You know those little things in life that people like to morally police and make you feel guilty about but you just can't muster up the shit to give?

This is a confession thread. I'll start.

I don't give a shit that you supposedly shouldn't feed bread to ducks. I don't care. Don't eat it then. People have been feeding them bread for decades and now we're supposed to bring them organic bloody walnuts or something? Or some other crap they don't want that doesn't float?
They can have my slightly mouldy bread and be grateful.

Over to you.

Nah. Far more sensible that people who can’t accurately assess risk can bugger off home and use the loo.

When did we move to a society where rules were set by the most sensitive.

When 'the most sensitive' are the ones whose voices are loudest and who wield the greatest influence, clearly. It was ever the way. But these things ebb and flow. So, we will wait and see.

How many kids someone has. I have 1. Judge away. I won't be having anymore.

It's weird how you get judged for having one child. Some people will say well done, others come out with all manner of horrible shit. Like you, I don't care but the cheek of people! I doubt I'd get a great reception if I started lecturing child free people on their choices!

I totally get people’s worries about the whole trans men in women’s toilets thing because when you think of it as a free for all without challenge then it is concerning, but also on the other hand, make up and medical interventions are so good now there’s a fair chance we’ve all bumped into a trans man in a women’s space or otherwise and not even realised. Some of them I see online look like more of a woman than I do 🤣🤣🤣. It’s going to be very hard to actually police in the end anyway, beyond the obvious ones.

Well, your unconcern about the issue might be connected to the fact that you literally don't know what you're talking about here!

A trans man is a woman who thinks she's a man. She would be most displeased to hear she looked "more of a woman than you do".

Pandas.

They aren’t that bothered about continuing their own species so why should we care. They refuse to have sex with each other and have to eat about four times their own body weight per day. It’s unsustainable! Let them go extinct!

I agree, so do many of my vegan friends which seems to surprise lots people but really the whole point of the moral standing is about allowing nature to control it own populations not torturing animals through forcing breeding and that can also apply to 'saving' the panda.

We should ditch that waste effort and money and instead save animals that are being poached/hunted to death instead of dying off naturally.

ParrotsAteThemAll · 01/06/2024 09:35

There’s an alternative universe somewhere with ducks feeding humans chocolates. Right now on Hensnet there’s an argument going on with posters saying they love feeding humans chocolate and the humans love it, but angry human conservationists are saying the ducks are killing out the humans just because they like fat squishy humans. They say the ducks should be throwing cut up sprouts to the humans, one poster argues they try this but some selfish ducker always comes along with a large bar of Dairy Milk.

@BrickTraybake we have a duck pond down the road from us so during the pandemic we went regularly and I read Tinned peas were good for the ducks.
I told my wee lads and they were excited to feed them something different. It really is up the road from us so I let them run ahead, still in sight and I'd (stupidly) told my youngest we were feeding the ducks a "tin of peas", and watched as his older brother had to catch like saving a football at the world Cup a tin of peas being hurtled towards a unsuspecting mallard.
My little boy is autistic and took it so literally he didn't think he needed to wait for me to come and open the tin for him.
He just thought feeding them a tin of peas included the bloody tin 🙈

It's still a conversation in our home, "remember when little fella almost took out the duck with a tin of marrowfat?"

Also as a teenager I travelled a lot by train and in my then local station was a rat who everyone knew. He was massive and had no drama approaching the public for food. The station bins were plastic bags, the see through kind (I believe due to potential terror attacks) and this rat would chew through the bottom of the bags and retrieve burgers etc, I saw him once eat with both hands half of a big mac. I was chatty with the ticket lady who told me that sometimes people would bring him sausage rolls 😂
I had some of my friends over to mine (aged 18ish) for a few drinks before we went out into town and before we left I took a few cherry tomatoes and galaxy ripple for the rat so if he was out my pals could feed him. He wasn't there but I gave them to the ticket office who said he'd feed him them later, but he'd earlier ran off with a donner kebab so it would probably be tomorrow he'd be back 😂
I often wonder how old he lived to, he was so chunky his heart must have packed in at some point, all the stuff he ate.

This has all made me chuckle so much!! 😂

Beside the point I know, but feeding bread to ducks is actually fine - in the winter they really need the calories. Ideally wholemeal. Not mouldy though! (I know you don't care OP, just putting it out there...)

Personally I don't care about the state of my nails (hands or feet)

It’s not though. Bread offers birds not benefit - fills them up so they don’t look for real food and then they can for.

OP is clealry uneducated on this issue and proud of their casual disgrace for the animals well-being!

I thought she was going to say she doesn’t now her lawn or wash her car or iron her clothes! Rather than expose a significant character flaw🫣

Weddings. I hate them. Having to buy clothes and use up a weekend pretending I care that you have crafted your own table decorations and done something unusual with a wooden ladder. I hate having to hang around waiting for you to have photos taken while we are all staving hungry and bored, bored, bored. Spending more money on a present or being asked for cash so I'm guilted into giving more than I can afford. Especially when we all know the marriage won't last as he's cheated on you loads of times but you are in denial. I hate the ridiculousness of it when you already have kids but you are spending a small fortune on cars and churches. And it's even worse if you have to be a bridesmaid or a moh, just send your salary straight over and buy a pig ugly dress you will never wear again. Just stop acting like a fucking princess. No one cares about your wedding.

Don't go.
The bride and groom don't really want you there anyway.

Laurama91 · 01/06/2024 07:43

I've only read first page maybe this isntcabout ducks anymore 😂 but..... bread is like junk food for ducks. We feed bird seed and mealworms. They love it. You can also buy duck biscuits that float on water.

I VERY strongly suspect that those duck biscuits are no better than bread and are just cobbled together by people that want to make money out of the "you're a terrible person if you give bread to ducks" thing. And well done to those people for seeing the gap in the market.
But how many people are actually checking what's in these ducks biscuits and duck food? If they are honest are they not just buying them to feel better and less guilty and so they are not seen by the duck police?

This. I have two single colleagues who expect me to be interested and care about their various aliments. Really? Sorry you have sore feet, stomach, head. Have you tried raising two autistic kids who have never slept through the night? Responsibility and parenting just never stop for me so don't expect me to care about your aches and pains.

BlowDryRat · 01/06/2024 09:40

People denied boarding at the airport because their passport doesn't meet the Brexit rules. If they voted for Brexit then it serves them right. Otherwise, it's a shame they missed out because they're daft.

People who are stuck abroad with astronomical medical costs because they didn't buy any/proper travel insurance. More fool them.

Struggling dog shelters who insist on keeping hundreds of bitey/savage-looking dogs no one wants in cages so they go insane rather than doing the decent thing and PTS.

Space travel. Polluting waste of money. There's nothing interesting out there close enough to affect us in any way.

Healthy lunchbox rules.

It's not that I want my child to eat shit, but our school bans nuts, eggs, fish, cheese, pesto, sesame, yoghurts, avocado and various other things due to allergies.

I'm fine with that - they need to ensure the kids' safety and I get that. But then for the school to complain when I send my fussy eater with a jam penny, an apple and some carrot sticks is beyond me.

Yes, I'm well aware that his lunch doesn't have any protein. The reason being that the school have banned every protein source he might consider eating!

CandiedPrincess · 01/06/2024 09:42

Good lord are we still rumbling on about ducks? I wonder statistically how many ducks have been harmed from bread-eating during the length of this thread. My guess is a big fat fucking zero. And with that, I'm off to the park with my Warburtons.

But your voices aren’t the loudest, you’re just easy fodder for the Tories to try and placate

Just like how pensioners aren’t the loudest voices but the tories bend over backwards to appease them with public policy

Topofthemountain · 01/06/2024 09:43

This relates to me locally.

I do not care that the council have decided to charge for green waste collections and to go to fortnightly waste collection. I don't particularly care that the roll out of the scheme has not been as smooth as ideal. The way some locals are going on our streets will soon be running knee deep in waste.

One particular local councillor, in a very strange turn of events on a Facebook group, lay into me because I blamed the fly tipping on the individual who had fly tipped.

I told her I didn't care, she didn't like that answer.

Women (especially young women) actors/celebrities/influencers who think they are enhancing their appeal by employing "Vocal Fry"

I will switch off any programme or radio station , I do not want to hear it .

DH and I watched "Tarot" , one of the cast had Vocal Fry and I seriously wanted her to be the first one killed

It is not sexy
It does not make you sound like you have authority
It is Fucking Annoying .

Where McDonalds open a branch. Couldn’t give a shiny shit.

Huw Edwards\Philip Schofield

Using my car. I live in the middle of nowhere, using public transport adds hours to my journey. Until the infrastructure is sorted out I don’t want to hear about “alternatives”.

NettleTea · 01/06/2024 09:45

not read the whole thread as found it all a bit depressing.

But I imagine, just with the issues with processed food for humans, that bread isnt that great because its barely food nowdays. The bread fed to ducks for decades was probably home made home milled proper actual bread,

whereas now it has a huge amount of additives and bulking agents as although filling, is probably virtually devoid of nutrients.

And no I dont like other peoples babies. I quite like toddlers. I can be persuaded by a puppy or a kitten. My nails are in a state because I work with my hands and do stuff that gets mucky. I care about the environment and pollution and the shit in our rivers, land and sea, but I dont give a flying toss about any kind of celebrity hooha royal gossip, who did what with whom and why.

I do care about men in womens places and spaces, winning our prizes and taking jobs that have been created for us, to allow girls to level up in under represented spheres, and I equally am concerned about boys being fed really toxic ideas about what it is to be a 'man'

I dont give a shiny one about sport. of any kind really. I dont give a shit about 'patriotism' or 'stop the boats'.

I guess Im probably one of those awful lefty liberals
