics closely.
When they find out you’re paying attention they tend to work in your favour instead of their own.
But you have to keep on them all the time.
We might as well govern ourselves, which is why we elected them in the first place.

Very well put. Its sad society rips you to shreds for the "wrong opinion". I doubt she would get this much flack if she donated to the Workers party. Though it still wouldn't make her a bad person.

coffeandteav · 23/06/2024 11:28

I think it does make her a bad person for supporting a racist misogynist party but that's me.

ExtraOnions · 23/06/2024 11:34

I will very much think that someone who supports a racist, lying, Putin apologist, and who also raises money for a criminally convicted “pussy grabbing”, misogynist.. to be an awful person all round.

Being mates with misogynistic men isn't an "opinion" though. I'll absolutely rip anyone to shreds who does that.

blueshoes · 23/06/2024 15:20

Not sure if Ms Valance has registered the risk of being traded up if she supports misogyny. Unfortunately with the best will, money and surgeons in the world, we cannot outrun biology or the desire of men for the new shiny thing.

I hope so - I'm a Conservative voter although I'm not going to criticise those posters who do want to vote Reform. The point of my post was to highlight Labour/Starmer's hypocrisy - Starmer and other members of his shadow cabinet worked alongside Seumas Milne under Jeremy Corbyn for nearly five years:
