To really dislike Kerry Katona and her useless parenting skills?

I used to feel sorry for Kerry and all the bad things I read in the press as we all know that what the papers say can be a load of old rubbish but on a number of occasions I've been unfortunate to catch the MTV show which basically follows her in her daily life at home (very exciting, I know) and I've grown to really dislike her.

First thing is she had this huge bump (carrying her latest baby) and had a cigarette in her mouth. Fair enough, it's up to her if she puts her own health at risk, but her baby's life too? That is bloody irresponsible and selfish!

I don't know where her 2 eldest kids are, as they are never on the program (maybe ex has custody of them?) but that little baby, Heidi, never seems to see her parents. She is always dumped with the nannny! I know this program is a tiny snippet of their lives but really, Heidi is NEVER around Kerry or the babies dad/Kerry's husband...think he's called Mark?

I've seen a few episodes of her show. She often seems quite depressed really. I don't think her hubby Mark comes across too badly, but their bickering is a bit immature - I'd never tell dh to shut his face!!
re her other kids, I get the feeling they are there sometimes but their dad didn't want them to be filmed?
Heidi does seem to be with the nanny a lot though.

the 2 girls dad (brian mcfadden) has told kerry they are not allowed to be filmed

but she is an abismal mother i dont know why she has had those children and the even consider bringing another one into the world is crazy...

i used to quite like her but after watching the series i cannot stand her its a good job she can afford to pay someone to look after the kids because she is clearly not capable...

Mum of the year. Twice apparently. Hmmm!

mrsleroyjethrogibbs · 07/04/2008 22:38

the mum of the year thing is terrifying

ElfOnTheTopShelf · 07/04/2008 22:43

There was an article in Now the other week showing Bryan on hols with the two girls (4 and 6 I think) and Delta. Was looking at all the nice family pics and then wondered why they were in prams?!

Elf I saw those pics too, and wondered the same thing! the eldest girl must be 6.

handlemecarefully · 07/04/2008 22:51

I haven't seen the programme (nor I am ever likely too) but I wouldn't form judgements on people's parenting skills unless I saw them frequently on a first hand basis - unedited and uncut

madamez · 07/04/2008 22:51

If I can be arsed to think about it at all I think that the people making films about the wretched girl are probably more contemptible, exploiting someone who is basically not very bright for no good reason.

ElfOnTheTopShelf · 07/04/2008 22:52

I wondered whether I was a bad mother because I let my two and a half year old walk everywhere, or if his is out of touch!

Greensleeves · 07/04/2008 22:52

agree madamez. Also similar coverage of Jade Goody and her ilk. It's no better than bear baiting, it's just cruel and unworthy.

VeniVidiVickiQV · 07/04/2008 22:53

YABU

lemonstartree · 07/04/2008 23:09

she is a car crash, its sad. I feel very sorry for her, but much sadder for her poor blameless children.

Cant hate her, she is too pathetic. She needs a mother to love her unconditionally and set some boundaries for her, But its prob too late.

YABU to hate her I thin, but not at at all to be by her behaviour.

edam · 07/04/2008 23:14

Didn't KK grow up in care? So presumably hasn't had a very good role model for motherhood.

Agree with Madamez and Greensleeves. I'd rather save my scorn for the people who are making money out of exploiting the misery of, for instance, Britney Spears.

gingernuts · 08/04/2008 16:01

mmm

AitchTwoOh · 08/04/2008 16:16

bears are not amply financially rewarded for being baited.

chrissnow · 08/04/2008 16:34

Just to throw myself into the pit here . . . I agree totally ref KK. But I actually think Katie Price is a good mom. (I actually quite like her)
Britney is quite clearly a very troubled young lady and needs help.

Enid · 08/04/2008 16:36

I agree that KK and KP are no role models. but I feel very sorry for Kerry Katona.

she must be surrounded by some really horrible weak people. she is clearly quite ill and not very clever.

suey2 · 08/04/2008 16:43

i don't understand why she has a career. What is so extraordinary about her? Why do iceland pay her so much money? Why does she have a column in OK? I don't get it.

Saveme · 08/04/2008 16:45

chrissnow, just what exactly is it about Katie Price's parenting skills that inspire you with admiration?

I have to say, I have no idea what she is like as a parent other than the snippet I saw of her TV show when her eldest son told someone to "fuck off" and her and Peter Andre fell about laughing.

FAWKEOFF · 08/04/2008 16:47

i think KK has problems stemming back from early childhood...her new husband is a money grabbing scuzz ball IMO....she needs professional help, i dont hate her but i have a feeling her children may grow up disliking her, to say she had a bad childhood i would have thought she wanted to be a good mother for her own kids....she is defiantely needy and must me money mad to agree to do a show like this

LadyOfWaffle · 08/04/2008 16:48

I was coming to say "yes" as you don't know her, but fag in mouth while pregnant is a hard fact. I have no time for people like that. Carry on.

expatinscotland · 08/04/2008 16:50

Last I heard, Kerry wasn't doing interviews for free or for charity. Erm, she's making money out of it all. Not just 'the media'.

jesuswhatnext · 08/04/2008 16:54

i'm with you vic/squal - never judge another mother too harshly, you have no idea what the future may bring
