Do you still use cash?

Just had a discussion with my DH about this and am wondering which of us is in the minority in the world of Mumsnet.

YABU: I still use cash and make sure I always have some on me

YANBU: I barely ever / never use cash

I freeze bread because we are a 2 person household, it would go mouldy quicker than we could eat it otherwise. And I hate food waste.

There are places where you have to pay by phone? I've only come across a QR code 'honesty box' and I didn't need an extra app, unless I didn't have QR reader on the camera app. I have a cheap smartphone.

At an event in London. I rarely go to such things. So it was an unpleasant surprise to have to pay by a phone app for some beer and chips. Like for real? Or am behind with life?

I think it's about as likely as the first be shop within 10 miles having a breakdown that means you can't pay by card or phone 🤷‍♀️!

How did zombie apocalypse come up? Needn't be 10 miles. If you have a child and have walked a mile, then the other shop is two miles the other way then that could be too far. I have family who are 5 miles from the nearest shop.

@S0livagant ok 5 miles then, I was just repeating the high drama of someone saying they know someone who is 10 miles from another shop, that may take card.
