To be irritated to death by Rob Beckett on Radio 2?

I don't. However I've had him forced on me at someone's house. I really don't care what listeners have got in their oven.

Yeah, I completely agree. He leaves me cold, along with Josh Widdecome. Both have ruined many a panel show imo.

I find it.. ironic? irritating? that they culled middle aged men (Steve Wright, Simon Mayo, Ken Bruce) and replaced them with slightly younger, infinitely less appealing middle aged men (Vernon, Rob, Paddy, Romesh, Scott). I was not a fan of SW or KB, but god they were a million times more listen-to-able than this new horde.

And Paddy Mcguinnes earlier was dreadful

Yes. Not my cup of tea at all. The contrast between him and Johnny Walker before him is astounding. So many presenters make it all about them, somehow. I miss Graham Norton.

I’ve given up on radio2 in the past couple of years. I generally listen to LBC these days. I quite enjoy Rob Beckett on his sky show with Romesh but can well believe that he isn’t suited to radio. It seems like a lot of the presenters on BBC Radio can’t just be radio DJs that have risen through the ranks, they now pick them from comedy.

Was gutted when realised Michael Ball not doing his show. I have spent many a Sunday listening to him. Love songs not for me and don't think I can face Paddy McGuiness😓

I don't mind Vernon although I do miss Ken but I couldn't get on with GHR and the bloody adverts.

You can keep all the rest though except for Tony Blackburn on Saturday morning, he's the only one I listen to at the weekend.

The batch you mentioned first are all real DJs. The rest aren't other than Vernon Kay and Scott Mills. I don't want comedians presenting radio shows like this unless it's a comedy show.

I’ve moved on from Radio 2 … the new wave of DJs don’t seem to know much about music, or even like it that much.
The current recruitment process seems to be “find a comedian, offer them a job, regardless of actual radio ability”

McGuiness is neither a comedian, presenter or DJ … so why he got a job is beyond me ..

I'm pleasantly surprised by Romesh. His comedy style is so (hilariously) negative but he comes across as really warm and lovely on his radio show.

I don't mind Rob, it's quite light hearted and funny. Romesh is a great replacement for Claudia and Michael Ball has made Love Songs his own.

But I completely agree with you about Rob Beckett. Great comedian but too monotone with bursts of fake cheeriness as a radio DJ.

I enjoy listening to Jeremy Vine, Tony Blackburn and Romesh Ranganathan. Strongly dislike many other presenters. Sara Cox makes me want to rip the radio out of my car, smash it into pieces and stab myself in the ear with one of the pieces.

I enjoy getting a break from Gary Davies tbh. I miss more R2 shows than listen to them these days because he's always bloody on. I find him just unbearable.

I'm OK with Gary Davies except for that Deja Woooooh thing he keeps on doing sitting in for Vernon.

I had to switch off last week as he just kept on saying it.

Rob Beckett is dreadful, what were they thinking of on Radio 2? And Paddy McGuinness on Sunday morning is nearly as bad. Then there's Rylan on Saturday afternoons, which is really scraping the bottom of the barrel!

R2 goes off for me on Saturday at 10 unless I feel I can listen to Romesh (about 50/50 so far), back on for Johnny Walker then off till Monday morning. I do only listen when I'm driving so it's quite good just having silence on some trips.
