This covid merry-go-round is never going to end, is it

covid again, oxygen monitors again, off work again, informing all vulnerable contacts again, feeling terrible again. I have had 8 immunisations. Well, at least it isn't anything like as bad as it could be without immunisations. But this is never going to end, is it. Every year, at least 2 immunisations, and at least 2 illnesses, until the one that finishes me off , I suppose. That is without counting the disruption when someone else tests positive, instead of me.

yes, I wear a mask, on public transport and in shops, but that isn't really going to help much, it doesn't stop the virus getting on my skin, in my eyes, etc. It is probably better than not wearing a mask though

It isn't necessarily as it can increase you touching your face to adjust it

Luck?

Luck of staying indoors a lot. My friend never had Covid but she probably left her house no more than 10 times last year.
She was calling her lucky until her son started school. Sick every 2 weeks.

"Dr" John Campbell is not a doctor, or a scientist, or a statistician. They have a PhD in educational media for nurses. Some of the conspiracy theorists they quote are so totally wrong in their numbers, statistics and theories that it is laughable - most famously the "expected deaths" given in one video, which is lower than the number of deaths in any year in England since records began 200 years ago! And when challenged about anything, his stock response was, "well, I am not a statistician, or a scientist"

I don't know what that person I am ignoring is currently saying, but quoting anything from this person, as they did earlier, is indisputable proof of talking bollox.

At first it seems inexplicable that somebody can start off making sensible videos then switch to utter batshit conspiracy stuff. But the answer is simple -now that covid had slipped down the news agenda, he can get more views, hence more money from peddling antivax conspiracy bollocks

Covid is airborne, so even if she touches her face, it's still better for her to wear a mask than not.

I dont know if this will help anyone, it is a meta data presentation by impartial objective statistics publisher, and shows quite clearly that without vaccine you are 5-10 times more likely to die from covid. Even as time progresses, you are still far more likely to die without the vaccine, although you do start to benefit from the herd immunity as so many other people around you are vaccinated. It only goes up to August 2023, but there are lots of other sources that show similar. It covers many countries, many age groups, and millions of data pieces. I dont really expect the conspiracy theorists to be swayed by actual data though....

https://ourworldindata.org/covid-deaths-by-vaccination

If you watch the below LIVE broadcast (not prerecorded) Dr Boz explains how people in the control group were able to switch to the unvaccinated group which is completely unheard of in a clinical trial. Dr Boz goes on to say that due to emergency use legislation, these trials were able to break absolutely every rule with regards to trials. This had never happened until now. That's why they needed new "emergency powers" legislation.

Surely you realise that virus are subatomic and can pass through 95% of blue face masks? This has been proven multiple times.

Also blue face masks have now been shown to contain massive amounts of micro plastics which cause illness. That's why I didn't use the masks.

I fail to see how someone could make "more" money when switching to an allegedly fringe conspiracy bollocks as you put it. Surely more money would be available in the most prevailing narrative. Unless vaccine hesitancy is the overwhelming majority of the discourse?

Yes, you are very intelligent and we are just sheep. Thank you for educating us, oh wise Rationalmum. What a shame you were not in charge during covid.

buffyslayer · 11/06/2024 11:57

Yeah one day I was 33, and fine
The next I'm getting a phone call at night that my bloods are deranged and to go straight to haematology

Perhaps you could share the year that all your health issues begun to help rule out what the root cause was?

Everyone is in charge if they so choose.

Of their own health.

sixtyandsomething · 11/06/2024 13:35

Thanks again, for the kind, sympathetic helpful people who have posted, I know that bonkers one is still posting, but I am just sliding my eyes over any post with that name and not taking in a word.

Wow. What an inspiration you are.

I guess i should go back in time and tell people dying in my ITU back in 2020. Thanks!

She questioned it, not stated it.

Nobody should be taking medical advice of randomers off the Internet, thats on them. But chat forums are for chatting. 'Oh I wonder if xyz could happen....'

Unclench about someone on the internet being wrong, fgs!

I’m not clenched. I just think it’s acceptable to think it’s laughable. That’s all. You sound angrier than me and I’m actually someone (much like @sixtyandsomething) who is immunocompromised and has to listen to randomers questioning medical advice.

buffyslayer · 11/06/2024 14:02

@Rationalmum 2016 I was diagnosed

Unbelievable! 😂
You know people are born with all sorts of diseases and syndrome and conditions, many of which are spontaneous.

buffyslayer · 11/06/2024 14:05

Probably should add I likely had it from 2008 but it was missed for a good few years
So no, not covid related, not vaccine related, it's a rare autoimmune condition that less than 1 in a million adults have

I am sure all the people I’ve worked with who’ve had traumatic brain injuries from car accidents or similar would truly inspired to hear this.

buffyslayer · 11/06/2024 14:06

Oh I missed being in charge of my own health
Guess you can just stop yourself getting a thyroid issue or cancer or a rare random disease then
I'll tell haematology. Mine doesn't even have a cure

Monks75 · 11/06/2024 14:09

I honestly don’t know when the penny will drop with some people…

Yes I am aware of that. I was asking the question in the broader context of the pandemic timeline.

Coffeeinsunshine · 11/06/2024 14:09

'Everyone is in charge of their own health'
To a degree, there are things people can do. Say someone in charge of their health goes for a smear, or a baby is taken for an immunisation, or a pregnancy scan, or blood pressure checks, or a meds review, or an asthma checkup etc etc - should their risk of contracting something be as high? Should they knowingly be seen by someone with a contagious illness that can seriously harm? Is that the best use of money? Is that the most sensible option? Should people - especially vulnerable people - be treated that way?

Rationalmum · 11/06/2024 14:09

Why? There is no suggestion of every illness being linked to Covid.

I think you are just a tiny bit clenched.

You can ALWAYS question authority.

It is the duty of public health officials to explain, explain and explain again no matter how many times they've said it. Prove themselves trustworthy, over and over again.

Coercion, dismissal and authoritarian tactics always produce backlash, its as predictable as sunrise. You can apply it to any sphere in life you like.

(I say that too as someone who was severely immunocompromised at the time. Thankfully not now. )
