Holly Valance from neighbours has donated 50k to reform. The mind boggles.

Used to be a fan and loved the last episode of neighbours where she was in London.

Stop the world I want to get off.

Why are people telling OP that Holly can donate to who she wants? SHE KNOWS.

Edited

Because they want to defend supporting Reform and....tumbleweed....so 'she can donate to who she wants' fills the otherwise embarrassing silence.

tattychicken · 21/06/2024 23:33

Reform is just BNP reinvented. Hideous ideology.

Why does it matter what she spends her money on?

Support for racism bothers some of us.

but they have done many other stunts instead, remember party gate, covid etc it all adds up

So by the other main parties you mean the Tories...?

CosyFanTucci · 21/06/2024 23:33

I didn't understand Holly Valance's point of view until I read about her family background, which explains the pro-Putin, racist stuff.

yes all the main ones, considering all the various scandals etc

What's this sexist "little woman can't have an opinion of her own" crap all about? However unpalatable her views may be.

PrinnyPree · 21/06/2024 23:35

OperationDinnerout · 21/06/2024 23:27

but at the same time then the other main parties are far from saints too, maybe they all should no be mainstream parties ?

I don't think people really have a problem with the Green party. So lets not pretend disliking dogwhistle racists that would "cleanse" London given half the chance is because people are turning their nose up at single issue fringe parties. It just depends on what that single issue is.

Are we not allowed to comment and criticise politics and peoples political views without being accused of silencing democracy. It is not our duty to challenge billionaire party donors because at the end of the day thats what she effectively is.

I didn't mean to be sexist and I know very little.about her. But I do know that her "wealth" comes from her husband.

Cooper77 · 21/06/2024 23:38

Not all celebrities are sanctimonious, hypocritical poseurs. I’m sick to death of celebs indulging in fake outrage and posing as woke lefties because they think it looks good. What makes it even worse is that you just know most of them are squirrelling away their money and doing all they can to avoid tax.

Maybe Holly Valence actually thinks for herself. Not everyone mindlessly regurgitates liberal-left views and then sits back waiting for applause.

Can you elaborate?

DinaofCloud9 · 21/06/2024 22:13

Lol. So just different views to you then.

Oh don't be so obtuse. Of course people can say that someone is awful. The poster quoted exactly why she thought she was awful.

I don't agree with people eating and using animals, and I think they are awful. It isn't different views, it is factual. I continue to get along with the majority of the people in my life, but they are still fucking awful for contributing to animal suffering and allowing it to continue.

Of course, we can comment and criticize politics and people's views without it being seen as silencing democracy. That's what democracy is all about, right? Sharing different opinions and debating them openly. ?

Dorisbonson · 21/06/2024 23:40

Nick Candy has some seriously dodgy business associates. Would be worth a panorama/police investigation.

Some are just racist supporters and get applause from people like you. Donating to reform is still "virtue signalling" it just depends what your virtues are.

This is the party’s own leader calmly speaking and expressing his views publicly on TV without any pressure - showing the ideological identity of the party. This does make Reform quite different to the other parties in my eyes and extreme.

Yes I expect that's why he likes to stay cosy with people in politics

There are hints in various media articles but he obviously knows how to buy silence

Probably some fear of broken legs too keeps people quiet too.

Lazy argument. As always. They want controlled immigration. Like most of the UK would like to see. Good for her that she’s being open about it, because she will now get every bigoted Labour troll verbally attacking her, so shows she’s got the balls to not give a damn. I’m voting Reform, and whatever label you want to put on me, crack on.

Bosabosa · 22/06/2024 00:13

Legal Immigration is really controlled already, it is really hard to sponsor immigrants into jobs for most businesses (my firm have given up, it is expensive and the bar is too high). It might be illegal Immigration you feel is out of control and needs controlling. This was once controlled by the EU with camps in France but we don't have that anymore due to Brexit and therefore we are getting higher levels of illegal Immigration across the Channel. I can't see how the person who increased the level of illegal Immigration into the UK being the answer to it myself.

DinaofCloud9 · 21/06/2024 21:51

It kind of matters when she uses it to help bigots and racists.

Scruffily · 22/06/2024 00:20

wickerlady · 21/06/2024 22:16

So what? It's her money and her right to choose which party she supports.

Despicable suggesting that there is only one acceptable party to admit to supporting at the moment and a seriously sad sign of the times.

Saying that Reform is a racist, despicable party who would be utterly disastrous if allowed anywhere near government clearly does not equate to saying there is only one acceptable party to support. If you believe otherwise you have serious issues with basic comprehension.

It is her right to choose.

But I have no respect for someone who supports Farage or Trump

MoMo999 · 22/06/2024 00:48

I've no time for her or silly far right nonsense. I think it is good that a left wing party will come to power in the UK soon in Labour and if polls are to be believed a left wing opposition in the Lib Dems. Hopefully that will mean here Farage will fizzle into oblivion. Not sure Trump will win now that he is a convicted felon, as that does not appeal to anyone outside his core base and they alone are not enough to elect him. Although Biden is terrible, I am not sure the world would be safe with Trump
