Things you're supposed to give a shit about, but you don't.

You know those little things in life that people like to morally police and make you feel guilty about but you just can't muster up the shit to give?

This is a confession thread. I'll start.

I don't give a shit that you supposedly shouldn't feed bread to ducks. I don't care. Don't eat it then. People have been feeding them bread for decades and now we're supposed to bring them organic bloody walnuts or something? Or some other crap they don't want that doesn't float?
They can have my slightly mouldy bread and be grateful.

Over to you.

Being “well travelled.” So many people boast about their travelling like anyone else gives a shit. Bore off- it doesn’t make you a more interesting person fyi -that would be your actual personality 😄

Howbizarre22 · 01/06/2024 07:54

Oh and bloody football. Loathsome.

NattyTurtle · 01/06/2024 07:54

Proudtobeanortherner · 01/06/2024 07:47

If you want to start a thread like this I probably wouldn’t have used innocent wildlife as your target; you deserve to be criticised. That’s an awful thing to confess to and isn’t in anyway lighthearted. You and anyone else who think it’s funny to kill is such a high handed way are truly awful.

Oh bore off. The ducks in my town are fed bread every day, several times a day, and they are thriving. I've been feeding the same duck bread for at least six years. People talk such rubbish. A pp said it's like feeding them junk food - so what? I eat junk food and I also eat healthy food, as do the ducks.

Some people seem to exist solely to suck the joy out of everything Hmm

Loveriver · 01/06/2024 07:54

My colleagues fake illnesses. She's never well it's boring

facelace · 01/06/2024 07:55

betterangels · 01/06/2024 07:33

Weddings. They're too expensive to attend and usually really boring for guests. Especially if the hosts skimp on food and are away forever having photos taken.

People's obsession with their dogs is tiresome.

Agree on the dog thing. And now they're allowed in Selfridges and John Lewis etc. disgusting

Bigredpants · 01/06/2024 07:55

Sunscreen.
Constant water drinking - ‘hydrating’.
Daily showers

Blackcats7 · 01/06/2024 07:56

What a horrible thread. By and large confirms how nasty and selfish people are.
Yuck OP.

Littlecaf · 01/06/2024 07:56

The Royal Family.

I could take them or leave them.

DP has a bee in his bonnet about them (he’s a Scouse Republican) “nobody is born above me”.

My grandma loved them and bought all the Charles & Di memorabilia when they got married & would send them wedding anniversary cards right up to when they got divorced.

I couldn’t give a monkeys about what they do.

ByPeachSeal · 01/06/2024 07:57

The environment. I don’t give a single shit.

I refuse to recycle; I’m not sorting my rubbish - everything just goes in one bin.

I will travel as much as I like by my preferred method at the time. I let the water run while I brush my teeth, have long showers and use the hose all summer.

I will not inconvenience my life on other people’s hysterias.

HuongVuong3 · 01/06/2024 07:50

The other problem with feeding ducks bread is that any that isn't eaten will rot and cause eutrophication of the river/lake/stream.

And that is a problem for all the other plant and animal life living there as it means less oxygen in the water leading to their deaths.

Please stop doing it!

You obviously don't know the first thing about ducks. They trample over each other to get to the bread, "any that isn't eaten" rarely happens.

GrumpyOldCrone · 01/06/2024 07:50

The opinions of people who say they have a right to an opinion.

Haha. Yes indeed. Roughly translated as 'I've said something I can't support with any evidence, rationale or logic. I'm completely unable to form an intelligent rebuttal to the thing you've said that I disagree with, so I'm going to cite my right to an opinion in lieu, because that's the one thing you can't disagree with.'

ByPeachSeal · 01/06/2024 07:58

Oh, and feeding ducks bread is fine. They took back the whole don’t feed ducks bread thing when they realised they were STARVING the bloody ducks.

My mother thinks I should give a shit about my exes whereabouts and family. Why should I? Left that behind when we split

Oh yes!

I don't care about what the grandchildren of people my mother worked with (retired 20 years now) are doing neither do i care about Pamela, you know Pamela who lived in the house on the corner, well the person she shares a rota with at the charity shop's brother went on a cruise and got norovirus.

I also don't care that I don't play the flute anymore (been over 40 years since I played in fact) despite my mother telling me the last time we spoke that it is one of the things that has made her most sad that I gave up when i had such promise. She was in tears about it. Honestly, if that's the only thing she has to complain about then her life is just fine.

Beside the point I know, but feeding bread to ducks is actually fine - in the winter they really need the calories. Ideally wholemeal. Not mouldy though! (I know you don't care OP, just putting it out there...)

Personally I don't care about the state of my nails (hands or feet)

It actually isn’t. Ducks who live on bread live for about as fifth as long as ducks living on their natural food. It literally kills them as it fills their stomachs with nutrient poor food.

Heirian · 01/06/2024 08:00

My husband.

Justcats · 01/06/2024 08:00

I don't give a fuck if people swear on here. People who type f**k need to grow up and stop being so prissy.

Littlecaf · 01/06/2024 08:00

Just thought of a few more

Middle class family camping trips to trendy campsites or family festivals. I don’t care for camping. I don’t need to go to a local “farm” to do silent discos or rum & reggae nights (it’s not a farm if they run events!) while camping.

Scruffily · 01/06/2024 08:01

HappyGoLucky96 · 01/06/2024 05:54

WTF!!!!!!!!!!!! R u for real? I certainly don’t want a grown bloody man or old man in a toilet my 5 year daughter is using

Don't you ever have men in your home?

Heirian · 01/06/2024 08:02

@Jewelanemone really hope you never suffer with proper mental health problems. It has ruined half my life.

How about dogs?
People seem to be obsessed with their dogs, other dogs, how cute dogs are..etc etc

I like dogs, they aren't horrible on the hole.
But I don't want one, not interested in what your dog has done or how well behaved it is, how intelligent it is, what tricks they can do. Don't want to be swinging a sack of warm dog shit around on my walks, feel obligated to walk or be licked or sniffed after the dog has licked its butt.

Not bothered about dogs.

Putting dogs on one's hole is also illegal.

Bellevilles · 01/06/2024 08:03

Professional-looking baking. Regularly see posts on here fretting that the birthday cake they have made for their child looks “unprofessional”- when did we all shift to thinking home baking should look like professional baking? It should taste reasonably nice and be made with love- it doesn’t have to look like you bought it. And it leads to people spending £100 they haven’t got on a 4yo’s birthday cake, probably full of crap and covered in disgusting fondant, when the 4yo would have been just as happy with a homemade sponge. We should re-embrace the imperfect.

(None of this is saying anyone has to bake. But if you choose to bake, cut yourself some slack.)

Oh, and feeding ducks bread is fine. They took back the whole don’t feed ducks bread thing when they realised they were STARVING the bloody ducks.

Edited

That’s only because by feeding them people are creating duck populations larger than the natural food supply can support. If people stop feeding them, the populations will return to their natural levels and the duck populations will be healthier and live much longer.

Anyway, if you must feed them, get them some proper duck food not bloody bread. Feeding them bread is like deciding to send food to a human famine zone but sending nothing but doughnuts for people to live on.

Bellevilles · 01/06/2024 08:04

Also I never gave a shit about advertising my musical tastes on my child’s clothing. Your newborn is not a Ramones fan.

Would you feel the same if they caused you to have an accident, though?

Moot point, because they haven't 🤷🏻‍♀️

If they pulled out on me deliberately, or ran me off the road deliberately, then yes I would care.
I don't think there are many people out there who intentionally go out to crash into other people though 🤔
Those that do are looking at prosecution.
