Garlic Twist
Pampered Chef tin opener.

I also use to own an onion chopper that was really good at chopping onions really finely. It broke and I haven't got round to replacing it yet. Every time I chop onions I remind myself to get another! It was like this one but it had a small bowl on the top instead of the bottom.

I have one of these and stopped using it because of all the bits taking up valuable drawer space and dishwasher space. Also the lid was a pain to clean and dried onion or whatever got stuck in the hashed bit.
Good idea, but in practice by the time you've put it together to use and prepared the onion for finer chopping (cos you can't put it in whole), you could have just used a knife.

I have a manual chopper like this. Can chop an onion with three pumps. Haven’t diced an onion in years.

I've got various sheets of this rubbery, grippy stuff. My hands are v. wonky and this magic stuff helps you open jars and bottles with your palm. Also keeps your mixing bowl still on the worktop. Also, a £9 rice cooker from Asda which is now in its tenth year of service.

Katemax82 · 01/06/2024 23:58

My slow cooker..my last one broke and my chillie and lasagne wasn't anywhere near as good..I went a month before replacing it. I've got shakshuka in there now for tomorrow's breakfast

CountingCrones · 02/06/2024 00:11

Le Creuset enamel casserole pot with a lid. I've had it 31 years.

Yes, it's heavy, but it's a true workhorse. On the hob or in the oven it always heats evenly, things only stick to it when I've cocked something up dreadfully, and it cleans up perfectly after a soak with bicarb.

I actually have two, because my dad finds his too heavy for his arthritic wrists now he's in his eighties. My kids have claimed dibs for one each when I shuffle off this mortal coil.

Bread maker. I have a basic Panasonic (no nut dispenser). Use it every day for bread. But also for jam, pizza dough, cakes, risotto. Keeps me out of the shops midweek and the bread is lovely. I rotate between 3 regular loaves, but dabble with others as well.

LaWench · 02/06/2024 00:29

Love a gadget. The one we use everyday is the ninja foodi to airfry, rice/ pasta cooker and pressure cooker.

Love our electric egg poacher, got it at wilkos and haven't seen a replacement for when it eventually dies. Easy breakfast.

Just got a bread maker, soup maker and ice-cream maker from FB marketplace. I use them all, mainly make dough in the breadmaker for wholemeal rolls, better than a loaf as I can freeze them until needed, always fresh. Pizza nights have been an absolute success with fresh dough. The soup maker is very lazy but works so well. The homemade ice cream is incredible, so delicious with only 4 ingredients.

Got to be pressure cooker.

Use it every day. As a big pot for boiling pasta, cooking curry, pasta sauce, soups etc, but can also steam vegetables, poach a whole chicken, pot roast meats in around half an hour rather than hours on the hob.

A tiny, carbon steel frying pan that fits one egg. I use it almost every day, think it’s because it doesn’t feel like a drag to clean it

I have a small cast iron pan perfect for frying 1 or 2 eggs. From a charity shop about 25 years ago. Good for spices too. It's my fav bit of kitchen kit.

Also love my instant pot pro crisp - pressure cooker/air fryer combo.

FussyPud · 02/06/2024 00:49

The cheap rice cooker I got from Asda years ago. I can make decent rice in a pan, but I can just abandon the rice cooker and still get good rice.

A dinky chopper that uses a pull cord like a sort of bladed salad spinner. It makes short work of everything I put into it, and hasn’t baulked at being put in the dishwasher. Was a fiver in tackymax.

The instant pot gets a fair bit of use, the pressure and slow cooking modes mostly.

My beautiful light blue Brabantia Touch bin. It is nearly 20 years old and looks beautiful. The catch has broken three times and each time Brabantia sent me free replacements. I use bog standard bin liners. I adore it!

hulahooper2 · 02/06/2024 01:52

masha , an electric potato masher

SlothsNeverGetIll · 02/06/2024 02:38

Our Sage bean-to-cup coffee machine. I go to bed at night looking forward to my morning coffee because its THAT good.

SavingTheBestTillLast · 02/06/2024 02:43

Krups coffee grinder
dualit blender
bread machine

SavingTheBestTillLast · 02/06/2024 02:48

My sons use the Breville smoothly maker every day.
It’s been a Real winner

sashh · 02/06/2024 04:04

I have arthritis so my food processor helps a lot. I also have an electric tin opener.

But the game changer is a damascus steel knife a friend brought me from Japan.

evilharpy · 02/06/2024 04:34

Aeropress is top of the list
New Indesit induction hob which is AMAZING, I used to think I didn't like induction hobs but I was so wrong
This exact potato peeler
Ninja duo (the larger one), rarely turn the oven on now

marmaladeandpeanutbutter · 02/06/2024 04:43

My food processor.
Microplane grater
Sharp vegetable knives
Heavy bottom stainless steel pans, which have lasted for ever
Digital probe thermometer

Food mixer/cake mixer thing a waste of money, though.
