You know those little things in life that people like to morally police and make you feel guilty about but you just can't muster up the shit to give?

This is a confession thread. I'll start.

I don't give a shit that you supposedly shouldn't feed bread to ducks. I don't care. Don't eat it then. People have been feeding them bread for decades and now we're supposed to bring them organic bloody walnuts or something? Or some other crap they don't want that doesn't float?
They can have my slightly mouldy bread and be grateful.

Over to you.

If the Brazilian government are determined to sell the rain forest off and let it be destroyed - we can’t stop them. It’s awful, sad, it’ll destroy us all in the end, but #notourforest

I do not give a shit about other people's children, the screen time of other people's children, the environment, ultra processed foods, everyone's desperation to be peri-menopausal and women's football.

I'm not desperate to be perimenopausal... I'd love to be the opposite! Having been perimenopausal for about 4 years now, I miss being able to get to my period without hormones causing even more havoc than they need to. Plus, having a whole range of symptoms from tinnitus, gingivitis and brain fog isn't something I'd ever had said were desirable. Give me just good old period pains any day 😳

This thread has made me realise I've never actually seen a dead duck. Where do they go? 🤔

Mmmmm, crispy duck.....😋

Get over yourself

That’s pretty horrible. Obviously not a light hearted thread if, as the OP, you take delight in confessing you don’t give a shit about living creatures and will actively harm them. Not a thread I’ll contribute to except to say is there an award for most unlikeable opening post.

Killing ducks doesn't faze you then?

I read that they are dying because in the winter people aren't feeding them bread anymore and they are struggling to find food. I'm pretty sure bread doesn't kill ducks anyway, people have been feeding them for decades.

The Royal Family
I honestly don't give a toss

When the Queen gave her heartfelt speech to all us NHS/Essential Workers in Covid it made no difference to me (NHS worker , out there in Covid ) The RF are a group of people with the best in Healthcare and never need to worry that they won't be able to pay for their boiler to be repaired or there is food on the table .
I sympathise with their health issues but it doesn't have me wailing .

JLou08 · 01/06/2024 08:24

I tried feeding the ducks at my local pond veg , they weren't interested. I went back to bread and see lots of others feeding them bread. There's a thriving community of ducks there. I've never seen a dead one.

I don't care about people's dreams unless they are maybe a sign from a loved one, otherwise I listen through it and just want to say at the end....but it's not real?? So it is pointless telling me, even though I tell mine sometimes 😅

Love this! I'm sure I'd find myself highly irritating in lots of ways too.

Bellevilles · 01/06/2024 08:18

To me it’s too explicitly “I want you to be like this”- child as repository for adult’s dreams and preferences.

I know we all do this a bit (my tasteful newborn outfits also signalled something) but the Ramones baby takes it to the next level- like patting yourself on the back for treating another human as your personal billboard.

Possibly I am overthinking it 😂

I get you but that's essentially what babies/ v young kids are like. They can't really make too many choices.. so if you see a cool t shirt etc, why not? Unless it's something particularly awful. We have a great pic of my daughter as a one year old in a spurs kit - she might give us some guff about that if she ever sees it 😂

I don't tip, I really don't care. Not my responsibility to prop other people's earnings.

I agree.

What is deeply annoying is when eating as a group and someone appoints themselves the chief of gathering a tip.

See also being on a coach trip and feeling forced to tip the driver - why??

This isn't America, all service staff get paid at least minimum wage. Why should someone on min wage themselves feel obliged to give some money to another person on min wage? It is utterly illogical.

If you want to fine but don't guilt others into doing it. Do yo tip everyone else who serves you on min wage? What about the young cashier at the corner shop - weird social constructs.

rollonretirementfgs · 01/06/2024 08:27

Yuck OP.

And how sanctimonious others are 🤷🏼‍♀️

Nails. I keep mine clean and neat by washing regularly and cleaning. I don’t understand at all why going to a nail parlour to have them gelled or faffed about with is in any way a grooming essential yet alone ‘attractive’

I am a researcher. I started an academic study about this. I had over 150 participants ( 90 female and 60 male). Majority of women thought that nail grooming was an important part of female attractiveness and defined this a regular (once a month or more) nail shaping and polishing. 0 % of men considered this as an important part of grooming. In fact we redesigned the study to see if men noticed this aspect of female grooming at all. We asked 279 men what they identified as attractive in a woman, using photos with manicured/un manicured women. Not one man noticed or cared what women’s nails looked like. None.

My nails are always cleaned and shaped but the idea that ‘manicured’ nails are attractive is totally constructed to gain customers. In RL men are not in the least interested or attracted to women who fuss about their nails.

An ‘academic study’ on whether blokes care about women’s manicures? I’ve heard it all now🤦🏻‍♀️ What a waste of time 🤣

Microblading = having a barcode tattooed on either side of your forehead.

And nobody ever think theirs is obviously not real eyebrows 😆

Totally sympathise and agree with you, it's crap BUT haven't you noticed every other menopause, women's health thread is basically, ooh my period is two hours late, can I be Peri? Or ooh my left nipple itched for 3 seconds, is this the start of Peri? Ooh I shouted at my husband because he sniffed, is this the start of Peri? Everyone is obsessed with getting HRT! Go away Davina!!!!!!!

The argument about feeding starving ducks bread in the winter..... most people aren't freezing their arses off throwing bread at a frozen lake. They're there in their droves in the summer, over feeding them and the bread ends up rotting at the bottom of the lake. That's even if it wasn't already mouldy in the first place 🙄 I'm forever having to prise bread from my dog's jaws that's furrier than she is.

Orangeoranges42 · 01/06/2024 08:33

Ducks like lettuce. I don’t like lettuce I like bread. Win win.

unless we share the same hobby I don’t care about yours.

Agreed. Davina and her HRT can get in the bin.
