Which Noise Annoys You?

ItsItchy · 18/06/2024 20:51

My husband walks around the house "singing". Well it's not really singing, it's just "la la la" to no particular tune.

I should be pleased he's happy but it annoys the hell out of me!

Men sneezing. Just why? It feels so unnecessary.

Not just men, my mum sounds like Donald Duck when she sneezes

Cattenberg · 19/06/2024 16:27

I have a very loud sneeze and it drives my parents nuts. 😀 They don’t understand why I can’t just sneeze more quietly. But it doesn’t really work like that.

ItsItchy · 19/06/2024 21:12

My dog crying outside the bedroom door early in the morning. I get up to let him out in the garden and he doesn't want to go!!!!!

Our next door neighbour:

  1. his stupid bloody gormless king charles spaniel barking it's arse off from 6am through until midnight
  2. his pathetic attempts at DIY at 8pm (hammering / drilling into the party wall - he doesn't work and has all day to do this but waits until we are home to make this noise)
  3. his loud performance screaming / moaning sex with his girlfriend half his age at either 9.02pm (sitting room) or 10.02pm (bedroom). We have taken to playing classic FM loudly to drown them out. Gross.

Ugh! Ghastly ghastly man.

BeardofHagrid · 19/06/2024 21:58

I can’t stand people coughing.

XenoBitch · 19/06/2024 22:00

Drones. Some knob was flying one in my neighbourhood recently, and it made me want to kill someone.

The noise my parent's TV makes when you are flicking through menus.. "ba-doop, ba-DOOP". ARG!

My MIL's voice!!!!!!

Same, not just the sound but the nonsense that comes out

OldTinHat · 19/06/2024 22:01

Unnecessary background noise (radio, tv).

My tinnitus (which dull when the dehumidifier is on!).

FlissyPaps · 19/06/2024 22:05

Breathing.
Flip flops on tiled floors.
The humming from a fridge.
Kids fake crying.
People clearing their throat/phlem out.
Clocks ticking.

Thevelvelletes · 19/06/2024 22:09

The fifth one turns my stomach..yuk.

KreedKafer · 19/06/2024 22:21

I used to work with a woman who, most days, would make some sort of wet, sloppy food for herself (instant pasta-in-sauce, chunky soup from a tin, a bowl of instant noodles) and would then not actually eat it. She would just keep stirring it, poking listlessly at it with a spoon, lifting up spoonfuls and then just letting it flop back into the bowl, and just generally fiddling about with it, for the entire afternoon. The constant wet, sloppy noise of this cold congealing food being messed about with used to drive me absolutely insane.

I also couldn’t bring to say anything about it because it was blindingly obvious that she had a raging eating disorder.

I ended up just wearing headphones all afternoon to block it out, and then she accused me of being antisocial. It was a no-win situation.

Yeah, it’s very hard to control. My whole family are loud sneezers, including me.

spicysamosahotcupoftea · 19/06/2024 22:28

Those stupid moped motorbike things

Any neighbour noise

Anything loud

grafittiartist · 19/06/2024 22:29

Teacher here- water bottles.
The scrunching, the playing with the wrapper, slurping, bottle flipping. Drives me mad!
Metal ones are no better.

ZOeZebra35 · 19/06/2024 22:32

My ex- neighbour’s bloody “kid” lived there for 13 years and the boy was around 8 when we moved in. Bloody football kicking the fence going THUMP THUMP THUMP everyday day, every evening, rain, snow, sun whatever weather. He was still kicking it the day we left. He was around 20/21 when left! I was so happy the day we moved out. You would t think this would annoy you till you heard it. My sister had a breakdown when she stayed over when my eldest was born. Terraced house so heard it even more.

Christ, I have a friend who sneezes very audibly, but it is not loud in a bellowing way.. it is a very squeaky "cheeeew", and my god, it makes me want to throttle her and get her to sneeze in a way that actually clears her tubes.

Hello dd! She hates that noise too. Makes her irrationally angry.

Yes!!

Fizbosshoes · 19/06/2024 23:19

Virtually every frickin person on the train who wears headphones at seemingly full volume....to the extent its barely worth actually having headphones because half the carriage can also hear .....

I also hate the sound of pouring rain on the window

And....I don't hate the noise...but it is annoying when birds start chirping at bloody 4am. (And yes I have tried ear plugs)

Birds chirping = acceptable
4am = not acceptable!!

And it's NEVER identifiable songs of the sort you'd hear on Smooth Radio. Just a repetitive tsstker tsstker tsstker tsskter on and on and on.

pinkstripeycat · 20/06/2024 07:59

Cracking fingers. ALL my pupils do it (nerves I guess) and they pay me to teach them so I can’t say anything.

DH slapping his mouth when he eats. He’s says “I’m enjoying it.” 🤢

I’m with you on this one. Let’s complain. With 2 of us I’m sure we can stop this madness 😂

HcbSS · 20/06/2024 08:01

Any form of mouth noise
eating with mouth open
blowing raspberries
kissing
slurping

I have misophonia. Gives me irrational rage.

MadameMassiveSalad · 20/06/2024 08:11

Eating
Scraping cutlery on plates
Stomping loudly everywhere
Snoring like a walrus

I'm looking at YOU DH!!!!

MadameMassiveSalad · 20/06/2024 08:15
