Holly Valance from neighbours has donated 50k to reform. The mind boggles.

Used to be a fan and loved the last episode of neighbours where she was in London.

Stop the world I want to get off.

What @wickerlady said 👏

So what? It's her money and her right to choose which party she supports.

Despicable suggesting that there is only one acceptable party to admit to supporting at the moment and a seriously sad sign of the times.

This.

OperationDinnerout · 21/06/2024 23:11

DinaofCloud9 · 21/06/2024 21:51

Why does it matter what she spends her money on?

because in general people like to say we are in a democracy, but what they really mean at times is they should be doing x,y,z instead etc

Noddedoffagain · 21/06/2024 23:12

DBSFstupid · 21/06/2024 23:08

This.

Despicable is too strong though don’t you think? Also, I don’t think it’s about party politics, more about a woman supporting misogynistic men.

Given the views she holds on immigrants, it’s interesting that she feels comfortable being one herself.

Ah but she’s the ‘right’ kind of immigrant.

StarOf · 21/06/2024 23:14

Apologies if this question has been asked already as not had a chance to RTFT but isn’t she Australian? Unless they live in Britain I guess….

Just done a quick Google search and can see her mum is British!

Or the "white" kind Wink

PrinnyPree · 21/06/2024 23:15

Laughing at all the "dun nuffin wrong" crowd. Reform is a dog whistle racist party that tries its best to walk a tightrope of plausible deniability, a PR friendly NF or BNP if you will, so anybody sympathising with their views makes me view you as a racist.

Thats why Reform is disgusting, she is vile and the defenders of it all are pathetic.

@refractin

why start a thread then not engage in it??

why is what SHE chooses to spend HER money on, any of your business?

askmenow · 21/06/2024 23:20

Noddedoffagain · 21/06/2024 22:17

It’s very hard to understand how a woman can support men who hate women. Trump and Farage are mysoginistic. Farage supports Andrew Tate and his views. Is a sympathiser of Putin.

These men all represent toxic masculinity and are dangerous for women’s rights. I think any woman supporting them is bonkers.

You talk a load of rubbish! Farage isnt misoginistic. He know what a woman is and supports women safe spaces.
Which is mote than can be said of Starmer. You need to listen more and assimilate all views before spouting such drivel

WalkingaroundJardine · 21/06/2024 23:20

StripedPiggy · 21/06/2024 21:54

I don’t share or agree with Holly Valance’s political views, but Reform is a mainstream political party, so she is perfectly entitled to support them and to donate to them. In exactly the same way as I have donated more modest sums to Labour.

Democracy isn’t free, so good for her.

I would not call a party whose leader expressed sympathy for Putin and blames the West for the invasion of Ukraine ”mainstream”.

Vallence is a billionaire’s wife now and I view her actions through that context. Looking after their interests but pretending to care about the “ordinary people” is what they do.

No. It’s not too strong a word. But t’s perfectly apt and describes exactly where we are with our complete intolerance of any other point of view. This continued intolerance of anyone that dares to think differently is also dangerous.

Maybe because shes spending money on a political party that actually effects real peoples lives and that deserves comment and opinion?

Although it depends if you see the people who Reform target as people really.

Is it intolerant to dislike Nazis too?

Wow. Rude! You sound very angry.

He supports the views of Andrew Tate.

Anyone standing up for the views of Tate is misogynistic IMO. I stand by my view.

He’s openly supported Trump, Tate and Putin. He’s no feminist ally in my view.

Farage stands by comment describing Tate as ‘important voice’ for men

The Reform UK leader was on the campaign trail in Clacton-on-Sea.

Edited

but at the same time then the other main parties are far from saints too, maybe they all should no be mainstream parties ?

What a bizarrely illogical argument. None of the other political parties endorse Andrew Tate or Putin or pull the majority of their candidates from a far right organisation

It’s not intolerant to question the actions of a woman who very actively supports misogynistic men in their endeavours to influence the world. It’s a democracy and the OP said nothing despicable at all. Just voiced her dismay at someone she previously held in high regard doing something she feels goes against her principles. Despicable is hyperbole.

but they have done many other stunts instead, remember party gate, covid etc it all adds up
