Place marking

Thanks, Nauticant.

Placemarking for today (and this weeks) battle of the lawyers.

DanielGault · 11/06/2024 10:00

This guy is very slippery 🙄

nauticant · 11/06/2024 10:01

Robinson KC: I didn't see this case as involving any political issues. Purely civil litigation.

His evidence contradicts MacLeod's contemporaneous written account. It looks like he's going to weasel his way through the morning. Not a promising start.

Mr De Garr Robinson is getting on my nerves already, and he hasn't even said anything yet.

I wish he would sit up sstraight and stop swinging on his chair.

nauticant · 11/06/2024 10:02

Completely run-if-the-mill litigation. Nothing unusual to see here.

nauticant · 11/06/2024 10:07

Robinson was closely involved with Andrew Parsons of Bond Dickinson in his work.

Robinson trying to rush through this section. He doesn't want Jason Beer to take him to carefully through these points.

DanielGault · 11/06/2024 10:13

Oh it's awkward 😁

nauticant · 11/06/2024 10:17

Flat denial from Robinson that there was any discussion about Gareth Jenkins.

Well, blow me down. He put his finger on pretty much all the relevant questions within a week or so. But then presumably the soft-soaping operation swung into action big-time…..

Peregrina · 11/06/2024 10:17

Yes, the same dissembling going on.

Quebeccles · 11/06/2024 10:20

This might come in handy btw

Robinson said that the continual "failures" of disclosure by Post Office in the litigation was "maddening".

Is there a bottle of vodka to go with that 😁

Exactly!

I'm quickly reading Andrew Parsins responses in red and the unprofessionalism is off the scale.

Surely for an incredibly intelligent KC, the alarm bells should have been ringing for De Garr Robinson

There has been so much 'that was nothing to wiv me guv' in the bits I've seen from people who were/are so highly paid and allegedly intelligent. It's scary to think they can play dumb now.

nauticant · 11/06/2024 10:25

Apparently, the instructions from Post Office and their solicitors led him to inadvertently mislead the court on a number of occasions and he described having to go through this, including having to grovel before the court, as being "horrifying".

After that comment he expressed doubt that the "failures" of disclosure were "errors".

OP posts:
nauticant · 11/06/2024 10:28

Ahh, in his witness statement he blamed Fujitsu for various failings but has just admitted that this was on the basis of what Post Office and their solicitors had told him and he'd not checked this separately.

Peregrina · 11/06/2024 10:29

De Garr Robinson and Jason Beer are both KCs so both senior barristers. Would you know from Robinson's answers, err, err um, waffle, waffle.

DanielGault · 11/06/2024 10:29

His posture really is so disrespectful. Shocking under the circumstances.

nauticant · 11/06/2024 10:35

For all of Robinson's weaseling, I do like his formulation: "I've been reconstructing rather than directly recollecting".
