How often do you hoover your stairs?

Boring question alert🚨

I probably do it once every 2 weeks. Have a cordless Shark but still too cumbersome/annoying a job.

We have a dog. Hoover daily downstairs but can never muster the strength do stairs that often.

Every couple of days, it doesn’t take me long though so I may not be doing that thorough a job 😂

I don’t have stairs. It’s one of the many many joys of living in a flat

Came here to say the same!

SloaneStreetVandal · 01/06/2024 20:24

We have one dog. If you're genuinely vacuuming your carpets daily, then your (carpeted) stairs shouldn't need vacuumed terribly often 🤔 Once a fortnight does mine, and I pick up very little when I do them (because I sweep floors/vacuum all the other carpets daily).

TrickyD · 01/06/2024 20:28

Never. DH does it when he thinks stair carpet could do with a clean.

Shodan · 01/06/2024 20:29

Nowhere near often enough, unfortunately.

Stupid Vax pet hair vacuum cleaner is ridiculously unwieldy. I have, however, bought a little rechargeable doodad which will hopefully do the job better and more easily so I'll do the stairs more often.

AllPrincessAnneshorses · 01/06/2024 20:31

I don't. DH does all the hoovering cos it's one of his jobs. He does it when he thinks it needs doing.

Kazziek · 01/06/2024 20:37

I last did mine at Christmas

Crunchymum · 01/06/2024 20:40

My childhood house was a tall, skinny townhouse with almost 60 stairs. It was a nightmare chore and we used to split it between us siblings. We'd do it probably bi-monthly. Before we were old enough to do it, my folks used to flip coins to see who would end up with that odious chore.

Low and behold I ended up in a (not as tall) top floor maisonette with 28 stairs. I managed to live in several places with very few stairs before this place though.

I do the stairs once a week (3 kids and two cats. Carpeted stairs for half the house, wooden stairs the other half) but my oldest DC is finally old enough to take up the mantle and I pay him £5 a week. I do all the rooms, he just does the stairs.

Aria999 · 01/06/2024 20:41

When they start looking like they need it plus a short while for me to work up the energy.

Our house has 60 stairs, some of them spiral, and it takes forever.

Once every 2 months

That makes me feel better 😃

RM2013 · 01/06/2024 20:44

Every week sometimes more often. We try to take shoes off before going upstairs and the dog stays downstairs

Sdpbody · 01/06/2024 20:44

Daily! I'm obsessed with hoovering. My autism cannot deal with bits on the floor.

imnotthatkindofmum · 01/06/2024 20:46

Once a month. I hate it. It needs doing weekly but I don't want to. I use a scraper first as I have a fluffy cat. That's why I should be doing it weekly. No other fucker does it either.

LindorDoubleChoc · 01/06/2024 20:46

YABU.

mumpenalty · 01/06/2024 20:46

Once a week. No shoes or food allowed upstairs and not pets, so it’s really just a bit of dust/fluff that collects. If there was any visible dirt I’d do it more, but they don’t get grimy.

Chypre · 01/06/2024 20:49

Once a week, along with whole of the upstairs. No dogs or shoes allowed upstairs or on the stairs.

Viewfrommyhouse · 01/06/2024 20:51

Once a week when the cleaner does it. We have cats but they can't get upstairs.

Tereseta · 01/06/2024 20:52

About 4 times a year....I hate doing the stairs!

FormerlySpeckledyHen · 01/06/2024 21:00

Only two of us, out a lot, no pets, striped carpet doesn’t show the bits, so every blue moon, or if visitors are coming.

PartnersInCrime · 01/06/2024 14:51

Once a week. Pet and shoe free house.

Same

MerelyPlaying · 01/06/2024 22:53

Hateful job. About once a fortnight but it should really be more often as I have two cats (one long-haired). Use a rubber brush or a scraper if I can be bothered and then vacuum up the fluff.

I love my Shark Liftaway but it’s not great for this - seriously tempted to get a handheld just for stairs.

New darker carpet coming next week, hurrah. There will be NO shoes upstairs then!

Very sensible. I had a brain fart when I chose the carpets for my new house and got grey/beige carpet. Ffs I have a black fluffy cat! What was I thinking! I'd probably hoover them even less if the carpet was dark. I have 2 sets of stairs as well 🤦🏻‍♀️

TubeScreamer · 02/06/2024 08:57

2/3 times a week

it should be daily but I don’t have the time or inclinstion

2 hairy dogs
