My life is complicated but I have 3 amazing children and most of the time an amazing husband. However our families are incredibly dysfunctional and cause a lot of headaches as they currently are doing.

Let me cheer myself up by living vicariously through you. Tell me the great stuff in your life.

I’ve recently given up work as my husband could see how stressed I was getting. DS has just left High school and we have loads of things planned for the summer.

I had surgery three and a bit weeks ago, having waited over 18 months, and it's been great overall but have really missed being able to walk the dog. This morning I walked him and we were both thrilled I could, he was a very happy bouncy boy and I loved getting the fresh air. Lots of belly scratches for him once I'm done with work!

I caught a hedgehog on my wildlife cam, been hoping there was one for ages and now i have proof (a brief glimpse of a spiky bum). Has made me ever so happy.

Here is ours snap. Xxx

Our tadpoles have grown legs and we have a newt in our year old pond.

Devonchills · 19/06/2024 15:47

I've just got back off a six day holiday to Greece with some very good friends, we laughed so much, drunk ourselves silly and thoroughly enjoyed every second!

This sounds great!

Tempted to tell my DH I'm stressed by having to work too and Jack it in. A whole summer just lazing around while he provides for us sounds blissful in all honesty.

I am starting a new job in September but different to what I was doing before and working for a friend in her business so will be very different. I only had 3 months mat leave before going back to work full time for financial reasons, so this is my time with my son.

I’m on countdown to go away with my adult dd to see Taylor Swift, feel happy she wants to share this with me as it’s been a hard few years, getting divorced. We are going for full on sparkles 🙈 I’m getting on a plane on my own, first time in 30 years!

AllProperTeaIsTheft · 19/06/2024 15:55

My dd, who had a bit of a wobbly time towards the end of secondary school and didn't know if she even wanted to go to uni, has just done really well in her end of first year exams and is coming to do a talk at my school about her course. I'm really proud of her. Ds seems to have smashed his GCSEs and has got a place at a great school for next year. We're all off on a lovely holiday together in July.

I am living my best life in my fifties, now that my childcare years are done. I spend every week going to the theatre, museums, galleries, talks and gigs.

I do all this on a reasonable budget with seatfiller or cheap tickets. I also go away by myself on weekend trips as often as I can manage.

It's my time now, and I refuse to feel guilty.

I could have written this! Good for you!
I'm really enjoying reading these. We're all just passing through, grab it whilst you can.

Beefandwine · 19/06/2024 15:57

These are all lovely to read!

What is making me ridiculously happy today. I just ordered our 3 children passports (2x new and 1x renewal) and then next month I shall order our renewal passports (so we can spread the cost) and then I shall book our first ever family holiday abroad in September. Only 4/5 nights in Budapest, but I cannot wait to take the kids on a plane, we're going to surprise them at the airport! We haven't been abroad since Rome in 2011 and the eldest was a baby.

marriednotdead · 19/06/2024 15:59

I’m heading home from an unusually short shift. Thank you for this thread, I’m going to read it all tomorrow!
Going to meet up later with a few friends- we met 40ish years ago when we were working together in our teens. Some of us are grandparents now and live far and wide so we aim to see each other once a year.
Tomorrow is my day to look after my grandkids who are fabulous, and then l’m off to Belfast for the weekend to see my dsis and nephew. We will swim, natter and walk the dogs on the beach.
My lovely DP (who I met after many crap relationships and a lousy marriage) will be home on Monday after his own weekend away, which will always make me smile.
Next weekend my other dsis is coming to stay, and the sun is finally shining so it’s just perfect 😊

SocoBateVira · 19/06/2024 15:59

I had excellent and invigorating sex earlier.

Pebbles16 · 19/06/2024 16:00

Today: I have just scored my first piece of paid work in nine months; been accepted on a mental health support course (all fees paid); and picked the most enormous bunch of sweet peas which smell so gorgeous, they are making me slightly giddy.
Smiles all round.

LizzieBennett73 · 19/06/2024 16:01

I'm a very lucky grandmother to 4 under 11's and adore the very bones of them. It's like having children all over again but only the good bits. I'm convinced that grandparenting is your reward for surviving the first time round!

My dogs too. Glued to my side with velcro but always loving, always wagging their tails and living their best lives. I'm blessed that they're mine.

Comtesse · 19/06/2024 16:02

I have spent a week in Hong Kong for work. It went super well and it has been a blast. Flying home tomorrow, can’t wait to see the kids and DH. Hope you are doing ok OP ….?

ArcaneWireless · 19/06/2024 16:05

It is a drying day here and I’ve made full use of it.

Dog is wagging away in her sleep.

Onand · 19/06/2024 16:07

For lunch I made sprout crispy dippers (literally frozen sprouts microwaved then squashed flat and baked with Olive oil and salt for 25 mins) and tried the new M&S Green Goddess dip. Divine.

LoveRules · 19/06/2024 16:10

I'm packing up the house I moved to as a new divorcee and about to move into a house I am buying with my fiancé. We are so excited as can't believe we got the house we drooled over when we first started considering whether we could/should buy a house together.

He's got a lovely extended family all of who live near to the near house so my daughters and I are really looking forward to the new location & lifestyle.

user09876543 · 19/06/2024 16:13

I had a work meeting cancelled earlier so instead I have been sitting in the sunshine all afternoon on the jetty which juts out over the pond. I've been eating birthday cake and watching the dragonflies whilst listening to a good audiobook. DPuppy has been keeping me entertained and getting cross when the dragonflies taunt her by coming close and then darting out over the water when she tries to catch them.

toddlepod · 19/06/2024 16:14

We have a ‘resident’ hedgehog- there’s a lovely hibernaculum hidden under a hedge amid some thick shrubs, and a bumble bee hive. When I hang the washing out I love to watch the bees come and go. Also, the sight of hedgehog poo makes me happy.

NotSorry · 19/06/2024 16:14

It’s cub camp this weekend (I’m a cub leader). Everything is pretty much ready to go so I’m enjoying a sit down before the madness starts on Friday

BuddhaAtSea · 19/06/2024 16:15

I woke up and went straight to the allotment with a big coffee. Then ate as many raspberries off the bush as I wanted, picked some rhubarb and a marrow, did some weeding with a hoe (THE most satisfying job ever!!!). Came home, chopped the rhubarb ready for a crumble later on, grated the marrow and left it to drain, ready for fritters later.
I’m waiting for the floor to dry then I’ll lock up and go back to the allotment, I’m picking strawberries and eating them there and then.

Hope you’re ok, OP.
