You know those little things in life that people like to morally police and make you feel guilty about but you just can't muster up the shit to give?

This is a confession thread. I'll start.

I don't give a shit that you supposedly shouldn't feed bread to ducks. I don't care. Don't eat it then. People have been feeding them bread for decades and now we're supposed to bring them organic bloody walnuts or something? Or some other crap they don't want that doesn't float?
They can have my slightly mouldy bread and be grateful.

Over to you.

@Niceplaces Nope. We feed the ducks our leftover bread every day, so I will not be buying special duck food when there is nothing wrong with bread.

Also I never gave a shit about advertising my musical tastes on my child’s clothing. Your newborn is not a Ramones fan.

Aww, I think they're really cute! Obviously an indulgence for adults but isn't everything when you're dressing a baby?

Yogaandchocolate · 01/06/2024 08:07

Pigeons. Someone posted on our village facebook group the other day that they’d seen a “slightly unwell looking” pigeon in the street. Lots of responses asking for someone to please take it to a wildlife sanctuary, or to the local vets.

Tumbleweed101 · 01/06/2024 08:09

Sports, celebrities, popular culture. If I'm in a big group and conversation turns to these kind of things I just glaze over because it means nothing to me. I can't even put names to faces much of the time.

VaddaABeetch · 01/06/2024 08:10

Definitely getting nails done.
Eyebrows
Botox, Fillers

Don't you ever have men in your home?

Unless you continuously let let random strange men into your home to use your bathroom, that’s not really an accurate comparison, is it?

LadyWhistledownMarkTwo · 01/06/2024 08:10

👏 👏 👏 Boasting about feeding ducks the wrong type of food 🙄 Just don’t feed them FGS. Why show off your ignorance on a public forum?

PuppyMonkey · 01/06/2024 08:11

As this is really just a boring old unpopular opinions thread in disguise, I’ll add my usual post about gravy. Gravy is horrible. Or to phrase it correctly for this thread, I don’t give a shit about gravy.

*waits for deletion message.

I'm an environmental scientist, and trust me, it happens!

Not around here it doesn't.

Scruffily · 01/06/2024 08:01

Don't you ever have men in your home?

Good grief. Is that really the best you can come up with? Over a decade of arguing this, and still the best you can do is make a daft comparison between the presence of known men in the home and men you've never met before and know nothing about other than they have a desire to be in women's toilets?

Hoglet70 · 01/06/2024 08:13

I do not give a shit about other people's children, the screen time of other people's children, the environment, ultra processed foods, everyone's desperation to be peri-menopausal and women's football.

Otherstories2002 · 01/06/2024 08:14

trans nonsense. Seriously I don’t care. It’s the most embarrassing blip in history.

SeriaMau · 01/06/2024 08:15

XDownwiththissortofthingX · 31/05/2024 23:03

The environment.

I'm not going to be here by the time it becomes a debilitating issue, so meh, couldn't give a single shiny shite.

And your children?

Trishna99 · 01/06/2024 08:15

This thread has made me realise I've never actually seen a dead duck. Where do they go? 🤔

Niceplaces · 01/06/2024 08:10

In the second to last place I worked, the loos were unisex and open to the public. I never once felt unsafe there. The only time I had a toilet invasion was from a female classmate in my all girls school. I found that very distressing. It's just my own experience, and I don't want to get into any debates, but that's my experience.

Loveriver · 01/06/2024 08:16

I also don't care about the fact I may not have Grandchildren. A lot of women I work with are desperate for them.

TakeThePain · 01/06/2024 08:16

I don't care about my kids growing up and moving on.

My daughter is going to high school and I've had to mute the parents class WhatsApp, all the weeping and wailing is embarrassing.

NattyTurtle · 01/06/2024 08:18

Niceplaces · 01/06/2024 08:00

It actually isn’t. Ducks who live on bread live for about as fifth as long as ducks living on their natural food. It literally kills them as it fills their stomachs with nutrient poor food.

It is possible for ducks to eat a variety of other food as well as bread. How dim can people be if they think a duck in a park which is fed a bit of bread doesn't eat anything else? We really don't take along a whole loaf to feed one duck you know!

Trishna99 · 01/06/2024 08:15

They’re usually eaten by the pond children

Yes this. “I’ve got a pigeon in my garden with a broken wing, what should I do!!”
Put the poor thing out of its misery and put it in the bin fgs!
Or feed it bread.

Bellevilles · 01/06/2024 08:18

DanielGault · 01/06/2024 08:07

To me it’s too explicitly “I want you to be like this”- child as repository for adult’s dreams and preferences.

I know we all do this a bit (my tasteful newborn outfits also signalled something) but the Ramones baby takes it to the next level- like patting yourself on the back for treating another human as your personal billboard.

Possibly I am overthinking it 😂

Lilacdew · 01/06/2024 08:20

SomeBollocks · 31/05/2024 22:58

Beside the point I know, but feeding bread to ducks is actually fine - in the winter they really need the calories. Ideally wholemeal. Not mouldy though! (I know you don't care OP, just putting it out there...)

Personally I don't care about the state of my nails (hands or feet)

I was going to say this too. Some areas withdrew advice not to feed swans as they got really hungry in winter and their health suffered badly. They need a mixed diet - a bit of bread is okay.

RaverQuavers · 01/06/2024 08:20

Niceplaces · 01/06/2024 08:10

You’re statistically more at risk from the men you know in your home than a random trans woman in a TK Maxx changing room

Lesina · 01/06/2024 08:21

ReggaetonLente · 31/05/2024 23:01

Pandas.

They aren’t that bothered about continuing their own species so why should we care. They refuse to have sex with each other and have to eat about four times their own body weight per day. It’s unsustainable! Let them go extinct!

I love this :)

Ace56 · 01/06/2024 08:21

I don’t give enough of a shit about the environment to stop driving or flying. Like hell am I going to inconvenience myself by taking public transport all the time and never go on holiday or see friends/family abroad.

I fly several times a year. No fucks given.
