So we went out for a lovely afternoon waffle at the fabulous waffle house in St Michaels (St Albans). We don't go out much so it was a real treat.

Middle aged almost (mid 50's) couple next to us - him in burberry jacket, Hackett scarf and shirt. Her with £800 quid Chloe bag.

They were on the table next to us and came in the same time. They kept saying how lovely it was and how quick the service was. They had virtually the same as us. Their bill came to £16 - they paid with a twenty. They kept the change. The bloke said what about a tip. The woman said "that'll do, she's only young".

When they left they put 40p on the table for the waitress

Scottishmummy, 60% approx of calls on night duty are men masturbating.

I was kind of being funny and serious, didn't quite come off clearly

That's what A/C is for, Tutter .

Besides, my idea of hot is very hot - 35+ degrees with corresponding humidity.

At last, I have found out where these Cotswolds are!

misdee · 06/04/2008 21:23

oh oh i went to harpenden the other week, for a couple of mins to pick soemthing up, and must go back to look around properly.

misdee · 06/04/2008 21:24

BreeVanDerCampLGJ · 06/04/2008 21:24

Bookeeper

Not at all, I have with an other member of staff, chatted to someone in work until they decided to be a Samaritan.

I and another member of staff , know she is a Samaritan.

She does not feel the need to bray about it.

Tutter · 06/04/2008 21:25

i went to seville once

it was too hot to do anything

expatinscotland · 06/04/2008 21:26

I'd take it over any place in the UK any time of the year, though, Tutter.

It's the humidity that is what makes it hard to do anything.

southeastastra · 06/04/2008 21:26

the waffle house is right near the park misdee.

i went to harpenden on tuesday, usually only go only at night. the high street was boring unless you're very rich i suppose.

berkhampstead is very poncey too

snowleopard · 06/04/2008 21:26

Oh come on. I'm not a designer handbag person AT ALL and would never buy one but there are a few I could recognise - probably because I read the odd magazine and newspaper.

I happen to agree with the OP's anger at people being both rich and mean (she has said repeatedly she's not objecting to wealth in itself).

But even if I didn't, I can't understand why she's been vilified for daring to notice someone's handbag. I like a bit of people-watching, I often notice that kind of stuff. It never occurred to me for a second that that might suggest I'm jealous and unhappy with my lot. That just seems mad.
