To be irritated to death by Rob Beckett on Radio 2?

I've not got children so I wouldn't listen to that. I'm talking about his Radio 2 show that I don't listen to. I heard it today at someone's house though.

I quite like most of the presenters at the moment, but I’m in my 30s so am less into the old guard… I like Sara Cox, Romesh, Scott mills, Rylan, and Dermot… I think paddy mcguiness is awful.
Rob Beckett I like as a comedian but agree he doesn’t work as well on radio.

To think that Paul O' Grady was replaced by Rob Beckett!!! He's dreadful and so is Paddy McGuiness.
I have also been pleasantly surprised by Romesh.
Sara Cox, Rylan, Vernon, Gary Davies, Liza Tarbuck all great.

I find Rob, Vernon and Rylan all sound like they are trying way too hard to sound lovely and it's not natural.
Rob just sounds panicked and awkward as hell.
I don't really get why radio 2 is so obsessed with the it's all about the listeners thing.
I like Sara Cox but when she's having to chat to listeners going on and on and pretend she or anyone else gives two shits,it's painful.
I'm radio 4 and 6 now almost entirely neither patronise me nor other listeners.

Ken Bruce wasn’t culled, it was his choice to leave to go to Greatest Hits radio.

Also, Scott Mills has been a DJ for over 25 years, since he was at uni! They haven’t just brought him in, they just moved him over from radio 1

Unfunny to the point of sounding like a small child reading Xmas cracker jokes

Not quite sure about Rob Becket. I don’t think it’s live is it? Pre-recorded? I wonder if it kind of misses the spontaneity aspect because of that - whereas Romesh IS live and he’s settled in nicely already.

Must admit that I love Rylan's show too.

Probably because he has a BBC contract and they have cancelled his other shows... Top Gear, A Question Of Sport, Catcbpoint and I Can See Your Voice... 🤯 🤯

Rob Beckett is good on TV (imo) crap on Radio

I was a massive R2 listener but can hardly listen to it now.
The only saving grace is Garry Davis, Lisa Tarbuck and Michael Ball but the rest, I tune into somewhere else now.☹️

Luckily I have all of the Janet & John CD's so I can get my fix of the broadcasting god that was Wogan!😁

I don't understand why Radio 2 keep going with celebrities. Surely they must be some talent on local radio just waiting for an opportunity to come up.

Where did simon mayo go to? I loved him on R2. I like the old style of DJ....ken bruce etc

@ssd Simon Mayo has gone to Greatest Hits Radio, same with Ken Bruce. I’ve tried it a few times but I just can’t cope with the adverts, it’s such a shame. I think you can pay premium to get a no ads version but I can’t bring myself to do that either.
