Help settle an argument (not really an argument) between me and my husband.
What colour is my hair in this photo?

To me it would be quite a stretch to call that colour blonde!

Blonde = yellow.
Ash blonde = yellow/grey yellow.
Bleach blonde = yellow/white yellow. Strawberry blonde = yellow/red yellow.

I’m afraid there’s no yellow (or white) in that photo other than the streaks at the front left!

These descriptions make all blonde hair sound awful, which it obviously isn't.

Youdontevengohere · 12/06/2024 08:44

It’s the same colour as my hair and I’ve always called it light brown/mousy brown, but my hairdresser calls it blonde.

Definitely blonde OP!

People aren't used to seeing naturally blonde hair, as most people dye it when it starts to go darker. It's very rare to retain a very light blonde naturally - my dad's hair was pure white as a child and this is the colour his darkened to.

This was my hair as a child. Got darker the older I got, but I'd definitely say it's still blonde. I've booked an appointment with the hairdressers, hopefully I can get my blonde back but without the need for bleach.

Looks brown to me but probably what they call “Old Money Blonde” now.

TacCat49 · 12/06/2024 08:48

Dark Blonde

Vermeer · 12/06/2024 08:53

Brown. It’s not in any way blonde. It’s a perfectly nice colour, but not blonde or anywhere near it!

Revelatio · 12/06/2024 08:54

It’s definitely light brown, I can’t see any blonde in there. A lot of children’s hair colour is like that, my husband’s was the same and now he’s a very dark brown.

usernother · 12/06/2024 08:56

I think a hairdresser would say dark blonde. Otherwise known as mousey.

Revelatio · 12/06/2024 08:56

It looks like this colour which is light brown.

Old money 😂
I've never heard of that phrase used anywhere outside of The Titanic.

I think it’s what they call Taylor Swifts hair colour and apparently a HUGE trend for 2024…… no idea how I know this, clearly far too much internet for me 🙈

Nicebloomers · 12/06/2024 09:14

Dark ash blonde

HousedInMySoul · 12/06/2024 09:29

Dark blonde

sashh · 12/06/2024 09:34

I'd say mousy, but a few highlights (sorry it will need to be bleach) will blonde it for you.

RickyGervaislovesdogs · 12/06/2024 09:36

Dark blonde

PomPomtheGreat · 12/06/2024 09:39

Definitely a dark blonde.

If you want your hair to be lighter it will need bleach, won’t it?

ComfyBoobs · 12/06/2024 09:45

Mousey brown

If you don’t want to bleach it then I imagine spending lots of time outside in the sun will give it some blond streaks

flipflopsandsun · 12/06/2024 09:57

This is my hair colour currently, I want to get it dyed back to it's natural colour,
I was asking on here because my husband insists that my natural colour (in the original post) is brown, I disagree.

Isn't your hair currently bleached/highlighted though? Therefore lighter than it is naturally???

MissSeventies · 12/06/2024 10:53

Dark Blonde

Yes, so I want to get rid of the bleach and have my darker natural mousey hair back.

I was thinking I'd have to choose a dark blonde hair dye, my husband thinks brown.

But the label doesn’t really matter surely?

Just show your hairdresser a picture of your natural colour or if doing a home dye find a colour which matches.

Anything else is just branding.

HousedInMySoul · 12/06/2024 11:13

Definitely get a dark blonde hair dye, light brown will actually go dark brown, ime with box dyes
