How often do you hoover your stairs?

Boring question alert🚨

I probably do it once every 2 weeks. Have a cordless Shark but still too cumbersome/annoying a job.

We have a dog. Hoover daily downstairs but can never muster the strength do stairs that often.

Never, the DH does it 👍🏼

InTheRainOnATrain · 01/06/2024 15:10

2-3 times week. It’s the only thing I do outside of the weekly cleaner but we painted them white underneath the runner for some stupid reason and now they show every single spec of dirt.

Lilacdew · 01/06/2024 15:12

When we have guests. Grin Which means roughly once a week.

lechatnoir · 01/06/2024 15:14

Most days as it's a real bug-bear of mine plus totally impractical cream carpet with dog, cats & teenage boys!! I have a Dyson hand held that pretty much lives on the bottom step so it's always to hand. I'd also like to get one for our top floor (town house so 4 flights Shock) but first flight is the worst for bits so rest just get done with the weekly hoover

spiderlight · 01/06/2024 15:16

Maybe once every ten days or so, but I de-hair them several times in between with a little hair removal thingy.

2chocolateoranges · 01/06/2024 15:16

I hoover all of upstairs once a week including the stairs.

however I hoover downstairs each morning as we have a cat and it hoovers up the excess hair.

mrsbyers · 01/06/2024 15:17

Lovely cleaner does them once a fortnight

Vroomfondleswaistcoat · 01/06/2024 15:17

Maybe once a month? If that?

But I have a downstairs bathroom and the stairs are closed off behind a door that stays shut unless I'm going up there (to bed, usually, unless I have to pop up to fetch something), so the staircase doesn't get a great deal of wear.

The landing (where the dog sleeps) on the other hand...

LeggyLinda · 01/06/2024 15:27

Not regularly enough. We are owned by a cat that loves to rub herself on the stairs. At least every other day we vacuum them. Tried sharks and Dyson pet specific hoovers. End up using a brush. Nothing else cleans them properly

whyhavetheygotsomany · 01/06/2024 15:27

😴

TheHorneSection · 01/06/2024 15:30

2 to 3 times a week, kids and two cats mean they seem filthy (it’s a light grey carpet I would never have chosen myself too…)

Old house was about once a month and they were in a state, but I’m trying to be better in this new place as I feel better when they have vaguely clean. Have a cordless hoover that I can just grab and do stairs and landing in 5 mins so it doesn’t feel like a big job.

bilgewater · 01/06/2024 15:40

No pets, no shoes, just me, DH and adult DD living in the house. Much-hated job but our cleaner does them once a week. Not sure where all the crumbs, dust and bits of thread come from, but they keep on coming...

gocompare · 01/06/2024 15:47

I have dogs that get hair everywhere so I have to do it every coupon of days.

BitOutOfPractice · 01/06/2024 15:49

I don’t have stairs. It’s one of the many many joys of living in a flat

DoritosFries · 01/06/2024 15:49

I hated living in a flat 🤣

TrudyMonk · 01/06/2024 15:55

Twice a week. We might be a no shoes house but DH and the DC have a love for annoyingly bitty sports socks which are black for school and work and the carpet is pale.

stayathomer · 01/06/2024 15:56

roughly once a week or when they look dodgy but am lucky that there’s not too many, they’re not steep and they’re wood so actually sometimes just sweep instead!

ManilowBarry · 01/06/2024 15:57

We have two of these on the go daily in between vacuuming.

So easy to use as you go up the stairs.

Daily or every other day I have two kids and a cat so I hover daily in my house.

Oh I love this post!
The image of you “hovering” in your house made me laugh. Is it a form of elevation that can be learned?

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 01/06/2024 15:59

2 or 3 times a week, cordless Dyson so nice and easy.

EBearhug · 01/06/2024 16:00

Fortnightly, but no pets and live alone. And the one visitor who comes upstairs isn't interested in the state of the stairs. I do have a hand held vacuum if I need to in between times, but that's usually by the garden door rather than the stairs.

RobinEllacotStrike · 01/06/2024 14:50

Not often.

Though I think about it every time I use them 🤓

This 😅

We live a townhouse so have two sets to do!

JacketPotatoFoodOfTheGods · 01/06/2024 16:53

Cleaner does it once a week.
I love her.

DaffydownClock · 01/06/2024 16:58

dutysuite · 01/06/2024 14:58

I used to do it every day but I have a shark vacuum and it’s SO heavy and really difficult to use on the stars, so I don’t do them often enough at the moment.

I have one too and I hate the damn thing.
I do ours every few days with a hand vac, DH does it with the Shark occasionally if I nag enough!

SharonEllis · 01/06/2024 17:15

Never. My partner does it about once every 3 weeks, after talking about it for over a week. Today was the day, coincidentally
